I Married the President
Chapter 663: That Was Pretty Fast
Chapter 663: Chapter 663: That Was Pretty Fast
Theo Rhodes, blending in with the crowd, heard the host’s announcement and let out an unconscious sigh of relief. But his heart was soon back in his throat.
’The angel they’re talking about has to be Master!’
’Only 10 million?’
’Pfft, Master is priceless!’
Theo Rhodes cursed inwardly. Suddenly, an idea struck him, and a slight smile touched his lips.
’I’ve got it!’
Theo Rhodes turned and walked back into the casino, finding the floor manager. "Manager Carson, I want to join the auction, but I don’t have enough chips. I need to call my assistant and have him wire me some money."
Manager Carson was a woman, but she wore a mask, so it was impossible to see her face. Her voice, however, was quite pleasant. "Certainly. Please follow me."
Manager Carson led Theo Rhodes into a private room where several burly men were waiting. The moment Theo walked in, their eyes turned vicious.
Manager Carson gestured for him to sit. "Please, sir, have a seat."
Theo Rhodes sat down on the sofa with a flourish, crossing his legs. He exuded the air of the nouveau riche, his tone arrogant. "My number is 405. Hurry up and get me my phone. I need to make a call."
"Of course, sir. Please wait a moment." Manager Carson shot a look at one of her men, who then left the room.
From the moment guests entered Hell’s Paradise, they had to surrender all personal communication devices and watches for temporary safekeeping, to be returned only upon their departure.
If not for such strict rules, the place would never have endured for ten years.
After a long wait, the man finally returned with a phone.
Theo Rhodes took the phone and immediately called his uncle, Lucas Rhodes. "Fifth Uncle, transfer 100 million to my account, now. I’ve got my eye on a batch of treasures that could topple nations. The starting bid is 10 million. Get a move on!"
Lucas Rhodes’s brow furrowed. "Topple nations?" he repeated gravely.
"If they couldn’t topple nations, why the hell would I be buying them? Hurry up and stop dragging your feet. When I get my hands on this lot, I’ll bring ’em back for you and ’Q’ to have some fun with. Once you’re bored, we’ll pass ’em down to the boys. If we’re living it up, we’ve gotta make sure our brothers get a piece of the action too."
"I get it. The money will be wired to you immediately. Anything else?"
Theo paused, then looked up at Manager Carson and asked with a chuckle, "Manager Carson, what do you think my chances are of winning these treasures with 100 million? If I don’t stand a chance, I’ll just scare up another hundred million."
Manager Carson replied politely, "One hundred million might be cutting it a little close. In past years, the premium items auctioned at Hell’s Paradise have gone for a minimum of 300 million."
Hearing this, Theo immediately barked into the phone, "Did you hear Manager Carson? 100 million isn’t enough. Make it 500 million! Dammit, worst case, we’ll just give up that land in the West District. I have to get my hands on this lot!"
"Fine," Lucas said, and the line went dead.
Lucas Rhodes played back the recording of the call. Suddenly, it all clicked. He turned to Ayla Ryan and said, "Call Quincy Manor at once. I have news about Claire Sinclair."
Ayla Ryan nodded, immediately pulled up the number for Quincy Manor, and relayed the information.
Not long after, Lucas Rhodes’s phone rang with a call from an unknown number.
A small smile played on Lucas Rhodes’s lips. "That was fast."
With that, he answered the call. "Young Master Quincy, I just got a call from my nephew. He has news about Claire Sinclair. Shall I send you the recording?"
"Send it to my email."
"Of course," Lucas Rhodes replied politely before hanging up.
A few minutes later, Adrian Quincy received the audio file.
He played the recording once and immediately extracted the key pieces of information—
Claire was about to be auctioned off like an object.
