Chapter 142: Chapter 113: Martial God

「In front of Jixia Martial Arts Hall.」

Gu Qing and Xia Shuran got out of a rideshare.

The moment she stepped out of the car, Xia Shuran felt like she had walked into a furnace. It was so hot she felt like she was about to melt.

"Ugh—I can’t take this anymore!"

Xia Shuran couldn’t help but complain, "Why is summer in Hai City so hot? I feel like sticking my tongue out to pant like a dog."

Gu Qing chuckled. "Hai City may be hot, but it also has mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches, and rats."

Xia Shuran grimaced. "Senior, don’t even mention mosquitoes. I was almost driven crazy by those disgusting creatures last night. I didn’t get to sleep until very late."

Gu Qing was puzzled. "But you’re an Extraordinary Awakened now, at Tier Three of Biological Level. Your skin is tougher than leather. Mosquitoes shouldn’t be able to bite you, right?"

Hearing this, Xia Shuran looked even more miserable. "That’s what I thought last night, too. I figured mosquitoes couldn’t bite me anymore, so I had my mom take down the mosquito net."

"And what happened? Since they couldn’t bite me, they just flew around me, buzzing nonstop. It was so annoying I thought my period would get messed up."

"Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore, so I got out of bed to hang the mosquito net back up."

"But you know how mosquito nets are. They’re a nightmare to hang up. It takes forever just to find the opening."

"Last night, it took me nearly a whole hour to finally get the net hung back up."

As Xia Shuran spoke, a look of envy appeared on her delicate, pretty face. "Senior, it would be so much better if we both lived in the north. The mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches, and rats there aren’t as annoying."

Gu Qing chuckled. "Junior, people adapt to their own environment. If you actually lived up north—say, you got into a northern university and stayed in a dorm—you probably couldn’t stand not showering every day, or having to go to a communal bathhouse to wash up with everyone else."

Xia Shuran nodded in agreement. "That’s true, too."

Chatting as they walked, the two entered Jixia Martial Arts Hall together.

On the way to the inner hall.

Gu Qing began to corrupt Xia Shuran, encouraging her to betray her master and ancestor. "Junior," he said, "your old ancestor is going to fight the two of us again, holding his power at the initial stage of Tier Four."

"I learned Advanced Qi Blood External Release this morning, so my combat power has gotten a decent boost."

"In a bit, let’s go all out. We’ll coordinate better and be a little more treacherous with our attacks. Use that long, thick, hard Bone Spear of yours and aim for your old ancestor’s vitals."

"For example, his eyes, crotch, butt, and other relatively vulnerable areas."

"Especially the crotch. Aim for it whenever you get the chance. The crotch is a man’s most vulnerable area. When it’s attacked, a man will instinctively defend himself."

"Even if the attack can’t break his defense, he’ll dodge out of male instinct."

"As long as your old ancestor dodges your spear thrust out of instinct, I’ll have a chance to land a powerful strike while he’s briefly locked in that defensive motion."

"Let’s see if we can push him into a corner and force him to raise his power level again!"

The more Gu Qing spoke, the more excited he became, a strong fighting spirit burning in his eyes.

He wanted to use his Tier Three power to overcome the newly-minted Tier Four Xia Wuyuan and achieve the feat of defeating a higher-tier opponent.

Xia Shuran hesitated. "Senior, specifically aiming for an opponent’s private parts... isn’t that a little... dishonorable?"

Ever since she began her martial arts training, her father, Xia Dongsheng, had constantly lectured her, engraving the concept of martial honor deep into her very being.

According to her teachings, martial artists had to compete in an open and honorable manner.

Deliberately targeting an opponent’s vitals was considered a despicable and underhanded tactic.

Even victory would be tainted by such a method.

Gu Qing said dismissively, "Junior, when it comes to life-or-death battles and contests of power, martial honor is the most useless thing there is. It can even backfire and cause you to fail unexpectedly."

"You have to understand, the Extraordinary World is full of danger. Those man-eating monsters aren’t going to care about martial honor. If you insist on restraining yourself with it, you’ll only be at a disadvantage in a life-or-death fight."

"I don’t know what kind of teachings you received growing up with martial arts, but when it comes to whether a martial artist should adhere to the Martial Dao, you’d better listen to me."

Gu Qing said this last sentence with earnest gravity, teaching Xia Shuran as if she were his own daughter.

After listening, Xia Shuran pressed her lips together.

After a moment of internal struggle.

She finally decided to listen to Gu Qing. Tossing aside her so-called martial honor, she said, full of fighting spirit, "Alright then! I’ll use my Dragon Spear to support you, Senior. I’ll aim right for the old ancestor’s vitals and stab him until he can’t take care of himself anymore!"

"A teachable student indeed!"

Gu Qing gave Xia Shuran a thumbs-up.

His little junior was even more receptive to advice than he had expected.

This made him grow even fonder of his little junior.

’After all, what man wouldn’t like an eighteen-year-old girl who’s sensible, obedient, easy to mold, and highly adaptable?’

...

「A few minutes later.」

Gu Qing and Xia Shuran walked into the inner hall together.

Xia Wuyuan, who had just returned from fishing, was currently sitting cross-legged on a cattail cushion, meditating to cultivate his spirit.

Hearing footsteps approaching from behind, Xia Wuyuan spoke slowly, "Are you two here to practice combat with this old man again?"

Gu Qing expertly laid on the flattery. "Elder Xia, your foresight is truly godlike!"

Xia Wuyuan rose from the cushion, turned, and stood with his hands clasped behind his back. He looked at the two of them and said coolly, "Then bring it on. I hope my training helps the two of you grow quickly."

"Elder Xia, please instruct us!"

The words had barely left his mouth when Gu Qing activated his Qi Blood External Release, and a layer of scorching, blood-red hardened armor covered both his fists.
