Chapter 703: Chapter 703: Don’t You Like Me Anymore?

Because of Ivy Tanner’s unique physical condition, the moment she stepped out of the examination room, the doctor immediately called the Rhodes Family to report the results of her prenatal check-up.

The doctor likely assumed Ivy Tanner was a simpleton who wouldn’t understand what a prenatal check-up was, so she wasn’t concerned about whether Ivy, waiting outside the room, could overhear her conversation.

Ivy Tanner distinctly heard the doctor address not Lucas Rhodes, but "Old Madam," at the beginning of the call.

’So, someone in the Rhodes Family is still keeping an eye on me, huh?’

’It seems the Rhodes family estate isn’t such a safe place after all.’

’After all, what parents would ever accept an intellectually disabled woman as their daughter-in-law? What if they decide to do something to me...’

At this thought, Ivy Tanner grew more guarded, but she let none of it show on her face as she prepared to head home.

As she was passing a stairwell door, her arm was suddenly grabbed. In the blink of an eye, she was dragged inside.

The door slammed shut, blocking the attendants who were following her. They panicked for a moment, but quickly recovered and rushed off to find another entrance to the stairwell.

But by the time they reached that same stairwell door, Ivy Tanner was already gone.

Ivy Tanner had been taken by Ethan Kingsley to a car in the hospital’s underground parking garage.

The moment she was in the car, Ivy Tanner put on a look of utter delight. "Brother Kingsley! Brother Kingsley!"

Ethan Kingsley stared at the girl’s innocent, lovely face, a wrenching pain twisting in his heart. For some reason, his voice grew hoarse. "Little Cutie, tell me."

"Hm? I don’t understand?" Ivy Tanner played dumb with practiced ease.

Seeing her reaction, Ethan Kingsley’s heart sank with disappointment.

’That bastard!’

’Damn it, I want to kill that man!’

Ivy Tanner, playing the part of a simpleton, was easily distracted. She turned and pressed her face against the window, her eyes fixed on the world outside.

"Brother Kingsley, I want to go home. I miss my husband."

There was a time when "Brother Kingsley" was the only name on her lips, a time when she depended on him for everything.

But now, her heart belonged to another man, one she had known for less than six months.

Ethan Kingsley was keenly aware that he minded. He was even filled with regret.

He regretted giving her away, resented that she was with someone else. Even just hearing another man’s name from her lips was enough to make him lose his mind.

The feeling was completely foreign, and it repulsed him. Every cell in his body seemed to be screaming in protest. He felt an impulse to tear down the heavens and shatter the earth, to destroy this world that left him so agitated and restless.

Especially when he looked at her face... he even wanted to kill her...

Ethan Kingsley sucked in a sharp breath, forcing himself to calm down. He asked in a raspy voice, "You’ve fallen for him?"

Ivy Tanner nodded, not forgetting to add a bit of praise. "My husband is the best."

To Ethan Kingsley, her words sounded unbelievably ironic.

But then he looked into her eyes, which were still just as bright, captivating, and ignorant as ever.

He couldn’t bring himself to give up. He asked again, "Who do you think is better? Him or me?"

’Was there any point in asking a simpleton such a question?’

Ivy Tanner could have given a thousand false answers, but she chose the one closest to her true feelings. "My husband is nice. Brother Kingsley... is mean. Not nice."

Ethan Kingsley’s eyebrow shot up. "When have I ever been mean to you?"

Ivy Tanner shrank back, as if to say he was being mean to her right at that very moment.

Ethan Kingsley was left speechless for a moment. He softened his tone. "You don’t like me anymore?"

Ivy Tanner hesitated for a moment before nodding. "I don’t like you anymore!"

In that instant, Ethan Kingsley thought he could hear the sound of his own heart shattering. The world seemed to crumble around him, and his mind descended into chaos.

And after the cataclysm, all that remained was a dead silence, a vast, windless ocean.
