Chapter 326: Chapter 271: 8 Beasts Battle a Golden Core

"A Half-step Golden Core, huh..."

Li Minghan was startled. Zhang Tianwen, however, fell into contemplation upon hearing it. After a long moment, his gaze settled on Li Minghan and Yu Changsheng. He took a deep breath, and after another pause, he made his decision.

He suddenly smiled and said, "A Half-step Golden Core? I’ve even killed a full Golden Core. What’s a mere Half-step to me?"

"So, what do you think? Are you afraid? If you are, we can just avoid it."

Although he was inwardly quite excited about this Half-step Golden Core Fog Beast, Zhang Tianwen wasn’t reckless and decided to respect the opinions of his two companions.

"Well, with Senior Brother Zhang protecting us, I’m sure it won’t be a problem."

Yu Changsheng chuckled, his demeanor carefree. He was inwardly filled with anticipation, his eyes shining brightly.

’If I can obtain this Fog Beast’s Origin, how many Essence Points will that be...?’

Yu Changsheng muttered to himself. The thought made his heart burn with excitement.

In the past few days inside the Secret Realm, he had accumulated a terrifying amount of Essence Points. However, most of the Fog Beasts had been cleared out. The only one left that could bring him a massive amount of Essence Points was this Half-step Golden Core Fog Beast.

Seeing that Yu Changsheng had no objections, the other two turned their gazes to Li Minghan.

Li Minghan waved his hand, shrugged, and grinned, a hint of wild abandon in his eyes. "A Half-step Golden Core, eh? Since neither of you is afraid, then I’ve got to see what it’s all about, too."

"Alright. Stay sharp and stick close to me."

Zhang Tianwen beamed. Seeing this, Yu Changsheng no longer hesitated. With a thought, the map in his mind flared with light. In the next instant, the world spun, and space itself shifted.

When the three of them opened their eyes again, they were greeted by the sight of a vast, deep lake. The water was clear, but it reflected the crimson sky, making it appear dark red—or perhaps the water itself was that color.

The lake was immense, stretching to the horizon. The surrounding white mist was thinner here, hanging over the water’s surface like a shroud of clouds. The lake itself was utterly silent, with no sign of any living creature.

A faint aura of Death Qi also permeated the area. The dim light and oppressive atmosphere weighed heavily on the three of them.

"Is this... the core area?"

Li Minghan discreetly swallowed and silently shuffled closer to Zhang Tianwen.

Yu Changsheng closed his eyes slightly, releasing his Divine Sense without reservation. He felt everything in the surroundings, every rustle of wind and blade of grass rendered in perfect detail.

"It’s coming."

A moment later, Yu Changsheng’s expression shifted. His eyes snapped open, and he stared at the surface of the lake not far to his left.

BOOM!

At the very moment Yu Changsheng looked over, the lake’s surface in that spot suddenly exploded. A monstrous wave, dozens of meters high, surged upward with the force of a tidal wave, its momentum world-shaking. A long, drawn-out roar echoed, piercing the heavens.

WOOOOOO!!

The sound was like a mournful wail, yet it transformed into a boundless thunderclap, a deafening blast that exploded in their ears.

The roar became a boundless sound wave that swept across the water, kicking up countless more waves that surged toward the trio. Their ears rang, and even their blood and qi roiled in response to the cry.

The great beast had two horns on its head that seemed to pierce the sky. Its massive body was twenty meters tall and bull-like, but covered in glistening red scales that shone with an indestructible-looking luster. It stood upon eight powerful legs, treading the waves as if it could soar beyond the clouds. Its bulging muscles left no doubt as to the immense power they contained.

Its three tails whipped out in different directions. It had the head of a tiger, with a faint horizontal and vertical mark on its forehead. Whiskers flew as it let out a continuous roar, its staggering pressure ravaging the empty space around it. Its blood-red eyes, filled with savagery, were fixed on Yu Changsheng and the others, watching them like prey.

"So it’s a Blood-Scaled Three-Tailed Kui Ox. This Fog Beast is certainly interesting."

After a moment of stunned silence, Zhang Tianwen suppressed his roiling blood and qi and let out a soft breath. He gazed at the Blood-Scaled Three-Tailed Kui Ox, his eyes blazing with fighting spirit and fervor. With a light chuckle and a wave of his hand, the Divine Might Spirit Tiger and the Thunder-controlling Spirit Tiger appeared beside him. They let out a unified roar at the Kui Ox.

ROAR!!

A vast draconic might erupted from them, pressing down on the Blood-Scaled Three-Tailed Kui Ox as the beasts faced off.

The Blood-Scaled Three-Tailed Kui Ox was clearly enraged by this provocation. It stomped its powerful legs on the surface of the blood-red lake, sending dark undercurrents rippling outward. A colossal wave, hundreds of feet high, immediately took shape and came rumbling toward the three cultivators.

"Don’t just stand there! Give it everything you’ve got!"

Zhang Tianwen didn’t dare be careless. His eyes narrowed as he watched the massive wave sweep toward them. This was no ordinary wave; empowered by the Blood-Scaled Three-Tailed Kui Ox, its power could not be underestimated.

"Geng Metal Sky Slayer Sword!"

The Divine Might Spirit Tiger roared. A dense white light flared, and in an instant, it spat a razor-sharp, Heaven-reaching Giant Sword from its cavernous mouth. The blade pulsed with a golden-red light and emanated a thick Evil Qi that roiled the very air. In a flash, it pierced through the oncoming wave!

HSSSSSS!!

The massive wave collapsed. The sword continued on, speeding across the lake’s surface as fast as lightning. In the blink of an eye, it reached the Blood-Scaled Three-Tailed Kui Ox and plunged viciously into its abdomen!

WOOOOOO!!

The Blood-Scaled Three-Tailed Kui Ox roared in fury. One of its tails whipped through the air, creating a deafening Sound Burst. The Geng Metal Sky Slayer Sword instantly shattered into motes of light. Immediately after, one massive wave after another rose up, surging toward the trio with a deafening roar.

RUMBLE!

In an instant, the water surged to the heavens. The very air trembled as the boundless, world-ending deluge advanced, as if the sky were falling and the earth were caving in.
