Chapter 510: Chapter 507: Inside the Light Dot

’Why is my vision so strange?’

Mo Ling felt a little dizzy from the shaky view. His perspective never allowed him to see the person’s face clearly; he only knew his vision was constantly moving with this person.

After some time, the person finally caught up with the team.

However, something was wrong with the team.

While the team members had looked a bit weary before, they had been orderly. Now, they were in complete disarray, scattered in different positions and brandishing their weapons as if fending something off.

Even stranger, black stains had appeared on all of their bodies. These stains crawled all over their clothes and had even seeped underneath.

’What is that stuff?’

Once the view steadied, Mo Ling could finally see clearly. The black stains were actually some kind of writhing sludge!

The sludge wasn’t seeping into their clothes from the outside; it was oozing out from their skin.

’It’s crawling out of them!’

The sludge seemed to be a secretion from their own bodies, continuously emerging from all over them. It would first accumulate on their skin, then slowly writhe its way through their clothes, causing the stains to appear.

Not only that, but the team members were acting as if they’d gone mad, periodically swinging their weapons at their surroundings as if attacking non-existent enemies.

Upon seeing this, the person whose perspective Mo Ling had been following let out a surprised gasp. "Death Swamp?"

’Death Swamp? What is that? Is it the sludge on them?’

As Mo Ling puzzled over this, his vision began to shake again.

When it stabilized again, his viewpoint had shifted, now aimed at a surprised face—a face Mo Ling knew very well.

"Zhou Dynasty?"

So the person whose perspective I was following was Zhou Dynasty!

’But why has the perspective been so strange?’

Before Mo Ling had time to think, Zhou Dynasty started walking toward his sludge-covered teammates.

Those teammates also spotted the late-arriving Zhou Dynasty.

"Zhou Dynasty, knock us out and take us back to the monitoring station!" those teammates shouted at Zhou Dynasty.

Hearing this, Zhou Dynasty’s face immediately turned deathly pale, and unconcealable fear showed on his face.

But just then, the team captain spoke up again.

"No! Zhou Dynasty, go around us and get straight to the monitoring station! Have them send people to rescue us! The source of the Death Swamp might still be nearby. If you come over rashly, you could be cursed too!"

Compared to the panicked team members, the captain seemed much calmer.

"We can hold on for a while longer. Those Spirit Bodies can’t do anything to us. As long as we deal with the approaching Spirit Bodies in time, the Death Swamp on us won’t spread. Zhou Dynasty! Hurry to the monitoring station, time is of the essence!"

However, in the face of death, this hastily assembled team had little discipline to speak of. Some members ignored the captain’s orders and began to persuade Zhou Dynasty.

"It’s fine! The source of the curse is already gone! Zhou Dynasty, just come over and knock us out. Don’t be afraid!"

Hearing these completely contradictory statements, Zhou Dynasty froze.

Already inexperienced, his youthful face was full of conflict. He didn’t know how to face the teammates he had spent every day with.

"I... I can’t come near you. The curse can spread."

His voice was faint, and his teammates in the distance didn’t hear him.

"What was the source? Is it really gone?" Zhou Dynasty yelled to his teammates.

But his voice might as well have been a stone dropped into the ocean. His teammates were busy fending off a new wave of enemies and couldn’t spare the attention to answer. Only the captain waved a hand forcefully, signaling for him to go at once.

This made Zhou Dynasty even more conflicted. He had never had to make a choice like this before.

So, he looked down at the stone sword in his hand.

His gaze pierced through the stone sheath, looking at Mo Ling, who wasn’t really there.

This sudden gaze startled Mo Ling.

’Is he looking at me?’

’No! Is he looking at the stone sword, talking to the stone sword?’

Reflected in Zhou Dynasty’s pupils was the unremarkable stone sword—its rough stone body and heavy hilt. It was identical to the Holy Sword in Mo Ling’s memory.

Only then did Mo Ling realize he had been following the Holy Sword’s perspective all along. It was always shaky because it was hanging from Zhou Dynasty’s waist.

A bead of cold sweat slid down Zhou Dynasty’s forehead. His lips trembled as he panted, and the hand holding the Holy Sword shook uncontrollably.

Mo Ling could feel that he was terrified. His gaze on the Holy Sword was unsteady, constantly wavering.

"The captain is lying to me. The spread of the Death Swamp doesn’t stop just because we defeat the Spirit Bodies..." Zhou Dynasty muttered to himself as he stared at the Holy Sword. "Those invisible Spirit Bodies will relentlessly hunt their cursed targets. Any interaction with them—including fighting—will make the Death Swamp worse."

’He’s trying to trick me into leaving...’

Zhou Dynasty gritted his teeth, instantly understanding the captain’s intentions.

"The sludge has already covered their bodies; they can’t last much longer. Even if they can defeat the Spirit Bodies, the sludge will fill their lungs, and they’ll soon suffocate."

Zhou Dynasty looked at the Holy Sword in his hand, muttering helplessly as the veins on his arm bulged.

"I have to save them!"

His eyes suddenly grew determined, no longer wavering. The fear on his face was replaced by courage. He started walking again, heading toward his teammates.

One step, two steps. As he reached his teammates’ side, a chilling wind suddenly gusted, and one after another, white apparitions materialized around them.

"Just as I thought, the source of the curse never left." Zhou Dynasty gave a self-deprecating laugh. He had been reckless after all.

But he didn’t regret it. Before the white apparitions could fully coalesce, he charged forward, raised the Holy Sword, and brought it down hard on a teammate’s head, knocking them unconscious on the spot.

"Next."

His teammates were scattered. Before the white apparitions could completely obscure his vision, Zhou Dynasty quickly memorized their locations, rushed toward the nearest one, and brought the sword down hard on their head as well.

They were already deep in the grip of the Death Swamp, attacking the surrounding white apparitions erratically as if mesmerized. Covered in sludge, their movements had become sluggish, too slow even to save themselves.

Time was short, so Zhou Dynasty had no time to consider how much force to use. As long as it knocked them out, he hit as hard as he could.

If he delayed any longer, he might not even get the chance to act.

And so, before the Spirit Bodies around him could fully materialize, Zhou Dynasty swiftly rescued all of his teammates.

"Only the captain is left..." He hurried toward the captain, but before he could reach him, he was blocked by a swarm of white apparitions.

These white apparitions looked no different from humans; if not for their ethereal bodies, they would seem like living people. But Zhou Dynasty knew this was just a form of attack simulated by the Death Swamp.

This simulation was designed to make the victim more afraid, and fear was just another way of interacting with a Spirit Body.

"Since fighting is an interaction, and getting hurt is an interaction, then I just won’t fight." Zhou Dynasty gritted his teeth and passed straight through the Spirit Bodies, letting their invisible attacks rain down on him.

Black sludge instantly appeared around Zhou Dynasty’s eyes. Layer upon layer of white apparitions crawled over his body. Having lost their other targets, they all converged on him.

He shakily raised the Holy Sword and staggered toward the captain, passing through the area of white apparitions, which was like a thin veil. Sludge began to entwine his body, and writhing black mud flowed from beneath his feet.

"The last one... the last one..." Zhou Dynasty stared intently ahead, the Holy Sword raised in the air, but the white apparitions had already hidden the captain from his sight.

"Where is he?" He held the sword aloft, but didn’t know where to strike.

Sludge had already crawled into his eyes. He could no longer see what was in front of him. The white apparitions were everywhere, obscuring all.

’Is it hopeless?’ Despair filled his heart. He hadn’t made it in time after all.

However, just as he was about to give up, a huge, block-shaped void suddenly appeared in the middle of the dense white apparitions.

The void devoured all the white apparitions within it, and inside its smooth edges, the path forward was perfectly clear.

It turned out the captain was just a short distance away, no more than two meters.

Now, Zhou Dynasty’s sword could finally fall. He didn’t waste a thought on the Block that had suddenly appeared.

He had only one thought in his mind—swing the sword in his hand down with all his might!
