Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Little Dragon Cub Transforms Early

Hearing Laxus say this, Lam became somewhat displeased. He raised an eyebrow. "What exactly have I done to make you dislike me so much?

"Just say it, so I can fix it."

Seeing Lam’s unbridled attitude, Laxus clenched his jaw. "Lam, don’t be too arrogant, or else..."

Lam didn’t care about the threat in Laxus’s words at all. "Or else what? Come on, spit it out."

Laxus clenched his fists tightly, but in the end, he didn’t throw a punch. He merely gave Ali a serious look, his voice tinged with exhaustion. "If you really want to partner with him, we can talk about it when Klein arrives.

"Lam is right. Klein is your brother; I have no right to make decisions for you."

With that said, Laxus left, looking utterly dejected.

Seeing him give up on persuading her, Ali felt a sting in her nose.

"What’s wrong? Little one, you’re not going to cry, are you?" Lam looked at Ali’s reddening eyes, somewhat at a loss. "Please don’t cry. I have no idea how to comfort a little female. How about I go call Laxus back for you?"

As he spoke, he turned to leave, but Ali grabbed his arm, stopping him.

He shot her a questioning look.

Ali shook her head. "Forget it. I don’t like forcing things. Since he really doesn’t have feelings for me, there’s no point in me fixating on him."

Although Ali said this, her heart ached as if it were being pricked by needles.

Lam grew anxious when he saw her actually cry. Despite his eloquence in business, he was completely clueless about how to cheer up a female right now.

Ali waved a hand at him. "I’m fine. Let’s just drop this matter. Thank you for acting along with me these past few days."

Before Lam could say another word, she returned to the stone house in low spirits.

After all, this was someone else’s relationship, so it wasn’t appropriate for Lam to say much. He could only sigh inwardly that Laxus was completely dense.

By noon, Ali arrived at Ophelia’s house with red, swollen eyes.

Seeing her tearful state, Ophelia felt a deep ache in her heart. "What happened? Did Laxus upset you again?"

Hearing Ophelia’s concern, the emotions Ali had been trying so hard to suppress surged up once more. She sniffled, her voice choked with sobs. "Ophelia, Laxus really doesn’t like me. He agreed to let me partner with Lam."

"Really? How could that be?" Ophelia was in disbelief.

Ali nodded. "It’s true. He said that once my brother arrives, I can partner up with Lam. Ophelia, we guessed wrong. He really just sees me as a younger sister."

"But he got so angry he nearly fought Lam. How could he not like you? Don’t worry just yet. I’ll go talk to him and ask."

Ali grabbed her hand and shook her head stubbornly. "There’s no need, Ophelia."

At this moment, Ali was completely deflated. Seeing her like this, Ophelia couldn’t bring herself to persuade her any further. She decided to find an opportunity in private to ask Laxus about his thoughts.

However, before she had the chance, an unexpected incident occurred with the little dragon cubs.

That night, it was Zerev’s turn to stay over in Ophelia’s room. Because Ophelia had slept a lot during the day, she wasn’t sleepy yet, so she played catch with the little dragon cubs on the animal skin rug.

The ball in her hand was woven from vines by Tyler, perfect for training the cubs’ catching abilities. Ophelia tossed the vine ball high into the air, and the three dragon cubs eagerly jumped up to catch it. But the next second, all three collided in mid-air. None of them caught the ball; instead, they tumbled onto the ground, sprawled on their backs.

Ophelia looked at them and couldn’t help but laugh. "So silly."

Although it wasn’t nice to say, she still found it quite amusing. After speaking, she secretly peeked at Zerev’s expression. Seeing the amusement in his eyes and realizing he wasn’t angry, her own smile deepened.

The three little dragon cubs were a bit peeved to hear Ophelia say that. The eldest and the youngest pounced into her arms, scratching and biting at her clothes. Her already thin linen dress was soon soaked with their drool.

Ophelia hurriedly shielded her clothes, pretending to be angry. "No more scratching, or if you ruin it, Mommy will spank your little bottoms."

But the eldest and youngest weren’t afraid of her threats at all and continued to burrow into her embrace.

Ophelia shot Zerev a plea for help, but he wasn’t looking at her. Instead, his gaze was fixed seriously on the second cub, the golden little dragon, who had yet to get up from the floor. The second cub’s eyes were tightly shut, and tiny whimpers escaped his mouth.

Ophelia quickly set down the eldest and youngest to pick up the second cub. He was burning hot to the touch. She immediately looked at Zerev. "Zerev, the second cub is sick! He has a fever!"

This sudden turn of events caught Ophelia completely off guard. Ever since the little dragon cubs were born, they had been incredibly robust. They were tough, resilient, not picky eaters, and extremely durable. How could the second cub suddenly get a fever?

Zerev crouched down and pressed a hand against the second cub’s forehead. After a long moment, he finally spoke. "He’s about to shapeshift."

"Shapeshift?" Ophelia asked. "Don’t cubs wait until they’re a month old to shapeshift? Why is he doing it early? Will this negatively affect him?"

Zerev shook his head. "I’m not sure yet. There have been Winged Dragon Clan cubs who shapeshifted early, but I never specifically looked into it before."

"Then what should we do now?" With the second cub’s body temperature so high, Ophelia was worried his brain would fry.

"He can only rely on himself to push through it," Zerev replied.

A cub’s transformation was crucial. If he couldn’t endure it, he wouldn’t be able to take human form, and his lifespan would be significantly shortened.

Ophelia was still anxious. Letting the second cub burn up like this wasn’t a solution. She fetched a basin of water and used a damp cloth to compress his forehead.

After an hour of applying the compress, the cub’s temperature hadn’t dropped, making her even more frantic. "No, I can’t let him keep burning up like this. I’m going to get him some fever-reducing medicine."

Right now, her spatial realm was entirely planted with jute and castor beans. Fortunately, she had fertilizer speed-up packs, so there was still time to replant medicinal herbs.

Just as Ophelia was about to enter her spatial realm, the other two little dragon cubs also started showing anomalies.

Resting on the third floor, Tyler grew worried after hearing the constant sounds of water being changed on the second floor. He came downstairs and, seeing the three little dragon cubs lying in a row on the bed, asked with concern, "Princess, what’s wrong with the cubs?"

"Zerev says they’re shapeshifting early."

"They’re actually shapeshifting?" Tyler was somewhat surprised.

Ophelia touched the foreheads of the eldest and youngest; they were just as blisteringly hot. "No, I can’t let them keep burning up. I’m going to bring them into the spatial realm to soak in the stream."

Since the stream in her spatial realm could strengthen the body, perhaps it could also help reduce a fever.

"Alright, I’ll go with you," Zerev said.

"Princess, I’ll enter the spatial realm with you too," Tyler offered.

Zerev rejected the idea. "Our time in the spatial realm is limited, and the little dragon cubs won’t be able to finish their transformation in a short time. To be safe, we should take turns entering."

Hearing this arrangement, Tyler nodded. "What you say makes sense."

With that, Ophelia hesitated no longer. She brought the little dragon cubs and Zerev straight into the spatial realm.
