I Married the President
Chapter 645: I Can’t Take Your Things Anymore
Chapter 645: Chapter 645: I Can’t Take Your Things Anymore
Ethan Kingsley hadn’t returned to The Golden Brocade Palace since that day.
Fortunately, his men were quite decent, granting her almost every request, no matter how bizarre.
And while life was easy, she wasn’t the least bit happy.
’So many days have passed. Why can’t I get through to Claire Sinclair’s phone?’
-
「Hell’s Paradise.」
It was the fifth day of Claire Sinclair’s confinement, and she hadn’t taken a single step out of the room. Fortunately, meals were delivered to her, and someone came by each day to collect her dirty laundry and bring her fresh clothes.
Orion Osborne was not a man of his word. After leaving the room that day, he vanished for a full four days before returning.
To her relief, he had brought back her watch, but not her phone.
Orion Osborne handed the watch back to her with an apologetic look. "Sorry, they stripped out the internal components, and your phone was destroyed. This was all I could get back."
Her face fell as she looked at the empty shell of her watch. She was on the verge of tears. "How could they do this to my watch? That’s going too far!"
Orion found her devastated expression rather cute and chuckled. "When we get out of here, I can make a new one for you. How about it?"
"No, I can’t take anything else from you!" Claire rejected him flatly.
Orion just smiled, unbothered. "That’s fine. Do you want to go for a walk? You must be going stir-crazy after all this time."
Claire nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes! I’m completely stir-crazy. Please, take me out for a walk!"
Orion gave a slight nod, but instead of leading her out immediately, he pulled a small box from his pocket.
He opened the box to reveal a pair of rings with a cherry blossom pattern.
Claire raised an eyebrow. "What are these?"
Orion took her hand and slid one of the rings onto her finger, explaining, "If you don’t want the people who captured you to recognize you, put on the ring."
’Oh, so it’s to hide my identity.’ Claire cooperated eagerly and asked, "This ring is quite pretty. Are you wearing one too?"
Orion nodded. Once her ring was on, he put on the other cherry blossom ring himself.
Claire twirled her finger and was surprised to find the ring fit her ring finger perfectly; she couldn’t shake it off.
Orion made an inviting gesture. "Let’s go."
Claire looked at his arm, hesitated for a moment, and ultimately didn’t touch him. "I’m married. I can’t take your arm."
Orion paused for a moment, then smiled. "Alright. We’ll walk like this, then."
Claire took a deep breath and walked out with him.
They took the same familiar path through a loud dance hall, but instead of heading toward the casino, they turned in a different direction and entered a high-end restaurant.
The two of them chose a table by the window and sat down. A waiter immediately came over with menus.
Orion handed the menu to Claire. "See what you’d like to eat."
Without so much as a glance at the menu, Claire said dismissively, "Anything that isn’t spicy is fine. You order."
As she spoke, she let her gaze wander curiously around their surroundings.
Everyone else was wearing a half-mask. Except for a few people with unusually large faces or bodies that were severely out of shape, anyone with a pointed chin looked basically the same. It was impossible to recognize anyone.
Even if Teacher Hartwell and Theo Rhodes were mixed in among these people, she’d have a hard time recognizing them unless she could get close enough to hear their voices.
’What am I going to do?’
Claire felt a surge of frustration.
After placing their order, Orion asked her, "What are you looking at?"
"The people here don’t seem to have a single worry," Claire said casually.
