I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 290: Twisted Divinity
Amid the blinding holy light, only Su Mu kept his eyes open. The radiance seemed to have no effect on him at all.
Time seemed to stand still. Everyone froze in place, awestruck by the boundless divine might.
Under his gaze, the Twisted Divine Statue atop the mountain peak began to blur, as if the holy light were erasing it from existence.
He had aimed this strike entirely at the statue. The Twisted Bishop was merely a puppet of the god. As long as the statue remained, the bishop could resurrect endlessly through its divine power.
Soon, the statue could hold out no longer, melting away inch by inch under the holy light. As it crumbled into nothingness, a tiny twisted vortex materialized out of thin air.
Su Mu understood Divinity far too well. He recognized it at a glance—it was the Divinity of the Twisted God!
Seeing that the holy light was about to grind the Divinity away as well, he hurriedly closed God's Eye. At the same time, his Divine Touch lashed out. The black tentacles extended endlessly, reaching the mountain peak in an instant to wrap around the Twisted Divinity and successfully capture it.
A moment later, the Twisted Divinity entered his body. The Divinity of the Three Gods dwelling in his soul surged simultaneously to suppress it, easily subduing the severely withered entity and integrating it into his soul.
The instant they fused, crystalline blue light flared in Su Mu's eyes. Countless twisted vortices appeared out of thin air all around him, the very fabric of space violently contorting.
He closed his eyes, and the mysterious Dream World manifested around him.The Dream World churned violently. A strange sensation washed over Su Mu, as if the realm were ascending in dimension. The dream rose higher and higher, growing ever closer to reality—even faintly beginning to interact with the Nightmare World.
"Lord Divine Envoy, are you all right?" Hongye asked, his voice laced with concern.
Su Mu abruptly opened his eyes, and all the strange phenomena vanished. The blinding holy light scattered at a visible rate.
"I am fine."
Gradually, the others were finally able to open their eyes. When they saw the battlefield clearly, they were left utterly dumbfounded.
The statue... was gone!
More than half of the mountain had disappeared as well. Everything from the waist up had vanished out of thin air along with the statue, completely annihilated.
Not only that, but all the twisted ones were dead, as if their souls had been extracted. The Primal Divine Cult had naturally suffered heavy losses as well. Only a few hundred people remained standing; the rest had perished in the sacrifice.
However, the Twisted Bishop was not dead. Su Mu had intentionally spared his life.
"No!" the Twisted Bishop roared in utter breakdown. Staring at the vanished statue, his eyes were splitting with rage. His body, previously held together by divine power, now threatened to split apart once more. Large chunks of flesh and blood sloughed off his frame.
Yet he showed no reaction at all, continuing to stare at the empty spot where the statue had been.
"This is impossible! The Twisted God is invincible! Invincible!" He staggered toward the mountain peak, shedding more and more flesh with every step.
Before he could even take a few steps, his body completely fell apart, scattering into countless gruesome pieces.
Even so, the Twisted Bishop refused to die. His severed head squirmed against the ground, determined to crawl toward his god!
Just then, an exquisite, luxurious Snakewood Cane planted itself in front of his face, blocking his path.
The bishop shifted his gaze upward. A gentle, elegant figure filled his vision.
"You..."
Moving gently, Su Mu retrieved his Tinted Glasses from his pocket and slid them back onto his face, concealing his deep eyes. He glanced down at the bishop, his tone as dismissive as ever. "Do you remember what I said? You and your god... are equally laughable."
The bishop's expression twisted savagely, but an instant later, his eyes went blank.
He had been hypnotized. Teetering on the verge of death, he possessed absolutely no strength to resist Su Mu's hypnosis.
Taking advantage of the brief window before the man's life force completely dissipated, Su Mu questioned him for intel on the First Red King.
"Tell me everything you know about the Blasphemer."
The bishop parted his lips with difficulty. "The Blasphemer invaded this place three years ago. He attacked the Holy Temple, severed the statue's right hand, and swaggered off."
Su Mu's eyes flickered. As expected of the First Red King, his strength was not to be underestimated. Although the Twisted Bishop was only at the Gold Grade, he had the Twisted Divine Statue backing him. The power of a god was not something a Gold could block.
Su Mu had sacrificed tens of thousands of Primal Cultists to empower God's Eye just to destroy the statue. Yet the First Red King had charged into the Holy Temple single-handedly, severed the statue's right hand, and strolled away. His strength was truly unfathomable.
"Why did he sever the statue's right hand?"
"To steal the power of the god."
The First Red King was also after Divinity?
The corners of Su Mu's mouth curled up slightly. Interesting. He had only managed to fuse Divinity by relying on his unique dream realm. Did the First Red King steal Divinity in order to fuse it as well? What did he rely on? Supreme Heaven?
"Where did he go after leaving?"
"He... he went to..."
The bishop's voice abruptly ceased as his breath faded completely. Bereft of twisted divine power's support, he had only managed to survive this long thanks to the foundation of a Gold Grade powerhouse.
Su Mu frowned slightly. He hated riddlers, even if the bishop hadn't died mid-sentence on purpose.
"Is Lord Divine Envoy searching for the Blasphemer?" Hongye walked over respectfully.
Su Mu nodded. "You know of the Blasphemer?"
Hongye's demeanor grew even more reverent. After all, he had just watched the Lord Divine Envoy erase a rival cult's statue with God's Eye. The display was nothing short of a miracle.
"To answer the Lord Divine Envoy, the Blasphemer has long been a wanted fugitive across the entire Middle Prison. He works alone, wielding powerful and mysterious abilities, and he has continually attacked the major cults over the years. That is precisely why he earned the title of Blasphemer."
This was something Su Mu hadn't anticipated. He had originally thought the First Red King only attacked the Twisted Divine Cult, prompting the Twisted Bishop to call him the Blasphemer. It turned out the man launched indiscriminate assaults, giving every cult an equal share of the beatings.
He couldn't help but elevate his estimation of the First Red King's strength once more. For a person to repeatedly attack the major cults and survive—even with the backing of Supreme Heaven—required a truly terrifying level of power.
"Then where is he now?" Su Qing dragged her heavily injured body over, asking anxiously.
Hongye turned his head slightly to glance at Su Qing. He then looked back to Su Mu and asked respectfully, "Lord Divine Envoy, who is this..."
"A servant I took in after descending to the mortal realm."
A flash of anger surged in Su Qing's eyes, as if she were about to bare her fangs and claws, but she managed to hold it back. She cared far more about the First Red King's whereabouts—or, more accurately, the whereabouts of Supreme Heaven.
Whether her father lived or died wasn't important. The important thing was that Supreme Heaven could not be lost.
"I see." Hongye's gaze shifted back to Su Qing, now mixed with a trace of envy. To become the servant of the Lord Divine Envoy was a blessing cultivated over several lifetimes! As long as she served the Lord Divine Envoy well, wasn't ascending to Heaven a guaranteed certainty?
"The Blasphemer is already dead."
"How did he die?"
