I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl
Chapter 592 - 588 – RETURN TO FALLING STAR CITY AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST SPATIAL ANCHOR
The evening sky above the Southern Star Province radiated a captivating golden-orange hue when a streak of golden light shot across the clouds at high speed. Sol, having completed its duties as both mineral prospector and mountain-demolition tool, flew back toward Falling Star City carrying an inner satisfaction that the pure-mithril hunting task had been finished in a short time.
A top the broad and sturdy back of the golden dragon, Sylvia sat leisurely while gazing at the expanse of the southern Tianhua mainland stretching beneath her. The evening breeze blew gently, playing with strand after strand of her beautiful black hair. Beside her, Noir in the form of a pitch-black cat, appeared to be sleeping soundly in a curled position, completely unconcerned with Sol’s flying speed that could break the records of any magical jet in the kingdom.
"Sol, descend a bit far outside the city walls as usual," Sylvia commanded softly, patting the golden dragon’s neck. "We don’t want to startle the fortress guards or force Zhaoyue to calm panicked citizens."
Sol snorted lightly, signaling its agreement. Upon approaching the outermost hilly area several kilometers north of Falling Star City, the Golden Dragon dove down gracefully. Its feet landed without making the slightest sound on the open ground hidden behind dense trees.
In a fading flash of sacred light, the fifty-meter-long dragon body rapidly shrank back into a tiny, smooth golden-furred cat. Sol stretched all four of its legs, lazily twisted on the grass, then regarded Sylvia with its round golden eyes as if demanding the promised quiet rest.
"Excellent work," Sylvia smiled, crouching and stroking Sol’s head for a moment before lifting it into her arms. Noir leapt lightly onto Sylvia’s left shoulder, and with casual steps the Queen of Death walked back into the area of Falling Star City.
The atmosphere inside Falling Star City now appeared vastly different compared to when Sylvia had first set foot in this border city. The efficiency of the First Princess Hua Zhaoyue’s leadership truly deserved praise.
Along the main city streets, there were no longer any dilapidated, squalid shacks or foul-smelling dirty water puddles. The transportation routes had been paved with flat, sturdy black asphalt material. Construction workers, accompanied by several mid-rank earth-element mages, could be seen working deftly to complete neat and uniform public housing. The faces of the local citizens that had once been shrouded in fear and suffering from the legacy of the corrupt mayor’s regime now radiated hope and happiness.
When Sylvia walked toward the governor’s residence, the soldiers and gate guards immediately bowed in respect with extraordinary deference. They all knew full well that the beautiful black-haired girl carrying the golden cat was the unintimidated figure standing behind Princess Zhaoyue’s power.
Arriving at the governor’s residence, Sylvia walked toward the isolated rear pavilion. Yet before reaching the pavilion door, a familiar soft voice greeted her from the direction of the corridor.
"Sylvia! You’re already back?"
Hua Zhaoyue stepped quickly out of the governor’s office while carrying a roll of construction maps. Her pretty face looked a little tired from a full day of handling bureaucracy, yet her eyes immediately sparkled with joy upon seeing Sylvia.
"Yes, I just finished my affairs outside," Sylvia answered casually with a thin smile. "How is the city’s restoration progressing?"
"Incredibly smooth!" Zhaoyue said with full enthusiasm. "The funds seized from the residences of those corrupt officials are truly extremely abundant. Construction of the new fortress walls has already reached forty percent, and the public housing in the eastern district is nearly complete. The people are very grateful. Oh right, how about your material search? Did your little cat manage to find something?"
Zhaoyue glanced toward Sol, who was in Sylvia’s arms. Sol only rolled its eyes lazily and turned away as if ignoring the princess’s "little cat" remark.
Sylvia chuckled softly. "Of course. Sol’s nose never disappoints. We successfully obtained pure mithril in more than sufficient quantity. Now I must continue my magic work inside the pavilion."
"All right! If you need help or want to have dinner together, just let me know," Zhaoyue replied warmly before returning to her office to continue her royal duties.
Entering the rear pavilion, Sylvia immediately closed the door tightly and reactivated the absolute sound-isolation formations and magical shields that coated the entire room.
She placed Sol and Noir on the soft sofa, then touched the Hologram Bracelet on her wrist. Within seconds, a blue light projection appeared in the air, displaying an intercontinental video-call connection. The figure of Stacia immediately appeared on the projector screen wearing laboratory glasses and with her golden hair slightly messy.
"Sylvia! You returned so quickly!" Stacia exclaimed through the projector screen. "How were the results? Don’t tell me you only got a few kilograms of raw ore samples?"
Sylvia smiled with full victory. Without uttering a single word, she flicked her finger and integrated a portion of her System Inventory access into the bracelet’s scanning projector.
Instantly, the quantity and purity-level data of the materials just absorbed by the System Inventory were displayed on Stacia’s laboratory screen in Nocture.
Detected Material Data:
- Highest-Quality Pure Mithril: 2,450 Tons
- Pure Earth-Element Crystals: 800 Tons
- Sheet Star-Metal Ore: 120 Tons
Stacia’s eyes widened so much that her laboratory glasses nearly slipped off her nose. "Two... two thousand four hundred tons of pure mithril?! Good heavens, Sylvia! Did you level an entire mountain range or what?!"
’It was my dragon’s breath that leveled it, you know!’ Sol complained inwardly through the telepathic channel, yet Stacia could not hear it.
Sylvia laughed softly. "Sol did excellent work. Now our conductor material stock is no longer a problem. We can immediately begin forging and shaping the Main Spatial Anchor Pillar for the Intercontinental Teleportation Gate."
"Incredible! This is truly beyond my expectations!" Stacia adjusted the position of her glasses with a wide smile full of the enthusiasm of a genius scientist. "With a pure mithril supply this large, I can design a triple-layered energy conduction formation. The energy fluctuations from the Astral Star Furnace Reactor at the Nocture headquarters can be channeled constantly across a distance of 500,000 kilometers without experiencing even the slightest charge loss!"
"Good," Sylvia said with an expression that shifted to become more serious and focused. "Then, what is the first step I must take on this mainland side?"
Stacia shifted several holographic interface windows in her laboratory, sending a three-dimensional technical blueprint to Sylvia’s bracelet. A hexagonal-shaped anchor tower structure floated in the air of the pavilion.
"The first step is to create the Central Matrix Foundation," Stacia explained. "You must extract approximately fifty tons of pure mithril from your storage, then melt it into the form of a Spatial Altar Foundation beneath the floor of your pavilion. In the center of that altar, plant the Main Anchor Crystal that you already brought from Nocture. After that, I will trigger the transmitter signal from the Astral Star Furnace Reactor here to perform the first resonance-lock."
"Understood," Sylvia answered firmly.
Without wasting time, Sylvia stepped to the center of the pavilion room. With a wave of her right hand, her Authority of Death and Demigod-level magic mastery worked with precision. The stone floor of the pavilion split smoothly without producing any noisy sound, forming a square crater ten meters across in depth.
Next, from within the System Inventory, Sylvia extracted dozens of tons of pure mithril boulders with a gleaming purple hue. Using a combination of high-level fire magic and molecular manipulation, those extremely hard pure mithril boulders melted instantly into a pure, blazing purple-golden liquid metal.
The pure mithril liquid flowed to fill the foundation crater, forming an extremely smooth and glittering Hexagonal Altar structure. Sylvia arranged thousands of micro spatial-magic formula engravings on the surface of the metal that was beginning to solidify.
When the mithril foundation solidified perfectly, Sylvia took out a transparent diamond crystal one meter in size from her inventory, the Main Spatial Anchor Crystal manufactured in Nocture, then planted it precisely at the center of the altar.
HUMMMMMM!
In that same instant, the moment the Anchor Crystal touched the pure mithril foundation, every magic line on the altar lit up brightly with a captivating blue-golden color. A wave of pure spatial pressure radiated gently from within the altar, refracting the air around the pavilion room.
"Stacia, the Spatial Altar Foundation on the Tianhua side has been completed and infused with magic," Sylvia called through her hologram bracelet.
"Receiving local frequency signal!" Stacia’s voice sounded extremely excited. "Activating the Astral Star Furnace Reactor trigger frequency of Nocture in three... two... one... Fire!"
At a place more than 500,000 kilometers away at the opposite end of the continent, the Astral Star Furnace Reactor of Nocture roared softly. A pillar of cosmic energy shot through the dimensional layers, seeking the anchor point that had just been established by Sylvia.
FLASH!
Inside the pavilion, the Main Anchor Crystal suddenly radiated a soaring light pillar that was contained by Sylvia’s isolation shields. An invisible long-distance spatial connection was officially formed between the two continents. The spatial coordinates between Nocture and Falling Star City were now perfectly locked within the dimensional matrix network.
Sylvia gazed at the glittering blue light pillar above the Mithril Altar with a deep smile of satisfaction. The first step of the greatest project, the construction of the Intercontinental Teleportation Gate, had finally been successfully completed without obstacles. With the success of this coordinate lock, the dream of directly connecting Nocture’s power to the mainland of the Tianhua Kingdom now lay right before their eyes.
