Chapter 106: Training a New Way to Activate the Bloodline Trait (Part 1)

"Renna?" Magna was quite surprised to see the redhead Witch standing before him after he opened the door.

She wasn’t alone, though, as a small head popped out from behind her.

"Faye?"

He was a bit puzzled to see the two of them together. For some reason, it had always seemed like they didn’t get along very well.

And indeed, they didn’t.

’’Can you get this little midget away from me? She keeps following me," Renna said in an annoyed tone as she stepped inside.

"Who are you calling a midget?" Faye followed her with a furious expression. "Also, I’m not following you. We just happened to be going to the same place."

Magna simply watched from the doorway as the two entered the room like it was their own, without even asking.

"What’s up with you two?" He asked to understand what was going on while closing the door.

Neither of them gave an answer to his question.

"She’s an annoying bug," Renna said as she lay down on the bed, picking up one of the scattered books, opening it, and skimming through its pages.

"She’s a meanie," Faye also sat on the bed, copying her. She picked up a book and started reading, though she was holding it upside down again.

Magna let out a tired sigh as he asked once more. "Really, why are you two here?"

He walked forward, took the book Faye was holding, flipped it right side up, and placed it back in her hands.

He had been quite eager to keep reading, so having his quiet, pleasant moment shattered by these intruders annoyed him quite a bit.

Renna raised the book in her hands to cover her face as she whispered. "Just came to check if you were alright."

She apparently was still feeling guilty about everything that had happened.

"I came to play!" Faye was quite straightforward, saying it directly with a big smile.

"I’m fine, thank you for asking. And no, it’s already too late to play," he replied to both of them.

He expected them to leave after that, but neither of them even moved from the bed.

Seeing no other choice, he picked up the book he had left unfinished and sat on the floor, leaning his back against the bed, deciding to keep reading like that.

But before he could start, Renna’s question interrupted him. "Is it really true? The thing about your eyes?"

"What thing?"

Renna set the book aside and slid across the bed, turning onto her stomach as she reached the edge to look down at Magna from above. "The thing about it is that it’s a bloodline trait from the Matriarch of Death."

Faye mimicked her right away. She crawled across the mattress, flipped onto her stomach beside Renna, and rested her chin on her hands to peer down at Magna as well.

When Magna raised his head, he came face-to-face with two curious faces staring back at him. "I don’t know. It’s not my claim."

He only knew as much as Celeste and Rowena had explained to him.

In the end, the one who gave him this trait was Gaia, the AI whose true origin he couldn’t yet comprehend.

He couldn’t even understand his own origin, so his whole life was clearly a mystery.

’Maybe I’m actually a God? Got so bored that I erased my memories so I could live another life?’ He thought about the question that popped into his mind from time to time.

Could what he thought was just playing the role of the God of Games actually be who he really was?

But the thing was, Magna wasn’t a masochist. He wouldn’t place himself in a world and give himself an AI or a system, or whatever it was, just to subject himself to a new kind of torture every single day.

Even a God wouldn’t get that bored, right?

"How does it feel?" this time Faye asked.

Realizing he wouldn’t be able to continue reading, Magna closed the book and answered. "It feels no different than before. I just see golden sparkles whenever mana is present around me."

"If that’s all, then it’s actually quite good," Renna said with a sigh. "I actually hate my bloodline trait. It usually makes me feel angry and make illogical decisions."

Magna didn’t need to ask what kind of illogical decisions she meant. He had witnessed one not long ago, the very one that had almost cost them their lives.

"Can’t you control your bloodline trait?" Faye asked with a mischievous grin on her face.

Renna shot her an annoyed side glance. "As if you can."

Faye felt intimidated by that look and immediately averted her gaze. She still answered proudly, though her voice quivered slightly. "O-Of course I can. Magna taught me how to control it."

"You are lying." Renna frowned, unwilling to believe that this little headache had learned how to control her bloodline trait at such an age.

Entering the Serene State was particularly difficult to learn. Unlike the Cinder family’s bloodline trait, which could be active at any moment, theirs required unimaginable focus to activate.

In comparison, the Cinder family’s problem was not so much entering a rage state, but keeping themselves out of it, and stepping back from it once they were in.

"No, I’m not!" Faye hated being called a liar as she protested, rising onto her knees on the bed.

"Hah? Show me then." Renna, still skeptical, chuckled just to see the girl humiliate herself.

But in the next instant, she swallowed the words she had been planning to use to belittle her.

Faye opened her mouth and spoke. "You seek to witness true talent, yet your eyes fail to perceive the very greatness standing right in front of you."

While the words flowed from her mouth like poison from a snake, her face shifted into an emotionless state. Her eyes half-drooped, losing all interest in the world.

A cold chill began to seep from her body, making the two of them feel a shiver run down their skin.

Even Magna was surprised this time. Not because she had entered her Serene State so easily and fast, but because of those words.

’I didn’t teach her that. Has she been secretly practicing new lines?’

It almost gave him goosebumps seeing just how edgy she could be.
