"Yes, sir," Yerman replied.

Seeing him just standing there, Qin Shiwei frowned, his icy voice laced with displeasure. "Do I need to tell you how to proceed with the investigation?"

"I’ll get on it right away!" Yerman said, taking one last deep look into the cabin before he was sent away.

Shu Yao peeked her head out, looking around furtively.

"Coast is clear." She breathed a sigh of relief. Good heavens, her heart had been in her throat! "I have to go back now. My son and my uncle are still waiting."

"Mmm," Qin Shiwei grunted, his voice sullen.

Noticing his mood, Shu Yao offered him a kiss. "There will be plenty of chances to make it up to you later, so don’t be upset."

The man’s gaze darkened. Cupping the back of her head, he leaned down and kissed her deeply.
