I Use Illusions to Control the Whole World
Chapter 115: The Truth of the Nightmare World?
Warmth—a warmth like basking in the sun.
This was Su Mu's first sensation upon waking.
"The Divine Envoy is awake!"
"Wonderful! The Divine Envoy is finally awake! Praise the Primal Angel!"
Thud, thud...
Over a dozen white-robed figures knelt around Su Mu, bowing with devout, fanatical expressions. They murmured prayers, and some even wept tears of excitement.
Su Mu briefly scanned his surroundings. He discovered his eyes were healed; he no longer needed to rely on his Silver Vertical Pupil for vision. Not only that, but the physical damage caused by the giant eye's gaze had vanished, and his stamina had returned to its peak.
He was currently leaning back on a crude Stone Seat, which was being carried by two white-robed figures.
"Put me down," Su Mu ordered with practiced ease. He could roughly guess why these white-robed figures were so fanatical—it was likely because of his Silver Vertical Pupil.
Hearing this, the two white-robed figures quickly lowered the Stone Seat and joined the kneeling crowd."What about the Snakefolk from before?"
"To answer the Divine Envoy, the evil god's spawn have already been slain. These filthy beasts dared to try and harm the Divine Envoy; they deserved a thousand deaths. It's a pity we brought so few men this time. Otherwise, we would have captured every last one of those beasts, brought them back to the cult, and burned them to death with holy fire!"
The one who replied was a tall white-robed figure. His status seemed higher than the others, as his white robe was the only one trimmed with red.
Su Mu asked impassively, "All of them?"
The tall white-robed figure's body trembled, his head practically touching the ground. He choked out, "To answer the Divine Envoy, it is my incompetence for failing to kill all the evil god's spawn. I know that every extra moment those spawn live is a blasphemy against the Primal Angel! But we had too few men this time, so we could only break through the encirclement with you first.
"However, please rest assured. Once we return to the Primal Divine Cult, I will immediately report this to the Pope. When that time comes, we will definitely wipe out all of those evil god's spawn!"
Primal Divine Cult? Pope? It sounded like a faction that worshipped the Primal Angel, but to think a human cult actually existed within this Black Fog?
Were these white-robed figures humans, or Nightmare Creatures?
Seeing Su Mu fall silent, the tall white-robed figure grew increasingly terrified. "This lowly one is incompetent. Please punish me, Divine Envoy."
"No, you did very well. The Primal Angel has seen everything you've done," Su Mu said gently, patting the tall white-robed figure on the head.
Upon hearing these words, the tall white-robed figure trembled with intense excitement, as if experiencing a wave of sheer euphoria. Large teardrops continually splattered against the rocky ground as he kowtowed madly. "Praise the Primal Angel! Praise the Divine Envoy!"
Looking at the man's fanatical state, Su Mu suddenly felt that if he ordered him to die right now, the man would commit suicide without hesitation.
"What is your name?"
"To answer the Divine Envoy, this lowly one is named Wan."
"Wan?" Su Mu frowned slightly. "And your surname?"
"This lowly one has no surname. After joining the Primal Divine Cult, all followers must erase their surnames. A surname represents a family; it represents ancestors. The followers of the Primal Divine Cult cannot possess any symbols representing external things. We are believers of the Primal Angel; we can only symbolize the Primal Angel."
Su Mu hadn't expected the Primal Divine Cult's brainwashing of its followers to reach such exaggerated extremes.
"Raise your head."
"Yes, Divine Envoy."
Wan immediately raised his head, revealing an extremely pale face. A corpse dead for three days wouldn't be as white as him.
"Everyone, raise your heads."
Soon, the dozen or so white-robed figures also raised their heads, their faces equally ghastly pale.
Seeing this, Su Mu understood. These people must have lived in the Black Fog for a long time. Having never seen the sun, their skin had taken on this extreme pallor.
"How did you locate this Divine Envoy?"
"Divine Envoy, we are an exploration team sent by the Pope to search for Heaven. There are hundreds of other exploration teams like ours spread across nearly half of Hell. Three days ago, our squad suddenly sensed the aura of holy light. We rushed here, and as a result, we encountered you, Divine Envoy."
"Oh? To think you could recognize this Divine Envoy even while I possess a mortal body?"
"The eye on your forehead is the legendary God's Eye, exactly the same as the Pope's eye. Even in death, this lowly one could never mistake it." Wan looked at Su Mu's forehead with reverence.
"Your Pope also has a God's Eye?"
At the mention of the Pope, the reverence on Wan's face deepened. "The Pope is the person closest to God. He can even listen to the teachings of the Primal Angel, so he was also bestowed with the God's Eye. Divine Envoy, if the Pope knew you were here, he would definitely be overjoyed."
Su Mu smiled noncommittally. It seemed he couldn't go to this Primal Divine Cult. He wasn't a believer of the Primal Angel; he had merely relied on the dream realm to devour a drop of the angel's blood. If the Pope wasn't boasting and could truly communicate with the Primal Angel, then going there would be tantamount to throwing himself into a net.
Wan continued fanatically, "Divine Envoy, you must have descended from Heaven, right? Are you here to guide us to Heaven?"
Heaven? Hell?
Su Mu's gaze flickered. Hell should refer to the Black Fog world, but what about Heaven? He didn't know what the Heaven Wan spoke of was. Could he mean the Real World?
"This Divine Envoy naturally came from Heaven, but I am not here to guide you. Only the most devout believers are qualified to head to Heaven."
As soon as his voice fell, the dozen or so white-robed figures instantly became agitated, scrambling over each other to prove their devotion.
"Divine Envoy, I was born in the Primal Divine Cult. My life's purpose is to go to Heaven and return to the embrace of the Primal Angel."
"Divine Envoy, I am devout enough. I can recite all one hundred and eight holy scriptures of the cult from memory."
Unwilling to be outdone, Wan said, "Divine Envoy, I am the high priest of the Primal Divine Cult; I am the most devout!"
Su Mu pushed up his Tinted Glasses and said indifferently, "Devotion isn't just something to be spoken of. As for who can enter Heaven, this Divine Envoy has his own considerations."
When he spoke, the surrounding chaotic voices instantly fell silent.
"First, tell me your understanding of Heaven and Hell. Those who can't even grasp the concepts have no right to enter Heaven."
Hearing this, Wan immediately flushed red with excitement. It was as if this question had scratched an itch, and he blurted out without hesitation, "The place we are currently in is Hell, and Heaven is the place where God exists. The divine kingdom of the Primal Angel is in Heaven."
Su Mu frowned slightly. Saying that was the same as saying nothing at all. "Is your understanding of Heaven and Hell really this shallow?"
