Chapter 569: Chapter 569: The Waters Are Deeper Than I Imagined
Claire Sinclair: Mr. Quincy, I’d like to ask you for a favor.
Adrian Quincy: Mm.
Claire Sinclair: I need the full name of the legal representative for Xenogen Biopharmaceuticals. I couldn’t find it online.
Adrian Quincy: Okay.
A moment later, Adrian Quincy sent a name over: Joan Jacobs.
’It’s a woman?’
Claire Sinclair asked again: Are you going to send me her full profile, or should I dig it up myself?
After a moment, Adrian Quincy sent her a complete profile.

Age: 25

After reviewing the file, Claire Sinclair felt there wasn’t much usable information, but the phone number was enough.
Using the phone number, Claire Sinclair dug up all of Joan Jacobs’s real-name verified social media accounts, including her messaging app, e-commerce profile, microblog, and more.
Joan Jacobs’s social media feed was filled almost entirely with posts showing off her wealth—designer bags, sports cars, luxury goods, and so on.
Her e-commerce account’s purchase history showed almost no personal items. Instead, it was all cheap raw materials, but in massive quantities—for example, a recent delivery of 500,000 custom cardboard boxes for a total of 100,000 dollars.
Her microblog was more interesting. She didn’t have many followers—only about a thousand, 999 of which were bots, with fewer than 20 active followers. All her posts were about her relationship, but the interesting part was that she never showed her boyfriend’s face. She only posted photos of them cooking or playing games in a mansion, or kissing in a luxury car—another way of flaunting her wealth.
So, the question was: given Joan Jacobs’s age, education, and work experience, not to mention her parents being rural laborers, where did she get the money to open a pharmaceutical company and buy mansions, luxury cars, and designer bags?
After reviewing the information they’d found online, Theo Rhodes raised the same question as Claire. "Master, this Joan Jacobs couldn’t possibly have the means to open a pharmaceutical company. I’m guessing she’s just a front. The real boss has to be someone else."
Claire Sinclair pointed to one of the relationship photos Joan Jacobs had posted on her microblog. It only showed a pair of hands, fingers intertwined, with a matching pair of couple’s watches on their wrists.
"Do you recognize this watch?"
Theo Rhodes nodded. "I do. It’s the YI brand. They start at a million dollars, so not everyone can afford one. Plus, you can only get them at their official boutiques. This particular couple’s model is a new release from last month."
A smile touched Claire Sinclair’s lips. "You’re right. The YI brand also happens to be a partner of the Astoria Daily, and there’s only one of their boutiques in all of Aridia."
As she spoke, her fingers began tapping on the keyboard.
Before long, she had pulled up surveillance footage from the YI boutique, dated two weeks prior. It showed a couple, revealing the faces of Joan Jacobs and her boyfriend.
Theo Rhodes exclaimed in surprise, "Isn’t that Cyrus Marshall? I had no idea he was that rich!"
Claire Sinclair didn’t respond. Her fingers flew across the keyboard, and she quickly pulled up Cyrus Marshall’s personal information.
Theo Rhodes gasped again. "Cyrus Marshall is married, and his wife isn’t Joan Jacobs!"
It was obvious that Joan Jacobs was the other woman—to put it bluntly, she was his mistress.
A faint chill settled in Claire Sinclair’s eyes. "Looks like this runs deeper than I imagined," she said in a low voice.
"Master, what’s our next move? The factory Cyrus Marshall showed us was clean, and he provided all the legal paperwork. Are we really supposed to go through with the partnership?"
