I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 456: Ascending to Heaven
Su Mu handed Supreme Heaven to the puppet Yan Wu, then said to King Chi, "From now on, he will supervise you."
Only then did King Chi understand what Su Mu meant when he said she looked better in a phoenix robe.
Among the Seven Kings, King Chi put Su Mu at ease the most. She was brainless and never interfered in political affairs. To the Chiyan Empire, King Chi was more of a mascot—one who loved eating potato chips and reading unhealthy magazines.
Because of this, he had no intention of abolishing her. Leaving Yan Wu behind would intimidate the nobles of the Chiyan Empire, paving the way for future reforms.
"I don't want to be a King!" King Chi suddenly pouted.
"Then what do you want to be?"
"I want to be a Queen!"
"That's simple. After you get married, you can abdicate to someone more capable, and then you'll be a queen."
King Chi flew into a rage. She bared her teeth like a provoked puppy.
"Stop playing dumb...""I'm leaving," Su Mu said with a smile.
King Chi froze, her anger vanishing completely. "Where are you going?"
"To Heaven."
"What!? Are you going to die?" King Chi paled in fright.
Su Mu: "..."
...
...
Several days later.
News that the Seven Deadly Sins had taken control of the world was already known to all.
Countless people panicked, believing the apocalypse had arrived. Yet as time passed, they were surprised to find that nothing seemed to have happened.
Even though this evil organization clearly ruled the world, the Seven Deadly Sins hadn't done anything out of line. People continued living their lives just as they always had. Nothing had changed.
No, there had been some changes.
The nobles had disappeared. The once high and mighty nobles were abolished by the Seven Deadly Sins, and the laws of various countries became increasingly refined and strict.
Their disappearance did not stir up the slightest ripple. The reforms of the Seven Deadly Sins were like a gentle spring breeze and a soft drizzle, nourishing everything in absolute silence.
They seemed to have completely transformed from a world-destroying organization into a world-saving one. Miraculously, the public adapted to this shift incredibly fast, and there were no united voices of opposition against the Seven Deadly Sins anywhere across the globe.
All of this, naturally, was owed to Su Mu's Illusion Technique.
During this time, other than using his Illusion Technique to influence the world, Su Mu had been cultivating nonstop, making ample preparations for his journey to Heaven.
He split off a portion of his soul and completely transformed that fractured piece into the soul of a Giant Demon. With this, he was only a final half-step away from the Saint Grade, which required connecting to the Saint Law.
This operation didn't diminish his strength at all; instead, it made him slightly stronger.
His near-infinite mental strength could swiftly recover even after splitting off a portion. Coupled with his unique nature as a nightmare, there was absolutely no risk of damaging his foundation.
Now, with the body and soul of a Giant Demon acting as his cover, the chances of the Gods discovering his true nightmare body had grown even lower.
...
The Nightmare World.
As his final stop before heading to Heaven, Su Mu arrived at the headquarters of the Primal Divine Cult: Holy Brilliance City.
He treated the Xuan Tian World as a reserve base to stockpile his forces, and naturally, he wouldn't neglect the Nightmare World either.
He had no idea what Heaven was like, but regardless, the larger his own faction grew, the better. Perhaps one day, he would lead the people beneath the surface in a counterattack.
Therefore, he intended to manage it well.
"Hongye, from today onward, you are the new Primal Pope."
Su Mu said this to Hongye, who was entirely under his control.
"Yes, Leader!" Hongye knelt on one knee, his expression fervent.
"Your mission is to lead the Primal Divine Cult and continuously expand it. Furthermore, erect a Statue of me within the cult, and have the believers worship it day and night."
"Understood!"
Su Mu's reasoning was simple: he wanted to siphon away a portion of the Primal Angel's faith. Since all the Gods stood against him, the Primal Angel was no exception. He would exploit every advantage he could.
Now, he had finally settled everything.
"It's time to set out." Su Mu looked up at the sky. His profound gaze seemed capable of piercing through the thick subterranean rock walls all the way to the surface.
He slowly rose into the air, ascending endlessly. He soon surpassed the heights of Holy Brilliance City and entered the boundless Black Fog.
The Black Fog permeating his surroundings couldn't hinder his steps in the slightest; it even gave him a sense of familiarity.
After becoming a nightmare, he had finally learned the Black Fog's true name—Nightmare Fog.
Passing through layers of Nightmare Fog, Su Mu finally reached the apex of Hell. Right above him were the thick underground rock walls. These walls were incredibly difficult to destroy. For one, they were far too thick—at least tens of thousands of meters, if not more. For another, they bore the seals of the Gods.
Fortunately, as a nightmare, he could ignore those seals.
Gradually, Su Mu's figure turned transparent until he vanished completely.
At this moment, his reality became zero; he had wholly shifted into a state of non-existence.
Following that, Su Mu's consciousness stretched infinitely across the dimension of dreams. He ceaselessly searched for dreams within Heaven.
As long as there were still people in Heaven—as long as living beings still existed—dreams must surely exist. Once he found a dream, he could use it as a springboard to enter Heaven!
An hour passed, and Su Mu's consciousness was still extending. Two hours, three hours... Ten hours later, his mind finally brushed against a cluster of obscure fog. It was a fragile dream.
"I hope Heaven can bring me some new surprises."
With a smile of anticipation on his face, Su Mu instantly stepped into that fragile dream and successfully arrived in Heaven!
Upon passing through the dream fog, his vision suddenly cleared.
The afterglow of the setting sun shone down, dyeing a layer of gold over a jade-green pond. Lush lotus leaves swayed gently in the breeze. Occasionally, a few water droplets would roll off the leaves and hit the pond with a soft plop, sending tiny ripples across the surface.
Croak, croak...
A few faint frog calls echoed from the pond.
Looking at the beautiful scenery before him, Su Mu guessed that the environment in Heaven couldn't be too bad. Although he hadn't actually seen Heaven yet and was only standing within the dream of some Heavenly creature, a dream could, to a certain extent, reflect reality.
In places with plenty of beautiful dreams, the people usually didn't have it too bad.
He wasn't in a hurry to leave the dream. Instead, he planned to find the core subject of the dream, explore its memories, and gather intel on Heaven.
Thus, he slowly swept his gaze over the pond. To his surprise, after looking everywhere, he couldn't find the subject of the dream.
Croak, croak...
The noisy frog calls continued to ring out endlessly.
A look of surprise flashed across Su Mu's face. Could it be...?
He gently parted the obscuring lotus leaves, only to see a male toad clinging to the waist of a female toad on a leaf floating above the pond's surface.
The two toads croaked together. Under the afterglow of the setting sun, even the warts on their skin seemed to exude a peculiar sort of tenderness.
Seeing this scene, a poem suddenly popped into Su Mu's mind.
Lotus flowers drift across the lotus pond, while a male toad holds a female toad's waist.
He couldn't help but chuckle in surprise. "To think this is actually a toad's dream."
This was indeed somewhat unexpected. His habitual thinking made him assume it would be a human's dream. He never expected it to belong to a toad.
