Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Listen To Me Child

"I have a separate place nearby, a little ways out from the main mansion," Keira said, looking around the garden. "We can go there and work without anyone breathing down our necks."

Derrick nodded, and the two turned to head toward the estate’s side gates.

As they made their way down the path, a small figure stepped out from the shadow of the arched entryway.

It was none other than Chen Kai.

It was clear he had been lying in wait for them.

And he was not alone. Kai had four body guards following behind him. Each one was in the Enhanced Being Stage or Above.

Kai locked his eyes directly onto Derrick, a sneer tugging at the corner of his mouth.

"Leaving so soon?" Kai mocked, stepping into their path. "Are you going to renege on our deal already, or are you just running scared?"

Before Derrick could respond, Kai suddenly snapped his head towards Keira.

"And don’t you go interfering, Keira," Kai added quickly, raising a hand defensively. "You already agreed to my request earlier, so this is strictly between him and me."

He was worried, she would interfere in their fight and save the boy. Kai could throw his weight around the mansion but he knew before Keira even his father and uncle were helpless.

Derrick chuckled, shaking his head slightly.

"I can see who’s actually the scared one here."

Kai’s face flushed red with rage, his hands clenching into fists.

"YOU!"

Derrick just waved his hand dismissively and tried to walk past him.

"Don’t worry," Derrick said over his shoulder. "I’ll be back in less than an hour."

Kai immediately lunged to the side, blocking the path with a dark scowl.

"How do I know you won’t just run off?" Kai snapped.

Derrick stopped dead in his tracks, his eyebrows knitting together in a deep frown.

He really didn’t want to delay his business matters any longer, but Kai was quickly turning into an annoying headache.

Noticing Derrick’s rising impatience, Keira stepped forward and spoke up, her tone laced with clear disdain.

"Kai is around the same age as you, maybe a little older. But... even though he has been popping body-refining pills for almost half a year now, he’s only at the middle stage of the Body Strengthening Realm."

"Barely scraping toward the late stage. It won’t take long."

"Oh?" Derrick’s brow unedited, a sudden, amused glint flashing in his eyes.

He had actually been a bit concerned that Kai might have already crossed over into the Enhanced Realm, which would mean a prolonged, messy fight that would take a quarter of his hour to finish.

But if Keira’s assessment was accurate, this wouldn’t even take him five minutes to wrap up.

Who would have thought that the young master of one of the major families was only at the middle stage of the Physical Strengthening Stage.

Seeing Derrick go quiet and look thoughtful, Kai puffed out his chest, thinking he was heisting in fear.

"What’s the matter? Scared now?" the boy taunted.

Derrick shook his head, letting out a tired sigh.

"Fine. Let’s just do it right now." He knew better than to waste another second arguing with a spoiled child who only understood a good beating.

"Here should be fine."

"Whatever you wish," Kai sneered, his chest swelling with arrogance.

Fighting right here in the garden suited him just fine.

To Kai, Derrick was nothing more than a stray dog from the slums, a lowlife who had somehow tricked Keira into giving him a bit of attention.

A peasant like him didn’t deserve to breathe the same air as a true Chen family heir, let alone stand in the middle of their estate.

Kai looked over his shoulder read and passed a quick signal toward his bodyguards.

The two guards immediately stepped forward, flicking their wrists as light flashed from their spatial storage rings.

A heavy steel weapon rack materialized out of thin air, slammed onto the garden grass, and revealed an array of weapons.

Swords, spears, and heavy blades rested on the rack, each faint glow radiating a sharp, dangerous energy.

Keira took one look at the weapons and instantly snarled, her eyes cold as ice.

"Are you completely dumb, Kai, or just playing dumb?" she snapped. "Bringing Grade 1 Artifacts to a simple sparring match?"

Kai’s face flushed a deep, embarrassed red, but he quickly tried to play it off with a haughty cough.

"This is the only way my full combat power can be completely unleashed!" he argued, raising his chin.

He glanced dismissively at Derrick, then back at Keira.

"Since he’s your student, you can lend him a Grade 1 weapon too, so nobody says I took advantage of him."

"There’s no need," Derrick interrupted smoothly, stepping past Keira before she could answer.

Grade 1 weapons were powerful enough to unleash the full, terrifying strength of an Enhanced Being stage fighter.

But Derrick didn’t care in the slightest.

"I’ll fight with these if that’s what it takes," Derrick said, taking a smooth step forward.

He opened his bare palms toward Kai, rotated his wrists inward, and flexed his fingers back in a fluid motion.

When he turned them back, several flying knives appeared between his fingers, surprising the young master. How did he do it? Was it magic?

Derrick held the blades up for a brief second, before letting out a quiet sigh.

"Nah... that’s complete overkill."

He glanced at Kai with pure contempt as he said those words.

And with a simple flick of his wrist, the blades vanished into thin air just as fast as they had appeared.

"BHWAAHAHA!" Keira burst out laughing at the sight, her clear voice ringing through the garden.

"That’s my student!" She roared, thoroughly amused.

Kai’s face burned crimson as his embarrassment and rage shot right through the roof.

Unable to contain his fury for another second, he roared, lunged toward the table, and ripped a heavy Grade 1 spear from the rack.

"I’ll wipe that arrogant smirk off your dead face!" Kai screamed as he lowered the tip.

A faint green light coated the blade as Kai swung it with all his strength, aiming diagonally straight for Derrick’s chest.

Derrick didn’t even flinch.

He had sparred with Keira countless times.

He might not have reached her elite level in raw combat mastery yet, but he was still leagues ahead of someone like Kai who relied on pills to boost his stats.

Derrick could read the exact trajectory of the incoming blade before it even reached mid-swing.

Pushing off lightly with his right foot, he pivoted smoothly to the side, letting the green-glowing edge slice through empty air just an inch away from his chest.

Before Kai could recover his balance from the missed strike, Derrick’s hand shot out like a strike from a viper.

His fingers clamped down firmly around Kai’s wrist, locking the boy’s arm in place and halting the sword’s momentum entirely.

Leaning in close until his voice was right next to Kai’s ear, Derrick murmured softly.

"Since Keira was kind enough to reveal your power level to me, it’s only fair I reveal mine."

Derrick tightened his grip, feeling Kai’s wrist bone creak under the pressure.

"Listen to me and listen well child, I’m... at the late stage of the Physical Strengthening Realm." Derrick uttered one syllable at a time and each one sent a chill down Kai’s spine.
