I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World

Chapter 335: The Bragging Pope

"You shouldn't be asking me that question. Doesn't Your Holiness constantly listen to the teachings of the Primal Angel? Do you not even know whether you can ascend to Heaven?"

The Pope paled, his body trembling involuntarily. He nervously scanned his surroundings. Only after confirming the heavy doors were shut tight and the windows closed did he finally reveal the truth in a shaking voice.

"Lord Divine Envoy, I deserve death! The truth is, I can't actually hear the voice of the Primal Angel. I only used those claims to deceive the believers. But... but I did it all for the Primal Divine Cult! I know I'm not qualified, that I cannot listen to the voice of a God, but..."

"Enough," Su Mu interrupted indifferently. "The Primal Angel will judge your actions."

The Pope shuddered. His lips parted, but he ultimately gave up on defending himself.

"Since you cannot listen to the teachings of the Primal Angel, where did your God's Eye come from? Could it be that you imitated the Blasphemer and stole it..."

"No! I didn't!" the Pope hurriedly explained. "Lord Divine Envoy, I never did such a thing! The God's Eye was bestowed upon me by the Primal Angel. A hundred years ago, when I was just a boy, I joined the Primal Divine Cult and was tasked with cleaning the church.

"At the time, the Primal Angel Divine Statue was enshrined in the main hall. I swear, I didn't have any ulterior motives! I just saw dust on the statue, so I climbed up to wipe it clean. Then, holy light suddenly radiated from it, and I fainted. By the time I woke up..."

"You had acquired the God's Eye?"

"Yes! The Primal Angel chose me!" The Pope grew increasingly agitated, as if this was the very foundation of his faith.

Su Mu nodded. He figured the Pope wasn't acting. He didn't come to this conclusion because the Pope seemed particularly sincere, but based on basic logic.

Su Mu knew perfectly well what kind of nature the Primal Angel's Divinity possessed. Anyone who obtained the Primal Divinity would inevitably be brainwashed, completely reduced to a fanatic of the angel. Back then, if he hadn't possessed that special dreamscape, it would have been impossible for him to obtain the Primal Divinity while retaining his independent consciousness.

Since the Pope possessed Primal Divinity, he was a genuine believer of the Primal Angel. Unless... he possessed something similar to Su Mu's dreamscape.

If the Pope was also that kind of mindless fanatic, his current behavior wasn't hard to understand.

Su Mu asked again, "Then how are you so certain that I am a Divine Envoy? Why couldn't I be someone chosen by the Primal Angel Divine Statue, just like you?"

"Of course you are a Divine Envoy!" The Pope's voice rose in pitch, sounding even more convinced than Su Mu himself.

"There is only one Primal Angel Divine Statue in all of Hell, and it sits right here in Holy Brilliance City! The statues can sense each other, and there is absolutely not a second one in this world! Therefore, your God's Eye could only have been bestowed directly by the Primal Angel!

"Furthermore, you appear in Hell out of nowhere every time, and then vanish just as suddenly. I once used the Great Prophecy Technique to sense your location, but the answer I received was always that you were not in Hell.

"That means... you come from Heaven!"

At the mention of Heaven, the Pope's expression grew ever more fanatical, as though on a holy pilgrimage.

Heaven?

Su Mu mused to himself. If the Real World was Heaven, then why was there no sign of the Primal Angel?

He didn't delve too deeply into the matter. The descriptions of Gods given by zealots were undoubtedly true—they were just truths as they believed them to be, rather than the objective truth.

He still had a more important matter to attend to: Supreme Heaven!

"I have descended to the lower realm this time for a specific person."

The Pope's expression turned solemn. "Who is it? The Primal Divine Cult has millions of followers. Even if we have to turn the entire Middle Prison upside down, we will definitely help you find this person."

Su Mu slowly shook his head. "You know this person."

"I know them? Is it a believer within the Cult?"

"The Blasphemer."

The Pope's expression changed, a flash of hatred passing through his eyes. "Lord Divine Envoy is looking for the Blasphemer? That man blasphemed against the Gods; he truly deserves divine punishment. However, there is something you do not know, Lord Divine Envoy. The Blasphemer already died in the Abyss."

"No, he isn't dead."

"What?! How is that possible? That's the Abyss! It seals countless abyssal creatures and evil Gods. Legends even say that nightmares originated from the Abyss. It is an absolute forbidden zone for the living; anyone who enters will undoubtedly die!"

Su Mu cast an indifferent glance at the Pope and said flatly, "I have come by the decree of the Primal Angel. Are you questioning the Primal Angel?"

Thud!

The Pope immediately dropped to one knee, lowering his head in terror. "I wouldn't dare."

"All you need to do is assist me in traveling to the Abyss to find the Blasphemer."

A look of reluctance flashed across the Pope's face. "Lord Divine Envoy, taking you to the Abyss isn't a problem, but I'm afraid I cannot follow you inside to find the Blasphemer."

He hurriedly explained, "Lord Divine Envoy, it's not that I don't dare enter the Abyss, but if I were to go in, I'm afraid I would immediately draw the gaze of the evil Gods. My death is a small matter, but it would be a disaster if I delayed your mission.

"Back then, the Blasphemer was attacking cults all over the Middle Prison, and no one could catch him. Eventually, he even set his sights on the Primal Divine Cult. I led tens of thousands of believers and dozens of cardinals to besiege him, successfully wounding him heavily. I thought victory was in our grasp, but who could have expected that thief possessed a supreme treasure? He actually managed to break through the siege by relying on it.

"However, I had already locked onto his aura, so he couldn't escape. I chased him the entire way. To survive, the Blasphemer ultimately fled into the Abyss.

"At the time, I didn't know how terrifying the Abyss was, so I followed him inside. But the moment we stepped into the edge of the Abyss, both of us were targeted by an evil God. The evil God's power crushed us. Fortunately, I hadn't gone too deep and was still near the edge. I used every ounce of my strength to escape, while the Blasphemer fell deep into the Abyss.

"Afterward, I sent quite a few men to the Abyss, but every single one of them perished. Through those multiple attempts, I finally understood the rules of the Abyss."

A look of lingering fear surfaced on the Pope's face.

"What rules?" Su Mu asked.

The Pope took a deep breath and spoke slowly. "The gap between mortals and Gods is like the gap between ants and humans—perhaps even a hundred or a thousand times greater!

"And the Abyss is the sealing ground of the evil Gods. Think about it. If someone saw a single ant at their doorstep, they might not care, or they might not even notice it.

"But what if it were a dense, swarming mass of ants? Or an ant the size of a fist?"

Hearing this, Su Mu understood what the Pope meant. The Abyss was too dangerous for large groups to enter, because the more people there were, the easier it was to draw the attention of the evil Gods.

Moreover, powerful individuals like the Pope couldn't enter either, because the target they presented was too large.

Just as the Pope had said, a single ant would hardly catch a person's eye. But faced with a swarm of ants, someone might just pour boiling water down the anthill. Alternatively, if a particularly large or even colorful ant crawled into someone's house, their first reaction would usually be to squash it.

"Lord Divine Envoy, you chose to reside in a mortal vessel. That must have been to make it easier to enter the Abyss, right?"

Su Mu smiled faintly and gave no reply.
