I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World

Chapter 93: Silver Vertical Pupil

"Su Mu! Are you still alive?"

"Brother Su, please don't die! Bronze Coffin hasn't paid my salary this month. I really can't afford to chip in for your funeral!"

Su Mu opened his eyes and looked at the two people in front of him. "Stop shaking me."

Yang Dongqing and Jun Wushang instantly lit up with joy.

"Thank goodness, Brother Su. You're finally awake."

"What just happened? Where did that statue go?"

Su Mu slowly pushed himself off the ground. Even though he had been lying there, not a speck of dust clung to him or his clothes—this was the Immaculate Heart at work.

"Now isn't the time to chat. Let's hurry up and leave. It won't be long before the Land of Sacrifice collapses."

Su Mu didn't waste his breath. He led the three of them straight toward the exit of the Land of Sacrifice. After only two steps, however, he stopped and held out his hand to Yang Dongqing. "Hand it over."

Yang Dongqing paled. "Hand... hand what over?" he stammered.

The next moment, his vision went completely black. He felt a sudden lightness at his waist, and when his sight returned, he found Su Mu holding a Silver Handgun.

He gave a sheepish smile and awkwardly scratched his head. "I... I didn't mean anything by it. I was going to carry you to the hospital on my back and was worried the ride would be bumpy. Didn't want the gun to fall out..."

Su Mu couldn't be bothered to respond. He turned to Jun Wushang. "Did you think I wasn't talking to you?"

Jun Wushang's face fell. He dug into his Daoist robes, pulled out five Mithril Bullets, and handed them over.

Su Mu glared at them. "I'm not even dead yet, and you're already dividing up my inheritance?"

The two men looked incredibly embarrassed. One scratched his head, while the other stared intently at the rocks by his feet.

"Besides, you aren't my kids. I doubt you have any inheritance rights."

"I..."

"Enough. Save your excuses. Given your atrocious behavior, in my capacity as head of the Bronze Coffin Intelligence Department, I have decided to confiscate your mission bonuses for this outing."

"What?! Didn't we just give the stuff back to you?"

"Huh? Brother Su, you're the department head?"

"Hurry up. This place is going to cave in."

As they spoke, cobweb-like fissures spread across the sky above the Land of Sacrifice, shattering the heavens like a broken mirror.

As they ran, Su Mu looked up. He felt a very strange sensation. He couldn't shake the feeling that this place was eerily similar to the Nightmare in the Nightmare World. Considering that the Nightmare World could invade the Real World, he suspected that this Land of Sacrifice had crossed over from the Nightmare World.

Then what were those black-robed and white-robed figures who had been kneeling before the Statue? Were they people from the Nightmare World, just like Tingting?

"Brother Su, where are we running to? We can't find the door we came through!" Jun Wushang cried anxiously.

Su Mu didn't answer. Instead, he focused his will on the center of his brow. A moment later, a slit tore open between his eyebrows, and the Silver Vertical Pupil abruptly pushed its way out, its gaze icy and detached.

Peering through the Silver Vertical Pupil, he quickly spotted the wooden door hidden in the void. As the holy light from his eye swept across the space, the door instantly materialized.

"Su Mu, on your forehead..." Yang Dongqing stared in shock, horrified to realize that this eye was identical to the one on the Angel Statue from before.

Su Mu offered no explanation. He simply led the three of them charging toward the wooden door. They moved fast—except for the bald man trailing at the very back of the group, Zhao Yongqiang.

However, something else was even faster. To be precise, it wasn't a person, but... The Unrememberable!

Trapped in the Land of Sacrifice this whole time, The Unrememberable saw the door appear. It flapped its wings and closed the distance in an instant, intending to rip it open and escape.

Since the creature was more than ten meters away from the group, they didn't forget The Unrememberable this time.

Yang Dongqing yelled urgently, "Su Mu, hurry! Use the Mithril Bullets!"

A flash of resignation crossed Su Mu's face. Sometimes, idiot teammates really left him speechless.

"If Mithril Bullets could really kill The Unrememberable, why do you think that sonic-wave guy didn't kill it earlier? Out of the goodness of his heart?"

Yang Dongqing froze, the realization finally hitting him.

At that moment, The Unrememberable shoved the door open. It had barely stepped half a foot inside when—Boom!

A beam of dazzling holy light abruptly blasted from Su Mu's third eye. The light struck The Unrememberable, and in an instant, its body was utterly annihilated within the beam, dissipating without a trace.

Just as Su Mu had said before, dealing with The Unrememberable was actually quite simple: either attack from a distance, or use a non-living entity like a puppet.

Previously, he hadn't possessed any ranged attacks and couldn't deal with The Unrememberable. But things were different now. After the dreamscape devoured the angel's Divinity, he had gained a portion of its angelic power—which manifested as the extra Silver Vertical Pupil on his forehead.

Although he couldn't draw out the eye's true power, it was ultimately a divine artifact. Even harnessing a mere fraction of it produced terrifying might.

The Unrememberable, which not even Mithril Bullets could kill, was instantly reduced to ash under this single gaze.

However, the backlash was severe. His spiritual energy and stamina were instantly drained bare. Not only that, but Su Mu could even feel massive swathes of his own cells dying off. His internal organs were failing, as though his very lifeforce had been forcibly siphoned away.

This single strike had killed The Unrememberable, but it also hurled him straight to the brink of death.

Su Mu's body uncontrollably pitched toward the ground. Jun Wushang hurriedly grabbed his arm, slung him over his shoulder, and sprinted out the door.

A long while later, two commercial vans drove away from the Abandoned District.

In the back seat of a van, Su Mu slumped weakly against the cushions. He never imagined that after surviving so much danger unscathed, he would almost die from the Silver Vertical Pupil's backlash at the very end. If lifespan were a measurable stat, he felt like that single blast had just shaved years off his life.

Using a divine artifact with a mortal body was still pushing it too far.

Ever since he became a Transcendent, it had been a while since he felt this weak. Well, great—now he was bound for a wheelchair again.

Sitting in the front passenger seat, Yang Dongqing was still babbling endlessly.

"Could you not dock my pay? I need to buy clothes for Jasmine as an apology. I made her cry from anger last time. Or just dock a little less, please?"

"Shut up. Didn't you pick up a few Mithril Bullets? You can sell them for cash." Su Mu couldn't be bothered to deal with Yang Dongqing. The moment The Unrememberable died, all their lost memories had returned.

Yang Dongqing also remembered that he was the one who had left the hickey on Jasmine's neck, and that he had bought her the new clothes himself. Guilt was currently eating him alive.

Naturally, Su Mu's memories had been restored as well. But whether they were restored or not didn't really matter—he had already deduced the missing pieces long before they came back.
