Immortality Starts With Selling Pills
Chapter 98: Alchemist Feng Yuan
Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Alchemist Feng Yuan
Keira’s eyes narrowed instantly. "Why did you call that shady fraud here?"
Chen Feng turned on her, his voice turning into a dangerous snarl. "Watch your mouth! Master Feng Yuan is a respected Tier 3 Alchemist. He’s one of the few who managed to refine a Grade 2 Super Pill, and he just recently learned how to make a Superpower Realm Advancement Serum."
"That doesn’t make him any less shady," Keira retorted, crossing her arms with a sneer. "I still say the guy has an ulterior motive."
From the bed, a low, raspy chuckle broke through the heat.
The old general smirked, looking over at his granddaughter with amused eyes. "You’re just salty because your father tried to arrange an engagement between the two of you."
"Huh?" Keira sneered, looking like she’d just stepped on something gross. "Let him try that shit again and see if I don’t flatten this shitty family. And who knows? Maybe that guy will just suddenly vanish one day, never to be found again."
Chen Feng’s hands clenched tight at his sides. His eyes turned dark and dangerous, but he kept his mouth shut and didn’t say a word.
"Um... could you maybe not talk about me in such a scary way?"
Everyone turned toward the door at the sound of the voice.
Standing there was a guy who looked just a little older than Keira, wearing a forced, nervous smile.
He had plain glasses on and a simple lab coat thrown over a visibly expensive, tailored outfit underneath.
Keira didn’t even blink. "There’s no point talking about someone behind their back, and I don’t do that shit."
Truth was, everyone in the room except Derrick had sensed the guy the exact second he walked up the hallway.
"Master Feng Yuan," Chen Feng said, stepping forward to greet the alchemist with a nod. "Please, come in."
Right behind the alchemist, Chen Weian and his son Kai slunk into the room, trailing after him like a pair of eager shadows.
"So, General," Feng Yuan said, running the scanner’s blue light down the old man’s abdomen, "have you been sticking to the exact care regimen and taking the suppressants I prescribed?"
"Every single one," the general grunted, leaning back against his pillows. "Followed it to the letter."
Feng Yuan glanced up at the holographic vitals hovering above the bed, his forehead creasing slightly.
"That’s weird," the alchemist muttered, tapping the floating screen to bring up a secondary chart. "There’s zero improvement. Your core energy is still just as clogged up as it was last month, and the corruption isn’t shrinking at all."
"Told you," the old man snorted bitterly. "Your fancy pills aren’t doing jack shit."
Feng Yuan shook his head, sighing softly as he closed the diagnostic screen.
"That’s bad news, General. The attack you had earlier? That’s just the start.
Pretty soon, those episodes are going to become a regular thing, like hiccups."
He looked at the old man grimly.
"At this rate, you aren’t going to last very long. But... there might be another way. My company has been developing a new drug line.
It’s a high-tier Evil Extraction fluid designed specifically for someone as powerful as General Chen, and I happen to have a prototype with me.
Along with high directed neuclear radiations, it is designed to eliminate foreign energy from the body.
Honestly, you look like a pretty viable candidate for the trial."
Before the old man could answer, Chen Feng stepped forward, his eyes sharp.
"What are our actual options here, Master Feng?"
Feng Yuan rubbed his chin, looking thoughtful for a moment before laying it out straight.
"The options are tough and simple at the same time.
Either you leave things exactly as they are, in which case the General dies in a couple of years at best...
Or you gamble on this new pill."
Chen Weian stepped forward, voicing the exact thought on Chen Feng’s mind. "Is there really no other way?"
"We should discuss this further," Chen Feng replied, his tone calculating as he eyed the alchemist.
While everyone was busy debating options, no one in the room except the dying old general noticed what Derrick was actually doing.
Derrick had activated his All-Seeing Eyes again, casually scanning the room.
His focus wasn’t on the worried family members, nor was it on the diagnostic monitors.
He was staring directly at Feng Yuan.
More specifically, his gaze was locked onto a small, distinct bulge inside the alchemist’s lab coat pocket.
Out of nowhere, the old general broke the silence, his rough voice cutting through the heavy air.
"Little guy," General Chen called out, looking over at the kid sitting right beside him. "What do you think I should do?"
The room instantly went dead silent.
Chen Feng stared at his father in total disbelief. "What are you doing, Father? What could a mere child possibly know about this?"
Chen Kai sneered from behind his dad, unable to hold back a chuckle. "Grandfather, he’s just Cousin Keira’s student. What does he know about alchemy or your condition?"
The old general completely ignored both of them, keeping his eyes fixed squarely on Derrick.
Standing nearby, Feng Yuan narrowed his eyes at the teenager sitting on the bed, a sharp flicker of genuine curiosity passing through his glance.
Ring!!
Just as Derrick opened his mouth to speak, his phone rang, suddenly shattering the heavy tension in the room.
Derrick pulled out his phone, flashing a bitter smile as he checked the screen.
It was a call from Cassie.
"Excuse me," Derrick said, waving the phone apologetically. "I have to take this. I’ll be right back."
Before stepping away, he leaned in closer to the bed and gently patted the old man’s wrinkled hand.
"Don’t be hasty about anything," Derrick whispered right into the general’s ear. "Maybe there could be another option."
He had kept his voice low, but Feng Yuan’s ears visibly twitched.
The alchemist had heard every single word.
"We don’t know how long it would take for someone to create a miracle like that," Feng Yuan spoke up, his smooth tone suddenly carrying a sharp edge.
"The General’s condition is critical. You can’t just sit around waiting for fiction to become reality."
He tapped the side of his lab coat, right over the hidden bulge in his pocket.
"This drug I have right here is reality. And he should take it."
Feng Yuan paused, clearing his throat lightly as he adjusted his plain glasses.
"At least... that is my professional opinion."
