I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World

Chapter 334: Lord Divine Envoy, There Were Too Many People Outside Just Now

  • Next Chapter

High above the clouds, a rift appeared out of thin air, and Su Mu and his group stepped through.

"Holy shit!" Lin Nanxing yelled in terror, instinctively grabbing Yang Dongqing next to him.

"We're in the sky!?"

"Divine Envoy, please look. Below us is the headquarters of the Primal Divine Cult, Holy Brilliance City," the Pope said, his gentle voice carrying a soothing power that quieted the panicked Lin Nanxing and the others.

Only then did they realize an invisible force was supporting their feet, allowing them to stand firm thousands of miles in the air.

Su Mu gazed downward. A massive, glorious city filled his vision.

The city's layout was bizarre. It looked like a gigantic eye formed from countless rows of closely packed buildings. Its outline was sharp and striking, like a brand left upon the earth by a god.

Sunlight poured down from the vault of heaven, bathing the massive urban eye and making it shimmer with golden radiance. It gave the unsettling illusion that the eye was alive and staring right back at you.

At the very center of this eye—the pupil—stood a magnificent, towering cathedral. Its spire pierced the sky, reaching so high it almost touched where Su Mu and his group currently stood.

Shock flickered in the eyes of Su Qing and the others. Holy Brilliance City was simply too spectacular—so breathtaking it seemed impossible for human hands to have built. It looked more like a miracle!

"You have put thought into this," Su Mu commented coolly, acting like a leader descending from the upper realms on an inspection tour.

"You flatter us, Divine Envoy. A mere mortal city naturally cannot compare to the architecture of Heaven," the Pope replied humbly.

The Pope then led the group in a slow descent from the sky, flying toward the colossal cathedral at the heart of Holy Brilliance City.

As they drew closer, the details of Holy Brilliance City became much clearer.

The streets below twisted like a labyrinth, yet everywhere bore the marks of the Primal Divine Cult. The most common buildings in Holy Brilliance City were never shops, but churches and monasteries of all sizes.

Countless believers in pure white robes walked the streets. With serene, devout expressions, they carried the Primal Scripture and strolled slowly along, murmuring prayers that added a layer of sacred tranquility to the city.

Of course, Holy Brilliance City wasn't entirely populated by Primal Cultists. The vast majority were ordinary commoners, along with quite a few armored individuals carrying weapons on their backs.

The Pope carefully introduced the layout: "This is the civilian district, and over there is the commercial district..."

Su Mu looked slightly displeased. "Your Holiness, why are there so many non-believers in Holy Brilliance City?"

The Pope hurried to explain. "Please quell your anger, Divine Envoy. As the largest Dream World in the Middle Hell, Holy Brilliance City is home to a full ten million people. It is the trade hub and transportation nexus for the entire Middle Prison. Every day, a massive influx of outsiders arrives, alongside merchants from all over and Nightmare Hunters who make their living slaying nightmares.

"The populace is complex and highly transient, so when it comes to missionary work..."

"Difficulty is not an excuse; it is your driving force! As the most devout believers of the Primal Angel, we have the duty and obligation to spread His radiance across the world! His light must shine upon every living soul!" Su Mu's tone grew increasingly severe.

He didn't care if the Pope truly considered him a Divine Envoy or had ulterior motives. Since the Pope had acknowledged his identity, the old man had to take the scolding.

Terrified, the Pope bowed deeply and apologized over and over.

Yang Dongqing and the others stared in stunned silence.

A peerless expert suspected to be a Gold King was being ruthlessly berated by Su Mu, looking like a schoolboy who hadn't finished his homework.

Soon, the group touched down inside the cathedral grounds. Tens of thousands of devout believers had long been waiting at the entrance. The moment they saw Su Mu land, they dropped to one knee and shouted with fanatical fervor.

"We greet the Lord Divine Envoy!"

Their voices were so loud they nearly shattered the clouds.

Su Mu stood with his hands clasped behind his back. The God's Eye on his forehead opened, and faint ripples of Divinity spread across the square. His voice rang out, majestic and booming: "God is with you."

As soon as the words left his lips, the fanatical atmosphere exploded like a lit powder keg.

Some flushed bright red, too excited to speak; others wept freely, kowtowing like madmen. A few believers even fainted on the spot.

Su Qing blinked, utterly dumbfounded. She exchanged glances with her companions and found all of their jaws hanging open. They knew the inside story: Su Mu had explained earlier that he'd obtained the God's Eye by pure chance, which led the Primal Divine Cult to mistakenly assume he was a Divine Envoy.

What they hadn't expected was for Su Mu to play the part so flawlessly. Anyone who didn't know the truth would genuinely believe he was a real divine messenger.

"Divine Envoy, please come inside." Under the Pope's guidance, the group entered the cathedral.

Compared to its spectacular exterior, the cathedral's interior was far more intricate. Beneath the massive vaulted ceiling, stained-glass windows refracted mysterious, brilliant rays of light. Every beam seemed meticulously designed as it spilled over the rows of pews and exquisite marble pillars.

The walls were covered in frescoes of mythological tales, ranging from the primal origins and the legends of saints, all the way to depictions of the Pope himself.

As they walked past the murals, Su Mu cast them a glance. They depicted the Primal Angel as the very first angel in the world—the King of Angels and the origin of their kind, commanding all angels across the realms from His home in Heaven.

Soon, the group was arranged to rest in a grand hall, while the Pope led Su Mu to a side chamber.

The moment they entered, the Pope immediately dropped to one knee and lowered his head, as if in confession.

"Lord Divine Envoy, there were too many people outside just now. As the Pope, I had to maintain my dignity. Please forgive me.

"You were absolutely right earlier. The radiance of the Primal Angel must shine upon the world. I have led the Primal Divine Cult all these years and failed to achieve this. It is my dereliction of duty, and I beg the Lord Divine Envoy for punishment."

Su Mu's eyes flickered. He hadn't expected the Pope to lower himself this much. Either the man was extremely devout, or he was plotting something massive.

"You truly do deserve punishment."

The Pope lowered his head even further.

"However, this Envoy has descended to the mortal realm for an important matter. If you assist me, you might be able to atone for your failures," Su Mu said impassively.

The Pope beamed at those words. He lifted his head, his wrinkled face blooming into a smile as bright as a chrysanthemum. "Whatever the Lord Divine Envoy commands!"

"Very well. Rise."

The Pope hurriedly got up and stood respectfully to the side. He cast a cautious glance at Su Mu, hesitating for a long time before finally whispering, "Lord Divine Envoy, can I still ascend to Heaven?"

Su Mu kept his face perfectly neutral, but his deep eyes continuously appraised the Pope, as if trying to see through the old man's heart. However, all he saw in the Pope's eyes was devotion and anxiety, no different from the other Primal Cultists he had met before.

No, there was a difference. The Pope looked even more devout than them.

Those of low status were accustomed to bowing their heads, but for someone in such a high position to do the same made him appear far more pious.
