I'm the Only Magus in This Witch World
Chapter 103: Sharing the Secret (Part 1)
Soon Celeste and Rowena also returned to their side inside the ice dome.
"What happened to your eyes?" Celeste, who had already deactivated her serene state as the danger around them could be said to have passed, rushed to his side with worry.
She held his face as she started to check closely to be able to see what kind of side effect of the spell he was under.
Rowena didn’t voice anything as she, after looking at Magna, turned her eyes to Renna who seemed to be behaving a little strangely.
She didn’t question it, as she just said, "Let’s return first. We can check his health in the mansion."
As the strongest and oldest person among them, everyone acknowledged her sensible suggestion.
Titus, walking to the ice cube holding the Faceless Witch inside, lifted it and put it on his shoulder, meanwhile Corvo returned to Rowena’s shadow silently.
While they moved, Magna was checking the two women, more specifically the golden light shining in their abdomen areas.
Though their mana reserves were already spent during their fight with Sable, the light was still very bright and dense.
Celeste’s mana was almost on par with the Faceless Witch, indicating both of them being 10th Trial Witches, while Rowena’s was quite noticeably brighter in color, looking almost like a sun.
’Does brighter mean more powerful and higher quality?’ Magna, knowing Rowena was an 11th Trial Witch, thought.
Especially Renna’s mana was much darker in color compared to them, which was what gave him this comparison and analysis result.
Too bad Magna, for some reason, couldn’t see the mana inside himself, so he currently had no way to make a comparison. He was just curious where his current mana quality and mana reserve stood compared to the Witches’ trials.
The only thing he could do was guess, as his mana capacity was probably at the level of a 10th Trial Witch. But its quality had to be quite low, as when he cast a spell, he used much more mana than the other Witches.
He realized that part especially when casting the Faceless Witch’s defensive spell. When she cast the spell, her mana reserve initially dropped only a little during activation, but Magna’s had dropped much more.
While they left the ice dome on their way back, they especially stopped by the place where the Treant was frozen to check if he was still there.
But the giant ice mountain had long disappeared, leaving behind only largely broken ice.
Just looking at the remaining ice pieces, it wasn’t hard to guess that the Shadow took big damage, but was still alive.
Next, without idling around, they returned to the dirt road where a carriage was waiting for them, and boarding it, they returned to the mansion.
—
At the Winterborne estate, the large dining room table was quite crowded today, as Rowena, Corvo, and Renna had decided to stay a night before leaving to return to their territory.
They still had to interrogate the Faceless Witch as well as discuss the matter of the Golden Sunberry farm.
The maids never stopped entering and leaving the room as they rushed food continuously. It was just to be able to feed three men at the table eating like they were in an apocalypse, as it was never an easy job to feed Shadows.
Especially Magna, who had missed his meals, was savoring every bite, enjoying it to the fullest.
Though he wasn’t so comfortable and couldn’t fully enjoy it, as there was a face right next to his, looking at him intensely.
"Magna, did you eat so many sunberries?" Faye, looking at Magna’s eyes so focused, asked in a serious manner.
"Yeah." Magna put his hand to her face to push her face away, which was too close to his own.
"Noo! Your hands are dirty!" Faye whined, taking a napkin and wiping her face.
Faye wasn’t the only one interested in and concerned with his eyes.
Celeste, slowly putting down her fork and knife, turned to Rowena and asked, "What do you think caused this? It’s the first time I’m seeing something like this."
Rowena kept gently and slowly eating, swallowing the food in her mouth before saying, "I’m not sure." She also looked at Renna out of the corner of her eye to check her face.
She felt like her granddaughter was hiding something, but it wasn’t the place to ask.
She could only say the response she thought was most logical, "We can only ask the Faceless Witch."
Her body was still inside the ice coffin, waiting to be interrogated, as before interrogating her, Rowena and Celeste had decided to take a short rest while regenerating the mana they had lost.
At her words, Magna suddenly flinched, dropping the piece of food he was bringing to his mouth, while Renna also seemed quite stiffened.
Magna, knowing they would find out sooner or later, was already planning to say it, but he was still unsure as Rowena and Corvo were there too.
The real problem was how much he had to reveal.
The Faceless Witch also knew that he could cast spells like a Witch.
Hell, she even saw him copying her own specialized spell perfectly in just seconds.
These were not small secrets he could just wait and hope wouldn’t be exposed.
He at least decided to tell the simplest one among all the secrets. "My eyes turned golden because of my bloodline trait."
He suddenly threw the sentence out like a bomb.
If the Faceless Witch exposed him first, it would cause trouble for him. They would see him as a liar who hid secrets rather than someone trustworthy.
As for why he could cast spells, well, he had to think of an answer to give them later when they learned it from the Faceless Witch. He was quite sure their reaction to that would be more than shock.
Everyone at the table, even Corvo and Titus, suddenly stopped eating, as all eyes except Renna’s and Faye’s turned to him.
"Your bloodline trait?" Rowena looked the most shocked among them, as she didn’t know Magna’s origin, that his lineage came from an ancient family.
She had already witnessed Magna’s abnormally high physical strength, so learning he actually possessed more than one trait was quite a big thing.
As for Celeste, her reaction was a mixture of shock and excitement. "Did you just awaken another bloodline trait?"
For her, she was already thinking Magna had at least two bloodline traits, one being about his physical body, and the other being similar to their serene state that granted him fighting ability and a calm mind.
"What power does it have?" She couldn’t help but ask, though she added anyway, "You don’t need to tell us if you don’t want to."
Magna shrugged his shoulders, as he had already revealed this much, so he brought out the rest as well. "I can see mana."
Though next, he started to think if he had just made the right decision by saying that.
Another silence suddenly covered the whole room, with no one even opening their mouth or moving, just staying like that while looking at him.
’Is it some kind of contagious disease?’ Only Renna had so far had that kind of habit, looking at him without saying anything, but now everyone was starting to give the exact same reaction.
Only Faye was quite normal, as she was currently drawing a smiling face with the food on her plate.
