I Married the President
Chapter 571: More Than One Mistress
Chapter 571: Chapter 571: More Than One Mistress
Theo Rhodes hung up, a smug smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
Claire Sinclair eyed the young man’s handsome face and raised an eyebrow. "Not bad acting."
Theo Rhodes chuckled smugly. "Heh heh... When you’re out in the world, you’ve gotta have a few tricks up your sleeve." He paused, his smile fading slightly as his tone turned serious. "Master, what do we do now?"
"Call him back in ten minutes."
"Okay."
Claire Sinclair said nothing more and brought up the second chat log.
This screenshot was a chat log between Cyrus Marshall and his wife.
Iris York: Our child is sick, and you still haven’t come home. Our son says he wants to see you, or else he won’t take his medicine.
Cyrus Marshall: Honey, our pharmacy is in its startup phase right now. I really can’t get away. I’m doing this to buy our son a big villa, so please just bear with me for a little while, okay?
Iris York: You say that every time. From the day our son was born until now, tell me, how many times have you even seen him? Do you have any idea how sad he gets every time someone asks when his dad is coming home?
Cyrus Marshall: Honey, I’m sorry. How about this? I just got a performance bonus of thirty thousand. I’ll give it all to you to look after, okay?
...
After reading the chat logs, Theo Rhodes couldn’t help but curse. "He’s willing to buy his mistress a villa and a luxury car, but he only gives his wife thirty thousand, and on the pathetic excuse that it’s a ’performance bonus’. He’s a total scumbag, no doubt about it."
"I’m afraid he has more than one mistress," Claire Sinclair said, bringing up a third chat log.
This log was a conversation between Cyrus Marshall’s alternate account and another one of his mistresses.
Judging from the chat log, this second mistress knew about Cyrus Marshall’s relationships with his wife and Joan Jacobs, but she made it clear she wouldn’t expose them because all she wanted was money.
This second mistress also kept to herself, only contacting Cyrus Marshall when she was short on cash. It was clear their relationship was purely transactional.
After finishing this chat log, Theo Rhodes couldn’t help but curse again. "Scumbag. Absolute trash!"
Claire Sinclair, on the other hand, didn’t seem to think much of it. She even felt like laughing a little. "It takes two to tango. Cyrus Marshall is a huge scumbag, sure, but those two mistresses aren’t much better. I just feel sorry for his wife and child."
Theo Rhodes asked indignantly, "Master, can’t we do something about this?"
"What do you want to do?" Claire Sinclair asked in return.
"Tell Cyrus Marshall’s wife that he’s cheating on her, of course!"
Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "It’s someone else’s marriage. Do you really think an outsider like you has any right to interfere?"
Theo Rhodes suddenly grew agitated and retorted, "Why not? Some women these days are just too willing to swallow their grievances. They keep saying it’s for the good of their children, but they completely ignore what kind of future they need for themselves.
Master, just think about it. Imagine you’re Cyrus Marshall’s son. When you were little, your mom gave you everything, and your life was happy. But after you grow up, you realize that your mom never smiles, never travels, and no matter how you try to convince her otherwise, she just lives trapped in her own world, completely miserable.
At that point, Master, would you still think the happiness bought with a lifetime of your mother’s suffering is true happiness?"
His words were a question that pierced right to the soul.
Claire Sinclair was silent for a moment before she spoke. "That also depends on a person’s personality. Some people are raised to be passive and introverted. They get used to being wronged, and it’s very hard to get them to suddenly rebel. It’s like a domesticated dog—how can you turn it back into a savage wolf?"
