I'm Already a God, and You're Only Now Telling Me There Are Monsters?
Chapter 42: One Explosive Kick
Chapter 42: Chapter 42: One Explosive Kick
On the picnic blanket.
Chen Zijie was hitting it off with a girl in jeans.
Suddenly, a soccer ball flew over, WHOOSHING past the front of the girl in jeans.
The girl in jeans was startled and let out a small scream.
Just as Chen Zijie was about to start yelling, the guy with the buzz cut who had kicked the ball beat him to it, shouting with an apologetic look on his face:
"Sorry about that!"
"I miskicked!"
"Could you kick it back, please? Thanks!"
As the saying goes, you don’t hit a man who’s smiling.
Chen Zijie decided not to make a fuss. He got up, walked into the goal to retrieve the soccer ball, and kicked it back to the guy.
In the minutes that followed, the guys from the school soccer team kept kicking the ball over every now and then.
It would either land on their picnic blanket or fly past, grazing someone’s arm.
And every time the ball came over, they would apologize with the same look, saying they had accidentally miskicked.
Once or twice would have been forgivable.
But after so many times, anyone could tell they were doing it on purpose just to mess with them.
As the guys kicked the ball over yet again, Chen Zijie finally snapped. He shot to his feet and yelled at them:
"What the fuck is your problem? Kick that ball over here on purpose one more time and see what happens!"
"Whoa, what are you talking about? Don’t get the wrong idea."
The guy with the ponytail held up his hands, the picture of innocence. "With soccer, if your power or direction is just a little off, it’s perfectly normal to miskick."
Chen Zijie retorted, "If your skills are that crappy, then you should play somewhere else!"
The guy with the ponytail just laughed. "Dude, this is a soccer field. Why are you having a social mixer here instead of playing soccer? You’re the ones who should get lost."
Chen Zijie was livid. He grabbed the soccer ball, about to hurl it away just to see what they would do then.
"Don’t throw it."
Gu Qing shot Chen Zijie a meaningful look. "Give me the ball. I’ll kick it back to them."
Chen Zijie understood what Gu Qing meant.
He composed himself, put the ball back on the ground, and nudged it over to Gu Qing.
As his roommate, he knew just how off-the-charts Gu Qing’s physical abilities were now.
With a single kick, he could probably send the ball flying right out of the field.
It was time to give them a taste of their own medicine.
They’d just say it wasn’t on purpose.
That he just couldn’t control his strength.
There’d be nothing the other guys could do about it.
Soon, Gu Qing slowly rose to his feet. He walked over to the ball, took a step back with his right foot, and settled into a kicking stance.
The guy with the ponytail saw what Gu Qing was planning and couldn’t help but laugh out loud, snarking to his teammate beside him:
"Get a load of this guy. Looks like he wants to kick it back so hard that I can’t catch it, just to make me look like a fool."
"He probably doesn’t know I’m the ace goalkeeper for the school’s soccer team."
"This is hilarious."
The ponytail guy had barely finished speaking when Gu Qing, standing opposite him, smiled and said:
"Hey, get ready."
"Bring it,"
the ponytail guy said with a disdainful look, not even bothering to get into a receiving stance. He didn’t take this amateur, Gu Qing, seriously at all.
’I’m the goalie for the school team,’ he thought. ’You think I can’t catch a ball kicked by some random student?’
Just as this thought crossed his mind, Gu Qing casually kicked the ball in front of him.
The instant his foot made contact with the ball,
the soccer ball instantly deformed.
An explosive BOOM erupted.
Then, like a cannonball, the soccer ball shot toward the ponytail guy at an extreme speed.
’So fast!’
The ponytail guy’s heart leaped in alarm.
Then, out of pure goalkeeping instinct, he immediately raised his hands to block it.
Gu Qing had aimed this shot directly at the ponytail guy.
Therefore, the guy effortlessly got his hands on the ball.
Except... the kinetic energy of the ball was far too great.
The moment his hands touched the soccer ball,
the ponytail guy felt a tremendous force assault him, instantly sweeping through his entire body.
Then, before he could even process what was happening,
the ball, carrying immense kinetic energy, drove his hands viciously into his stomach.
With a loud THUD, it knocked him clean off his feet.
His body curled into the shape of a shrimp in midair.
After what felt like an eternity, he slammed back down onto the ground, landing flat on his back.
At that moment, everyone there was completely stunned.
Especially the ponytail guy’s teammates.
As fellow members of the school soccer team, they knew just how strong his goalkeeping skills were.
In the coach’s own words, he was the number one goalie in Hai City University’s Division A league, someone who had a shot at playing professionally in the future.
And yet, this was the very same goalie in whom the coach had placed such high hopes.
And now he’d been knocked to the ground by a single power shot from some campus nobody, unable to even get up.
The scene was so outrageous it was hard to believe.
"Brother Yu, are you okay?"
"Should we take you to the school clinic?"
"Don’t move him yet, just let him lie there and recover."
Snapping out of it, several of his teammates swarmed over, surrounding the ponytail guy with concern.
The girl in jeans, who had just been hitting it off with Chen Zijie, also rushed over immediately.
She ran to the ponytail guy’s side, knelt down, and gripped his hand tightly, her voice on the verge of tears.
"Ahyu, how are you?"
"Don’t scare me."
"I was wrong. I shouldn’t have tried to make you angry on purpose. Please be okay."
"..."
The ponytail guy was curled up on the ground, hands clutching his stomach. His face was ashen, and a layer of cold sweat instantly beaded on his forehead.
’Pain!’
’So much pain!’
That ball Gu Qing had kicked...
It had the kinetic energy of a fully loaded truck.
It hit him so hard his stomach was spasming uncontrollably.
His consciousness was starting to blur.
For a moment, he felt like he was about to be transported to another world to become a Hero.
After lying on the ground for nearly half a minute, the ponytail guy finally felt a little better. He struggled to sit up, his eyes fixed on Gu Qing as if he were looking at a monster.
He’d been playing soccer since kindergarten, had been a goalie for over a decade, and had watched professional soccer for years. He had seen and faced every kind of powerful shot imaginable.
But a power shot that could send the goalie himself flying? That was something he had never seen or even heard of.
’Could a human being really kick a ball like that?’
The ponytail guy looked at Gu Qing’s long legs, which didn’t even seem particularly muscular.
The more he looked, the more he began to question his reality.
For a moment, he wondered if he was dreaming.
"Ahyu, I’m so glad you’re okay! From now on, no matter what happens, let’s never be apart again, okay? *Sob sob sob...*"
Seeing the ponytail guy sit up, the girl in jeans cried tears of joy, throwing herself into his arms and hugging him tightly as she wept.
Back on the picnic blanket.
Chen Zijie watched the absurd scene unfold, completely frozen. He felt like a total clown.
Gao Fei saw his awkwardness and patted him on the shoulder.
"Damn it, that Lin Xiao is a fucking idiot."
"Zijie, just ignore her. I’ll have Xiaoyi introduce you to someone else later."
"The one thing our Foreign Languages Department isn’t short on is girls. I promise I’ll find you one prettier than her."
The Xiaoyi that Gao Fei mentioned was his girlfriend, the girl in the black dress standing nearby, who was also the head of the Foreign Languages Department’s External Liaison team.
Hearing this, Xu Xinyi was caught in a dilemma, unsure if she should say anything.
On one side was her boyfriend’s roommate.
On the other was a member of her own liaison team.
No matter who she sided with, she would end up offending the other, putting her in a complete no-win situation.
Meanwhile.
Gu Qing looked at the current situation and found it all a bit much.
He hadn’t intended to show off with that power shot; he was purely trying to stick up for his roommate.
He hadn’t expected it to backfire and put his roommate in such an awkward position.
But on second thought, it wasn’t really a case of good intentions leading to a bad outcome.
At the very least, he had helped his roommate weed out a bad one early on.
Otherwise, if his roommate had actually started dating that girl, there was a 99% chance he would have been cheated on.
After all, all of the girl’s account information was bound to the ponytail guy.
If the ponytail guy ever wanted to, he could file a report, retrieve the account with one click, change the password, and lock out the take-over guy, Zijie, from ever logging in.
Just as Gu Qing was thinking this, Huang Xiaoyue shifted her body, leaning ambiguously close to him. She brought her lips to his ear and whispered:
"Senior, your legs are so powerful."
"If you used them on a girl, it would definitely be intense."
"I feel like you’d make me cry."
’Hold on, what kind of lewd things is she saying?’
Gu Qing turned to look at Huang Xiaoyue. This twin-tailed underclassman was full of contradictions.
She looked so pure and innocent on the outside, but her mind was unbelievably dirty.
And she was incredibly forward, too.
So forward it almost felt like a honey trap.
