I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World

Chapter 505: Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws

  • Next Chapter

Su Mu gazed at the Great Web of Law spanning heaven, earth, and time itself. He could even see the various Laws he had once connected to.

Heart of Steel, Ceaseless Recovery, Follower of Strength, Demonic Heart Baleful Soul...

Now, every Law in the world was actually being commanded by Wuming. From the Bronze Laws to the Saint Laws, four giant webs of Law descended from the sky, firmly locking down the divine Primal Angel.

The awakening Primal Angel was like a fire doused with cold water. The dazzling holy light radiating from its body slowly extinguished, ultimately fading into dead silence.

At the same time, those four massive webs of Law gradually faded away, vanishing from sight.

Su Mu finally understood why Wuming's abilities were so comprehensive, allowing him to command the Three Thousand Laws to seal a God. It meant Wuming possessed every single Law!

Omnipotence!

Wuming's abilities had given Su Mu a bit of a shock. He had never imagined someone could connect to every Law.

It was common knowledge among Transcendents that one could only possess Laws from a single Transcendent Path. Even an existence with spiritual power as immense as Su Mu's only possessed two.

The first was the Giant Demon, and the second was the nightmare.

Of course, he could step onto a third or even fourth Transcendent Path. With his current spiritual power, he could absolutely do so. But to possess all the Laws like Wuming was impossible for him. This was no longer a matter of spiritual power.

The more Laws one connected to, the more one had to manage the conflicts and balances between them, not to mention the massive amount of time required to cultivate and master each one.

Just which God had Wuming fused with? Why could he command every Law in the world?

Doubts surged in Su Mu's heart. Was there truly a Demigod in this world capable of commanding the Three Thousand Laws?

Or perhaps... what he had fused with wasn't a Demigod at all, but... a True God!

The Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws!!

A name surfaced in Su Mu's mind. This was a God he had never seen. He had only first learned the title of Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws from Xiao Yuan back in the Land of Origin.

He remembered Xiao Yuan saying that during the war of the Gods, the first God to snatch the Creator's Authority... was exactly the Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws!

Later, the Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws was besieged by the Gods, and the God of Nightmares, Xuan Tian, took the opportunity to steal the authority away.

He didn't know what kind of divine power the Heavenly Venerate possessed, but from the words "Myriad Laws," the meaning was self-evident.

If that was truly the case...

Su Mu's crystal-blue eyes flickered. He silently put on his Tinted Glasses, a speculation horrifying enough to drive humanity to despair echoing in his mind.

There were no Laws in the world at all; every shred of mighty power came from the Gods!

And the origin of the Laws was the Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws!

The so-called connecting to a Law was, in essence, connecting to the Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws and using his power.

Just as the Primal Cultists used the power of the Primal Angel, there was no fundamental difference between a Transcendent and a Primal Cultist.

Humanity believed they didn't rely on Gods, that they stood independent and strong, growing more powerful step by step through their own efforts. Little did they know, there was never a path belonging to humans in this world.

Cultivating the Laws... how was that not just another form of faith in a God?

Hahaha...

Su Mu laughed silently. Fascinating! Truly fascinating!

It felt just like a person shouting "my life is decided by myself and not by the heavens," relying on their own efforts to shatter destiny, only to find in the end that their so-called efforts were also part of destiny's arrangement.

Breaking free from the shackles of fate with a mortal body—how could one know that this strenuous resistance wasn't a setup fate had written long ago?

No wonder both the Primal Divine Cult in Hell and those in Heaven loved to call Transcendents heretics. It turned out they were right.

The God of the Primal Cultists was the Primal Angel, while the God of the Transcendents was the Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws. To them, Transcendents were heretics who worshipped an evil God.

At that moment, Su Mu sensed a gaze resting upon him. He looked up and saw Wuming's calm face.

Deep within those serene eyes hid a surging undercurrent of darkness, meeting his gaze in silence.

"Su Mu, thank you," Wuming said calmly.

Su Mu narrowed his eyes slightly, the corners of his mouth curling into a smile. "You know me?"

He had never told Wuming his real name, always going by the alias of Pride.

Wuming nodded. "I fused with a portion of the Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws' source, allowing me to manipulate the Three Thousand Laws. Naturally, this includes... Future Sight."

Su Mu smiled. "So when the Temple of God Slaying initially invited the Lord of Illusory Ashes, the actual target was me."

"Correct. You would definitely seek out Illusion Ash for the Xuantian Origin, and I needed you, a Demigod, to deal with the Primal Divine Cult."

"Oh? You even know about the Xuantian Origin?"

"The Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws and the God of Nightmares are the only two fallen Gods, so I naturally have some understanding of it. This is not the place to talk. Follow me."

Wuming tapped his fingertip lightly, and a pitch-black rift instantly tore open in the void.

He glanced at Su Mu, then turned and walked into the rift. Huangquan and the Warrior Monk hurriedly followed.

Watching the three of them disappear, Su Mu smiled faintly. Another God was dead?

Xuan Tian died besieged by the Gods, so how did the Heavenly Venerate of Myriad Laws die? This Creator's Authority was truly cursed; whoever held it died.

He took a step forward, entering the rift as if using Shrink the Earth to an Inch.

...

...

The headquarters of the Temple of God Slaying.

Su Mu sized up the ancient and magnificent palace, chuckling softly. "So the Temple of God Slaying is actually a palace."

In the empty main hall of the palace, there were only the two of them, him and Wuming.

"This is a palace built above the dimensions, and it's also the place where we Demigods usually gather. I know you have many questions, but before answering them, I can tell you this: you and I are friends, not enemies.

"We are both humans. Regardless of your reasons, our common enemies are ultimately the Gods,"

Wuming said earnestly, gazing at Su Mu.

Su Mu nodded with a smile. "Why are you hostile toward the Gods?"

"For the continuation of the human race. To preserve the world," Wuming answered without a shred of hesitation.

"The Gods are the source of all disaster. You haven't seen what it was like when the Gods walked the earth, but I have. Through the long river of history, I've seen the ancient era, that age when humans and Gods coexisted.

"That was humanity's darkest era. The Gods manifested in the world at will. In their eyes, humans were no different from weeds. They didn't even need to go out of their way to slaughter humanity. They merely had to show their faces in a human kingdom—like a sun falling into the mortal realm—and countless people would die from the high-dimensional energy radiating from their bodies.

"Sometimes, conflicts would erupt between Gods, bringing absolute devastation to humanity. Countless human kingdoms in history were destroyed because of this, with innumerable casualties.

"Masses of ignorant people would also place their faith in Gods, then wage wars against each other over their differing beliefs. Yet, laughably, the Gods couldn't care less about human faith."
