Immortal Travel of Longevity
Chapter 832: The Thunder Scatters and the Rain Stops
Song Bao walked upstairs.
Perhaps the rain was simply too loud, or perhaps Yu Hongjin was too focused on Lihua out in the downpour, so she never noticed someone approaching from behind.
Meanwhile, Lihua's gaze remained fixed on the dim sky and its muffled thunder.
Lihua was a simple cat.
It did not understand many grand truths and had few companions, so it cherished its friends all the more.
But right now, its friends were being forced to do something they did not want to do.
And so, Lihua was unhappy.
"What exactly are you trying to do..." Yu Hongjin asked.
She sometimes found it hard to understand the cat's pure, foolish words.
Cats always spoke like that.As she spoke, Lihua lifted its head. "Ruyi told me that if a friend is in trouble, you have to help them. It goes like that..."
As it spoke, a sudden ripple flared around the cat's body.
The surrounding rain seemed to shift with it.
Yu Hongjin froze, seemingly spooked. "Hey, hey, what are you doing? Stupid cat, what are you trying to do!"
Lihua seemed to hear something. It blinked and muttered, "Don't cry, don't cry."
It was speaking to a friend no outsider could see.
All the surrounding spiritual energy seemed drawn toward it.
A faint azure light suddenly flickered in Lihua's eyes, and a faint phantom emerged behind it.
The phantom was not tall; it looked exactly like Lihua.
Yet its mere presence exuded an ancient, profound aura that sent a chill down the spine.
"I'll help you..."
At Lihua's word, the pouring rain suddenly froze in midair.
"Hum."
The weather shifted!
Yu Hongjin's eyes widened. When that phantom appeared behind Lihua, she trembled, and a sense of dread surfaced in her heart.
She swallowed hard and couldn't help taking two steps back.
Behind her, Song Bao's eyes also went wide. She stared at the suspended rain, her eyes filled with disbelief.
In that instant, she seemed to doubt the shape of the world; a massive rift had appeared between it and what she thought she knew.
The rain had stopped...
Not that it ceased to fall, but it was suspended in midair.
Song Bao's heart pounded. She reached out and could actually touch the rain, feeling it melt against her palm.
An inexplicable ripple suddenly swept outward from the attic.
The phantom's aura shot straight into the sky, as if stating its principles. Carrying an ancient presence and boundless Demonic Power, it pierced the highest heavens.
In an instant.
The spiritual energy between heaven and earth returned to nature.
The dark clouds overhead scattered, and the muffled thunder dissipated.
Everything grew quiet.
And the suspended rain fell in that same moment.
That was the final rainfall.
In the span of just a few breaths...
The thunder scattered, and the rain stopped!
A clear sky and brilliant sun revealed themselves!
The phantom behind Lihua dissipated, followed by a wave of weakness and exhaustion.
"Mew..."
Lihua collapsed.
But the puddle beneath it seemed sentient; it parted around the fallen cat to form a dry circle, keeping its fur from getting wet.
"Stupid cat!"
Yu Hongjin violently snapped back to her senses and scrambled forward.
Just as Sister Yun always said, even though this cat and fish were constantly bickering, if anything ever happened to one of them, the other would undoubtedly be worried sick.
Yu Hongjin hurried over and helped Lihua up. Anxious, she asked, "What's wrong with you? Why did you pass out?! Hey, stupid cat! Don't tell me you died! Wake up, hurry up and wake up..."
She shook Lihua, but suddenly, the surrounding spiritual energy surged toward the area.
It was the lingering spiritual energy of the thunderstorm.
Yu Hongjin froze as countless streams of spiritual energy flooded toward Lihua. As if expressing their gratitude, they continuously poured into the cat's body.
A faint glimmer began to radiate around Lihua.
Its breathing gradually steadied.
Yu Hongjin watched in a daze, still unable to comprehend exactly what had happened.
She opened her mouth, but setting that aside, she hurriedly gathered the cat in her arms.
"I have to find Mister Chen, I have to find Mister Chen..."
She spun around, only to spot Song Bao standing blankly in the attic doorway.
Yu Hongjin blinked, but with no time to think about all that, she just said, "Hurry up and lend a hand!"
Song Bao snapped out of her stupor and hurriedly said, "Oh, oh..."
She hurried forward to take the cat into her arms.
Only when she held it did she realize how much she had overestimated her own strength.
This cat was truly heavy. To say the least, it had to weigh over ten jin.
Holding Lihua, Song Bao frantically followed Yu Hongjin down the stairs.
"Mister Chen, Mister Chen!"
Yu Hongjin thumped down the stairs, shouting over and over, "This is bad, this is bad, Lihua fainted!"
Chen Changsheng, who was eating and chatting, paused slightly upon hearing this.
He looked over and indeed saw Song Bao carrying an unconscious Lihua.
"Give it to This Chen."
Chen Changsheng took Lihua from Song Bao's hands.
The heavy cat's four paws dangled limply, and it wouldn't wake up no matter how it was called.
Song Bao stood there numbly, still completely unable to process what she had just witnessed.
It was all simply too bizarre.
Seeing this, Physician Lin asked, "Did it pass out?"
Chen Changsheng nodded. "It seems so..."
Physician Lin opened his mouth, initially intending to take a look. However, on second thought, if it were a pig or a cow, he might know what to do, but a cat? That was truly...
So he kept quiet.
Yunxiang stepped forward for a look and said, "It looks like exhaustion."
Saying this, Yunxiang looked at Yu Hongjin.
Yu Hongjin opened her mouth to explain, but when she glanced around at the unfamiliar people, she found herself unable to speak.
Understanding her hesitation, Yunxiang said, "I'll take Lihua upstairs to rest. Hongjin, come up with me."
"Okay!"
Yu Hongjin nodded and quickly followed Yunxiang upstairs.
Watching this, Father Song snapped back to his senses and said, "Brother Chen, your family seems quite attached to that cat."
Chen Changsheng nodded. "This cat kept me company through a very low period in my early years, so I care for it deeply."
Father Song nodded. "I see. Besides, I noticed that cat is unusually smart. Last night, it came begging me for food. It waved its paws around for quite a while before I figured out what it meant."
Chen Changsheng smiled. "It is rather clever."
He wasn't worried about Lihua.
The moment he took it, he understood exactly what had happened.
It wasn't a bad thing. On the contrary, it was a good thing.
This was Lihua's fateful encounter.
Its pure and simple nature had caused the Four Seasons Spiritual Energy of heaven and earth to draw intimately close to it.
As he spoke, Father Song returned to his senses and glanced outside.
"Huh? When did the sky clear up?"
Physician Lin stared blankly as well.
It seemed none of them had noticed.
When had the weather turned? It was just pouring a moment ago, so how did it clear up in the blink of an eye?
