I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 150: Zerev Wants a Seat at the Table
Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Zerev Wants a Seat at the Table
Fei Luo looked at Ophelia, his face full of pleasant surprise as well.
Ophelia looked down at the clay pottery placed around Fei Luo’s feet. Most of them were water bottles, basins, and the like, primarily designed to be lightweight and convenient. However, the males in the Beast World possessed great strength. With just a little bit of force, they could easily crush such thin and fragile items. Because of this, pottery wasn’t very popular in the Beast World.
"By the way, Princess Ophelia, I forgot to thank you.
"If you hadn’t bought those two hundred water vats last time, my partners and I probably wouldn’t have survived this year’s rainy season."
Older males like them, who had lost their ability to hunt, could only make small trinkets. It was hard enough for them to get a full meal on normal days, let alone during such a long rainy season this year. If the little female before him hadn’t purchased their water vats, he and his companions would have likely starved to death during the relentless rain.
"It’s nothing. You made what I needed, so you deserve that compensation," Ophelia said.
Hearing this, Fei Luo recalled the rainy season, his eyes turning slightly red. "No, I must thank you. If it weren’t for you, I would have lost my life long ago."
Not having the heart to see him so emotional, Ophelia quickly changed the subject and looked at the clay pottery on the ground. "Fei Luo, I’d like some small bottles. Can you make them?"
"Yes, yes, I can. As long as you can describe it, I can make it. I just don’t know what kind you want?"
Ophelia crouched down, picked up a branch, and drew a rough sketch in the dirt. "Like this."
"I can make that, no problem," Fei Luo nodded confidently.
"That’s wonderful! Can you make twenty of them within three days? They don’t need to be too big—about the size of my palm will do." Ophelia held out her hand to gesture the size.
Fei Luo looked at Ophelia’s hand, then down at the pattern on the ground. After a moment of thought, he replied, "I can."
"Great. Then bring them to me in the morning three days from now. How about I give you a whole prey as payment for thirty small bottles?"
Hearing that Ophelia intended to pay him, he hurriedly waved his hands. "No need, I don’t want any payment. You’ve helped me so much before; just consider this my gift of gratitude."
Seeing Fei Luo’s insistence, Ophelia didn’t argue further. After agreeing on the delivery time, she and Zerev took the three little ones home.
Upon returning home, Ophelia took out the medicinal herbs needed for the antiseptic medicine and the White Life-saving Pills. Since she planned to produce them in large batches, she certainly couldn’t handle such a huge workload alone.
"Zerev, come help me," she called out.
"Okay," he agreed.
Thus, the three little dragon cubs were left to their own devices while Ophelia and Zerev began grinding herbs and making the White Life-saving Pills.
After working for an entire afternoon, they had only produced five doses of antiseptic medicine and five White Life-saving Pills.
"This efficiency is just too low." Ophelia massaged her aching wrists, her pretty brows knitting together in a frown.
Not only did she have to make the antiseptic medicine and White Life-saving Pills, but she also had to prepare fever-reducing medicine and cold medicine. The fever-reducing medicine and cold medicine weren’t powders; they were traditional herbal medicine packets mixed in specific proportions. This was even more time-consuming. Besides strictly following the recipe’s ratios, the herbs had to be chopped into small pieces so they could be easily bundled and stored.
Seeing her reddened wrists, Zerev felt a pang of heartache and gently took her hands to massage them. "I’ll have Moye send a few males from Ten Thousand Beasts City over to help."
Ophelia thought about it for a moment and agreed. "All right."
Anyway, no one in the Beast World understood traditional herbal medicine, so she wasn’t worried about the recipes leaking. And even if they did leak, she wouldn’t mind. As long as it could improve the medical standards of the Beast World, she was willing to share the recipes and herbs.
Although the people of the Beast World didn’t know much about traditional medicine, she was certain that a Primitive Forest like this was filled with medicinal herbs. It was just that no one knew how to identify them. She wanted to vigorously develop herbal medicine in the future, and the best way to do that was to cultivate it herself. That way, no one would suspect why she could always produce so many herbs.
However, all the vacant land in the Fuzu Tribe had already been used for planting crops. There was simply no extra space left to grow anything else, which made things a bit difficult.
"Ophelia, what are you thinking about?" Zerev asked softly, noticing her distracted state.
"I want to start cultivating medicinal herbs, but the Fuzu Tribe doesn’t have any spare land left."
Hearing this, Zerev chuckled. "Isn’t that simple? Just buy another piece of territory from Moye.
"If you don’t have enough Crystal Stones, I’ll give them to you."
Zerev’s words made Ophelia see the light. Right, why hadn’t she thought of that? But soon, a new dilemma arose. "Even so, we don’t have the extra manpower to do the planting."
Right now, just managing the crops and livestock had drained all her energy. If she added cultivating medicinal herbs to the list, she wouldn’t be able to handle it all.
"You could ask the tribesmen to help you," Zerev suggested.
"Them? I’d better pass."
The newly accepted males in the Fuzu Tribe were mostly young. Making them patiently cultivate medicinal herbs—something that relied heavily on the weather for a successful harvest—would definitely displease them. In their eyes, taking the time to grow herbs was far less simple and efficient than just going out and hunting down prey.
"Then you can ask the elderly males from nearby tribes to do the planting. Didn’t you also have them help when you were building the house?"
Ophelia’s eyes lit up. "You’re right! How did I not think of that? Is it true that pregnancy really does give you baby brain?"
Zerev ruffled her hair affectionately. "Don’t worry. Even if you can’t remember, you still have me."
Hearing his reassuring words, Ophelia’s cheeks flushed slightly.
Tyler had a gentle and quiet temperament; he was an obedient executor. Zerev, on the other hand, was a clever decision-maker who could always offer effective suggestions for her plans.
"How about... we let Tyler sleep with the dragon cubs tonight?"
As soon as Ophelia said this, she felt a burning gaze land heavily upon her. She sneakily raised her eyes and saw Zerev staring straight at her. His silver-gray eyes carried an intense, possessive hunger. She knew Zerev completely understood the underlying meaning of her words.
Zerev’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he reined in his intense gaze. His voice was husky. "Okay."
Having made such a decision, Ophelia couldn’t help but feel a little guilty toward Tyler. Because of this, she didn’t even dare to look at him during dinner.
Noticing her unusual behavior, Tyler grew concerned. "Princess, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Faced with his question, Ophelia’s face burned red, and she didn’t dare to reply.
Seeing her flustered state, Zerev, who was sitting beside her, curled his lips slightly. His voice carried an unconcealable delight. "You’ll sleep with the three little ones tonight. Ophelia and I will share a room."
Ophelia hadn’t expected Zerev to blurt it out so directly. Embarrassed, she immediately set down her bowl and scurried off toward the bedroom.
Watching her retreating figure, Zerev let out a low, deep chuckle.
Tyler snapped out of his daze. Seeing that Ophelia hadn’t refused, he knew that the Princess had agreed to this arrangement. A look of desolation washed over his face, and his voice was so soft it was almost inaudible. "All right, I understand."
