Aegis came back toward the bed and crawled in Kouhei’s direction, and judging by the expression on her face and the strange excitement in her eyes, she looked less like a nun at that moment and more like a dangerous succubus who had finally found the exact thing she had been searching for. There was something about the way she moved that immediately made Kouhei uneasy, and he couldn’t quite explain why, although his instincts were practically screaming at him that he needed to be careful.

Thankfully, since Kouhei was a demon, the spell Aegis had used against him hadn’t worked strongly enough to completely render him unconscious. It had affected him for a while and kept him from properly reacting, but it hadn’t been powerful enough to keep him under for the entire night.

Aegis stared at him for several seconds, and the expression on her face made it painfully obvious that her entire plan had just collapsed right in front of her.

"I’m so sorry," Aegis said, dropping down onto the floor before folding her upper body forward in a deeply apologetic posture.

Kouhei was now completely free from the restraints, and he stared down at Aegis with an expression that made it clear he wasn’t exactly impressed. Considering what she had attempted to do, he thought that reaction was fairly reasonable, because waking up to discover that someone had secretly restrained him and intended to keep him unconscious until morning wasn’t exactly the kind of surprise anyone would appreciate.

"I’m really sorry. Please, don’t report me to the authorities..." she pleaded, her voice sounding genuinely frightened now.

She certainly sounded sorry, and Kouhei could tell that she understood she had crossed a serious line. Still, being remorseful afterward didn’t magically erase what she had attempted to do, and Kouhei wasn’t about to pretend that it hadn’t been a serious matter.

Kouhei had seriously underestimated her, though. From the way she was apologizing and practically shrinking into herself on the floor, she seemed genuinely afraid of what would happen if anyone discovered what she had done. After seeing that, Kouhei figured that forgiving her was possible, provided she actually understood that she couldn’t repeat something like this again.

"Well, as long as you don’t do it again, and you don’t do something like this to anyone else either, I’ll forgive you. Still, why did you even do something like that in the first place?"

Aegis slowly sat upright again, looking embarrassed as she tried to figure out how exactly she was supposed to explain herself.

"C-Can’t you already tell just by looking at my room?" she asked, gesturing vaguely around the place.

Kouhei glanced around the room again, and the answer became fairly obvious almost immediately.

Clearly, this woman’s tastes were more than a little hardcore. "Well, not really, because what I said is true," Aegis replied. "We aren’t normal nuns, after all. We are people who want to pursue evil and then extinguish it. That’s the whole purpose behind what we do. The church simply wouldn’t turn a blind eye if they found out that one of their people was committing acts like this, and I would for sure be burned."

Kouhei considered her explanation for a moment, and despite everything that had happened, it did make a certain amount of sense within the strange rules of her organization.
