I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 300: The Undead King's Envoy
"The bad news is, the Undead King has his eyes on you."
At the mention of the Undead King, Nangong Mengli's smile slowly faded, replaced by a grave expression.
Reputations carry weight. As one of the Seven Kings and an expert at the absolute peak of the world today, the Undead King's mere name was enough to exert immense pressure on anyone.
"Oh?" Su Mu smiled faintly, his interest piqued.
"He sent an envoy who wants to meet you. That envoy is currently at the Revolutionary Army's base."
"The Revolutionary Army?" Su Mu narrowed his eyes, instantly understanding why the Undead King's envoy was there.
"Yes, the Revolutionary Army. The Undead King doesn't know your true identity, but he knows Pride once rescued the Revolutionary Army's commander, Specter. Thus, he concluded that the Seven Deadly Sins are connected to the Revolutionary Army. He sent his envoy to Specter, hoping to pass a message to the Seven Deadly Sins through him."
"And then Specter came looking for you?"
Nangong Mengli nodded. "Exactly. Only the Revolutionary Army knows I'm connected to the Seven Deadly Sins. Since they couldn't reach you, they naturally sought me out. I assume they consider me just an outer-fringe member of the Seven Deadly Sins. After all, with my strength at the Silver Tier, I wouldn't qualify as a formal member.
"What do you plan to do? Do you want to meet the Undead King's envoy?""Why wouldn't I? I'd very much like to see what the Undead King wants with me at this point in time." Su Mu smiled gently, pushing up his Tinted Glasses to conceal the dark gleam in his eyes.
He was genuinely curious. Logically speaking, he and the Undead King were already enemies. After all, the Undead King's actions had been aimed at forcing King Chi to use Supreme Heaven to kill him.
This was already a blood feud.
Yet now, this very enemy was secretly reaching out to him. How interesting.
"I knew you would meet him. Others might fear the name of the Seven Kings, but Pride does not." Nangong Mengli watched Su Mu, her beautiful eyes filled with a smile.
In her eyes, this mysterious man was forever elegant and composed, even when facing the Undead King.
"Alright, the bad news is out of the way. Let's move on to the good news. My second Silver Law, [Merciful Release], is considered an offensive Law. Its function is to increase my attack power, allowing me to strike with an effect similar to shattering a target's defenses.
"The reason the Nangong Family terrified its enemies in the past wasn't solely because of [Instant Bloom]. Although it's a time-attribute Law, its fundamental purpose is to increase speed. When I was at Silver 1, the main reason I could instantly kill the Silver 3 Murong Family Head was because all of his Laws focused on speed and attack, lacking any defense whatsoever.
"To deal with a Transcendent like that, a single small dagger is enough to claim their life. But if I had to fight a Silver 1 [Follower of Strength], I'm afraid it would be incredibly difficult.
"Because no matter how fast I am, I wouldn't be able to break a [Follower of Strength]'s defenses."
Su Mu nodded. "In that case, the attack-boosting [Merciful Release] and your [Instant Bloom] are a perfect match."
"Yes. The Nangong Family's Laws were born entirely for assassination, abandoning all defense in pursuit of the ultimate lethal strike!"
"And what about Duanmu Qing's [Forest Devour]?"
"[Forest Devour] is also an offensive Law. [Breath of the Wood Spirit] leans toward controlling plants and extracting medicinal properties, whereas [Forest Devour] is purely for slaughter. The plants Duanmu Qing controls now possess the trait of devouring energy. This means that once an enemy is ensnared by her flora, the energy within their body will be frantically drained until they die."
"It seems the two great generals of the Seven Deadly Sins are finally beginning to show their true edge," Su Mu teased.
Nangong Mengli smiled sweetly. "Naturally. Our Leader heavily wounded King Chi. As formal members of the organization, we can't afford to fall too far behind."
"Don't believe rumors, and don't spread them."
"Hahaha..."
Her silvery laughter rang out in the office. Nangong Mengli thoroughly enjoyed this atmosphere, but she knew that a man like Su Mu would never linger in one place for too long.
A man's heart was like a cloud in the sky—forever drifting and unpredictable.
"When do you plan to go see the Undead King's envoy?"
"Now."
Nangong Mengli muttered in dissatisfaction, "I knew it."
...
...
Amidst a wasteland in the northern reaches of the Chiyan Empire, a subterranean base lay hidden beneath the endless yellow sands.
This was a stronghold of the Revolutionary Army.
"Mr. Wu Hui, I have already sent someone to contact the Seven Deadly Sins. Please wait patiently," Specter said mildly.
Sitting across from him was a pale, gaunt, yet handsome man. He wore a black stand-up collar cloak, the high collar rising so far it nearly covered both sides of his cheeks.
The inner lining of the cloak was a deep, blood-red.
Whether in appearance or attire, Wu Hui perfectly fit the world's stereotype of the Blood Clan. It was also the most common style of dress in the Blood Moon Empire.
Because the Blood Clan despised sunlight—and Low Tier vampires outright died upon exposure to it—they always favored large cloaks. This allowed them to wrap their entire bodies up during the day to block out the sun.
Wu Hui's expression was indifferent as he set down his crystal goblet, the dark crimson blood swirling inside.
"Commander Specter, it has been three days. I highly doubt the efficiency of the Revolutionary Army. You had best hurry your subordinates along. You must understand that I come bearing the Undead King's orders. I can wait, but the King cannot."
Wu Hui's words were utterly discourteous. Even though he was merely a Silver Grade vampire, and even though he was deep within Revolutionary Army territory, his arrogant, aloof demeanor made him seem as if he were the master of this place.
Specter's brows furrowed imperceptibly, but he didn't show his displeasure. Instead, he followed Wu Hui's demand, calling over a subordinate and telling them to go follow up.
He could not afford to offend the Undead King. Especially after witnessing the sheer gap between himself and King Chi, he understood more clearly than ever what it truly meant to be a King.
The Revolutionary Army was already a thorn in King Chi's side. If they also managed to offend the Undead King, they would truly have nowhere left to stand in this world.
Wu Hui was quite satisfied with Specter's attitude. He lifted his goblet once more and savored the blood within.
"Commander Specter, I recall mentioning that I prefer the blood of virgins. What do you mean by trying to fool me with the blood of a man?"
Specter's expression darkened. He was just about to speak when his face suddenly changed, and he turned to look at the doorway.
Standing quietly there was a tall, straight-backed man wearing a black tailcoat and a Silver-White Mask. No one knew when he had arrived.
He looked like a gentleman who had just stepped out of an oil painting. Merely by standing there, he gave off a presence that could not be ignored.
Some people were born protagonists; the moment they appeared, they drew all eyes, like a crane standing among chickens. The phrase applied to him perfectly.
"Your Excellency Pride, you have arrived." Specter hurriedly stood up and nodded in greeting.
Wu Hui narrowed his eyes. Swirling his goblet, he looked Pride up and down, taking in the contemptuous smiling face on that Silver-White Mask.
"Your reputation precedes you. Pride, Head of the Seven Deadly Sins—truly extraordinary." He plastered a fake smile onto his face.
Cold, indifferent eyes looked through the Silver-White Mask at Wu Hui. "I don't like it when people sit while speaking to me."
Wu Hui's smile froze. He slowly set down his goblet and stood up, looking rather stiff. "Pardon my rudeness."
