Chapter 702: Chapter 702: Young Master Kingsley, Why Bother?

To ensure his wife could have a peaceful pregnancy, Lucas Rhodes hosted guests for just one day before closing their doors to all visitors.

Ivy Tanner’s state of mind was much more stable now. She spent her days in the back garden, planting flowers and pulling weeds, living a carefree and leisurely life.

「The day after Fifth Lord Rhodes announced his wife’s pregnancy, at the Kingsley Group.」

It was the end of the workday, and many people were waiting for the elevators to go downstairs.

Although Ethan Kingsley had his own private elevator, it was currently on the top floor and would take a moment to arrive.

While waiting for the elevator, a few female employees from other companies on the same floor began to gossip openly.

"I never thought someone like Lucas Rhodes would actually sleep with an idiot. The world is full of surprises."

"I don’t think it’s that weird. Third Miss Tanner was a normal girl before she lost her wits. As long as there are no issues in that department, it’s easy for a woman to get pregnant."

"So what do you think? A child from a guy with a crippled leg and a woman with a low IQ—will it be an idiot too, or disabled?"

"That’s a vicious thing to say. Fifth Lord Rhodes’s leg injury and Third Miss Tanner’s mental condition are both acquired, not genetic. Their child should be fine."

"*@#$%..."

Ethan Kingsley was so engrossed in their conversation that he didn’t even notice his elevator had arrived. His mind was reeling from what the women had said.

’Little Cutie is pregnant...’

’That bastard Rhodes... he actually dared to lay a hand on Little Cutie!’

A strange rage burned fiercely in his heart. Ethan Kingsley clenched his fists, his mind almost shutting down.

Suddenly, a thought struck him—

Ethan Kingsley abruptly remembered something. ’Could it be...’

’Damn it, I should have thought of it sooner!’

Ethan Kingsley immediately looked up at the elevator.

The elevator attendant was still waiting inside. She had called out "Young Master Kingsley" several times, and when he finally looked over, she immediately smiled. "Young Master Kingsley, the elevator is here. Please, step inside."

Ethan Kingsley stepped into the elevator. As soon as Seth Payne was inside, he spoke. "Find out when Little Cutie’s next prenatal checkup is. I’m going to see her myself."

Seth Payne hesitated for a moment. Once the elevator doors closed, he said, "Young Master Kingsley, I’m afraid that might be inappropriate."

Ethan Kingsley’s eyes narrowed. "Cut the crap. I told you to look into it, so do it!"

"Yes, sir!" Seth Payne nodded and quickly made a call to give the necessary instructions.

A few minutes later, his subordinate sent back the information.

Seth Payne immediately reported, "Young Master Kingsley, the hospital where Third Miss Tanner is having her checkups is a private one owned by the Rhodes Family. It’s difficult to inquire about such personal matters. However, I spoke with a doctor. Generally, checkups in the early stages of pregnancy are once a month. If Third Miss Tanner is on schedule, she should be going for her next appointment around the 5th of next month."

"Have someone watch the place in secret."

"Yes, sir!"

Seth Payne acknowledged the order, feeling a sense of resignation.

’Young Master Kingsley, why must you go to such lengths?’

Ivy Tanner was taking her pregnancy very seriously, so she arrived at the hospital right on time for her checkup. However, Lucas Rhodes had a last-minute business trip and couldn’t accompany her. He sent a few trusted subordinates with her instead.

Before he left, Lucas Rhodes gave his men strict orders not to let anyone get near his wife.

A prenatal checkup was no small matter. Ivy Tanner did her best to appear naive but not simple-minded, which led the doctor to treat her like a child during the consultation.

After about half an hour, the checkup was successfully completed. All results were normal. She was also told that her next checkup would require a blood draw for Down syndrome screening, which is used to determine if the fetus has any intellectual disabilities or physical deformities.
