I Married the President
Chapter 566: A Proactive Visit
Chapter 566: Chapter 566: A Proactive Visit
Chase Wade’s slick face beamed. "Director Marshall is quite a talented man, Reporter Sinclair. He has a story he’d like to share with you. If it’s inconvenient for you to get in touch, he can contact you instead. What do you think?"
Claire Sinclair put the business card away and said politely, "I’ll have my assistant contact him later. Thank you, President Wade."
"Don’t mention it, Reporter Sinclair. Enjoy the rest of your evening. I’ll go give Director Marshall an answer right away." With that, Chase Wade walked away excitedly.
Looking in the direction he was headed, she saw it was a private room on the same floor.
’Interesting...’
’For Miracle Health Clinic to take the initiative to contact me, they must really have something.’
After the function, Claire Sinclair returned to her hotel.
Before entering her room, she suddenly remembered something and turned to ask Landon Winston, "Winston, how is Theo?"
Landon Winston said, "I bought him some sobering-up medication. He should be okay by now."
Claire Sinclair nodded. "Once he’s sober, bring him to me. I have a new plan."
"Yes."
Claire Sinclair closed the door and dragged her exhausted body to the bed. She flopped down spread-eagled, staring lazily at the ceiling.
Before she knew it, drowsiness washed over her, and she sank into a groggy sleep...
Faintly, Claire Sinclair heard the doorbell. She sat up, still groggy, and walked to the door. She reflexively peeked through the peephole, and seeing it was Theo Rhodes, she opened it.
Theo Rhodes stood with his head hanging low, looking guilty. "Master, I can’t believe I got drunk. I’m so sorry!"
Claire Sinclair’s drowsiness faded a bit. She pulled the door open wider. "Come in. Don’t close the door."
’No need to give anyone a reason to gossip.’
Theo Rhodes followed her inside. Landon Winston and several bodyguards stood outside the door and glanced in, their faces betraying no emotion.
In this respect, Claire Sinclair handled things well; she knew how to avoid suspicion.
Once inside, Claire Sinclair pulled up a chair and sat down, then pointed to the chair opposite her. "Sit."
Theo Rhodes sat down and asked quizzically, "Master, Walsh said you have a new plan. What is it?"
Claire Sinclair handed him a business card. "Chase Wade passed this to me. Director Marshall from the Miracle Health Clinic wants to get in touch. Call this number and find out what it’s about."
"We haven’t even gone after them, and they’re already coming to us. Hmph..." Theo snorted. "I’d like to see what they’re trying to pull."
With that, he pulled out his phone, dialed the number on the card, and the call connected quickly.
Theo Rhodes put the call on speaker and said into the phone, "Hello, Director Marshall. This is Theo Rhodes, a reporter from the Astoria Daily."
A polite voice immediately came from the other end of the line. "I know who you are. You’re Reporter Sinclair’s assistant! Hello, hello!"
Theo Rhodes didn’t want to waste time, so he got straight to the point. "Director Marshall, did you need something from my mentor? If it’s important, I can pass a message to her. If not, perhaps I can help you myself."
Director Marshall gave an awkward laugh and launched into his spiel. "Well, it’s like this. You’ve heard of our Miracle Health Clinic, I’m sure. For three hundred years, our clinic has specialized in intractable diseases. We’ve cured countless people of terminal illnesses with our secret ancestral remedies.
"And now, in the spirit of our mission to save lives, the Miracle Health Clinic is preparing to expand. However, our name isn’t quite out there enough yet, so we were hoping to collaborate with the Astoria Daily. That’s why I wanted to speak with Reporter Sinclair about this."
’A scam like this wants to expand and harm even more people?’
If he weren’t on an assignment, Theo Rhodes probably would have cursed the man out. Instead, he forced himself to say politely, "I understand. I’ll run this by my mentor and see what she says."
