I Married the President
Chapter 699: Income from an Unknown Source
Chapter 699: Chapter 699: Income from an Unknown Source
But the next morning, a strange woman showed up at the house. Well, not entirely a stranger—it was Helen Wallace, The Great Demon King Quincy’s personal bodyguard, the same position Claire’s sister had held before she died.
Helen Wallace leaned lazily against the wall, arms crossed, and said with a grin, "Sister-in-law, my brother assigned me to you. I’ll be your 24/7 protection from now on."
Claire Sinclair: "..."
Faye Dean couldn’t help but ask, "Claire, who is she?"
Claire Sinclair whispered, "Mr. Quincy’s personal bodyguard. Or, you could say, his gofer."
"Oh, I see," Faye Dean said, nodding in understanding.
Helen Wallace glanced from Faye Dean’s face to her small baby bump and frowned. "You’re pregnant too?"
Faye Dean nodded.
Helen Wallace looked horrified. "Don’t tell me it’s my brother’s kid, too!"
Faye Dean: "..."
Claire Sinclair: "..."
’I can’t even with her wild imagination.’
Claire Sinclair decided to ignore her and turned to her best friend. "Faye, what should we have for lunch?"
"Spicy chicken, braised pork belly, dry-pot beef?"
"We can’t. We have to avoid spicy food during pregnancy."
"Then let’s eat something milder..."
Having been ignored, Helen Wallace couldn’t resist interrupting them. "Sister-in-law, what’s her story?" she asked, jutting her chin toward Faye Dean.
Claire Sinclair finally looked at Helen Wallace. "You can thank that wonderful teammate of yours for this."
"Huh?" Helen Wallace looked completely baffled.
Claire Sinclair suddenly asked, "By the way, who’s older, you or Frank Morgan?"
"Frank Morgan, of course. He’s several years my senior."
"Oh. In that case, you’ll have to start calling Faye ’sister-in-law’ as well."
Helen Wallace was dumbfounded. "Are you saying the baby... is Frank Morgan’s???"
Claire Sinclair and Faye Dean both just smiled knowingly.
Helen Wallace’s expression soured instantly. She slammed her fist against the wall. "Damn it! I bet everyone that a clueless guy like Frank Morgan would be single for life, and now he’s already having a kid..."
Claire Sinclair: "..."
Faye Dean: "..."
Helen Wallace’s expression suddenly shifted again. She grinned and said, "Alright then. You two are my responsibility now. Let me know if you need anything at all."
Claire Sinclair asked, "Can you cook?"
"I can, but I’m not very good at it."
"I’ll just cook myself, then. Could you go get the groceries for me?" Claire Sinclair asked.
Helen Wallace shook her head. "I have to keep you in my line of sight at all times. We’ll have someone else do the shopping. What do you need? I’ll call it in."
Claire Sinclair thought that sounded like a hassle, but after what had happened at the supermarket the day before, she didn’t dare go out carelessly again.
From now on, she would try to stay home unless it was absolutely necessary to go out.
With that thought, Claire Sinclair relaxed. "Alright. Just get some eggplant, tomatoes, tofu, a fish head, and some leafy greens."
"Okay, just a minute." Helen Wallace picked up her radio and relayed Claire’s request to one of her subordinates.

She thought she’d be safe by staying home, but on the third day, trouble came knocking.
Two men in suits came to the house. They dismissed Faye Dean, leaving only Helen Wallace in the living room with Claire. Facing her, one of the men said, "Miss Sinclair, we’ve detected a deposit from an unknown source in your account. We need you to cooperate with our investigation."
’A deposit from an unknown source?’
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "What deposit? I don’t know anything about it."
The man in the suit said, "Your account received a deposit of 100 million at 11:00 PM sharp last night. Coincidentally, an hour before that, we discovered that Bank A was short 100 million in funds."
