Chapter 107: Training a New Way to Activate the Bloodline Trait (Part 2)

"How?" Renna straightened up from the bed with her mouth slightly open.

Even if Faye was feigning her cold expression, the cold chill coming from her body was real.

Then, remembering the words about who taught her that, her eyes turned to Magna.

She moved on the bed again, hanging her head off the bed to directly face him as she asked, "How did you do that?"

"I just taught her a game," he said, leaning to the side as her face was so close.

But she moved closer again. "What game?"

Though this time, the one who made her move away was Faye as she grabbed her by her clothes and pulled her back.

"What are you doing?" Renna snapped at her angrily, though her anger didn’t have much effect this time.

Faye only looked at her with her cold, emotionless eyes. This time, the one feeling uncomfortable was Renna herself.

Feeling the silent tension rising, Magna answered right away. "I don’t think it would help you to train your bloodline trait."

His acting method was for Faye, so the same tactic wouldn’t work for the Blood Fever.

But thinking about it a little, an interesting thought came to his mind as he got up. "Can you tell me how your bloodline trait actually works?"

Renna, keeping some kind of staring contest with Faye, suddenly turned to him.

"Well, it works when I feel anger, or the opposite, it makes me angry. My blood starts getting hot as well as my body. It gives me instant bursts of physical strength as well. But the problem is I have to suppress my anger every time to not harm myself or others around me, making my bloodline trait weaken."

Magna fell into thought for a moment. His eyes soon lit up with interest. "Isn’t that kind of a berserk mode?"

It was a kind of skill in the games he used to play, usually found among warriors or barbarians.

Using it normally lowered the user’s defense or intelligence, but in return, it gave them incredible bursts of strength and speed.

This skill was actually one of Magna’s favorites, as he had even modified it once while creating a full-dive VR game, giving it more details to make it realistic by requiring players to actually control their anger to activate the skill.

"Berserk mode?" Renna repeated the word, not knowing what it meant.

Faye also got out of her Serene State as she looked at him with interested eyes, as it sounded like another game they were about to play.

"Well, basically, it’s a state you enter when you build enough anger inside you," Magna said, giving the description, though it wasn’t the solution to Renna’s bloodline trait.

For that, he gave the next words that would form the actual solution. "Have you ever thought that rage and anger are actually not the same thing?"

Renna gave him one of her silent looks, as she had never thought about that before.

Not keeping the silence for long, Magna explained. "Anger is actually an emotion. It is a normal emotional response to something a person perceives as wrong, threatening, unfair, frustrating, or insulting.

Someone can actually be angry while still thinking clearly and controlling their actions, as it’s the same with controlling your emotions. Like not crying when you feel sorrow or keeping your laughter when you are amused, something like that."

Seeing the two girls, even Faye, giving him an understanding look, he found more spirit to keep going and started to explain like a teacher.

"Meanwhile, rage is an extreme and overwhelming state of anger.

Unlike ordinary anger, rage can heavily affect a person’s judgment, self-control, and behavior. Someone in a state of rage may act aggressively or impulsively and have difficulty thinking about consequences."

He looked at Renna directly as he added, "In your situation, your anger activates your bloodline trait, but it suddenly turns into rage, which makes you lose your control and your ability to think logically."

Renna nodded, understanding the distinction between the two terms, as she agreed with him 100%, though there was still a question. "That’s the problem. I always go into rage, skipping the anger stage."

Magna smiled. "Then we just need to bypass both stages. Since your bloodline trait currently needs anger to activate, we just need to find a way for you to activate it without needing anger or rage."

Now she looked confused. "Is that even possible? It’s not even that I need to be angered to activate it. Most of the time, the thing that angers me is already my bloodline trait."

That was the problem. Anger was no longer an emotion for the Cinder family but something like an uncontrollable hereditary illness.

Even Rowena, despite having so many years of experience, could still lose herself to her anger most of the time.

Magna shrugged his shoulders. "Well, I’m not an expert in these kinds of things. I’m just saying we can maybe modify your bloodline trait so that it doesn’t activate with rage but with other triggers, so this side effect disappears on its own, who knows?"

Magna was currently only guessing, thinking of it like a skill in a game that he could edit and change using a few codes.

This way of thinking actually came from the time when a berserk skill he had created in a game had caused his gaming company to receive thousands of complaint letters and even hundreds of lawsuits.

Making the skill’s activation require actual rage had caused it to affect most people’s daily lives as well.

After a while, people’s mental health deteriorated and they developed anger problems, forcing Magna to change the skill’s activation condition.

So what he was planning to try was the same thing on Renna.

Would it work? Well, it wasn’t a game but a real world, so it was probably close to impossible.

But would there be any harm in trying?

Absolutely not, as Magna actually wanted to see what the result would be.

"Let’s just try. Even if it doesn’t work, we can just say we tried," he chuckled, sounding very excited to see the result.
