I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me

Chapter 132: The Dragon Cub Has a Superpower

Outside the cave, Ali stood beside a small tree, her face flushed red as she plucked leaves from its branches.

“That Laxus is such a total idiot. He’s not smart at all. Whoever becomes his mate in the future is going to be so unlucky!

“But since he’s so dumb, there probably won’t be any females willing to mate with him anyway. His remaining years are going to be quite miserable.”

As she spoke, Ali grew somewhat angry again. She kicked the nearby tree with her uninjured foot.

“Is there something wrong with my head? Why am I worrying about him out here?”

Who knew that although the tree looked small, it was incredibly sturdy. The impact of the kick made her frown in pain.

“AH, it hurts!” Ali squatted down, rubbing the instep of her foot.

“How did you hurt your foot again?” Laxus crouched down beside her. He helped Ali sit on a nearby rock, then dropped to one knee and took off her straw sandal.

Ali blushed shyly. “Don’t, it’s dirty.”

Laxus looked at the fair little foot in front of him, noting her small, perfectly rounded toes, and shook his head. “It’s not dirty.” He then held her foot up to examine it carefully.

A large patch of skin on the top of her right foot had turned red, and the skin around her toe joints was scraped.

Ali bit her lip. Staring down at Laxus’s sharply defined facial features, her heart fluttered. Aside from her father and mother, not even her closest brother, Klein, had ever touched her feet.

“Why do you always insist on hurting your feet? Do you have a grudge against them?”

Hearing Laxus say this, Ali glared at him and stubbornly turned her head away. “What does it have to do with you?”

Laxus let out a helpless sigh and pulled a small green segment of a plant from the animal-hide pouch at his waist. He peeled back the outer skin of the green branch to reveal the clear flesh inside, then squeezed the juice out and applied it to Ali’s scraped toe joints.

“HISS—that hurts! What is this thing?”

“It’s aloe grass for pain relief and disinfection. I saw it on the road earlier and picked some.”

Ali looked at Laxus’s lowered head and asked tentatively, “Did you pick it specifically for me?”

Laxus cradled her fair, delicate foot, blowing on it gently to help the aloe juice absorb faster. He chuckled. “Who else in the group is so clumsy that they’re always injuring their feet?”

Hearing him mock her, Ali angrily pouted her lips again.

“Hmph! And to think I was actually worried about you, yet you still mock me like this.”

“What were you worrying about me for?” Laxus sat down beside Ali and raised an eyebrow.

Ali’s lips parted, but in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to tell the truth. “Hmph, I’m not telling you.”

Inside the cave, Moye looked at the dragon cubs resting in Tyler’s and Zerev’s arms, feeling a bit bewildered.

“Young Master, why do these dragon cubs look like they weren’t just born?”

Hearing him say this, Ophelia’s heart skipped a beat.

Zerev, however, didn’t bat an eye. He cast a sideways glance at him and said coldly, “Since when did you ever see a newborn dragon cub?”

Moye thought about it carefully and realized Zerev was right. Still, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off—that newborn dragon cubs shouldn’t look quite like this.

Seeing that Moye was still harboring doubts, Ophelia shot Zerev a meaningful look.

Left with no other choice, Zerev could only fabricate another plausible excuse. “The constitution of dragon cubs is different from other infants, so they are born much more robust.”

Seeing that his Young Master was actually taking the time to explain things patiently, Moye let go of his suspicions. Regardless, as long as it was his Young Master’s bloodline, that was all that mattered.

After resting in the cave for two days, Ophelia and the others resumed their journey home.

The dragon cubs were chubby and incredibly endearing. Along the way, they were constantly being carried, whether in Laxus’s arms, or nestled against Tyler and Zerev.

Ali was also incredibly fond of the three dragon cubs, and the cubs adored their innocent auntie just as much. The four of them had an absolute blast playing together.

At noon that day, Laxus and Tyler scouted the surrounding area but couldn’t find a water source anywhere. Thus, they had no choice but to set up camp and rest in a relatively flat clearing.

Tyler took a few people to collect mountain spring water, while Moye led a few males into the forest to hunt. Laxus and Zerev stayed behind to protect the two females.

Watching Laxus start the fire, Ali was filled with curiosity and clamored to try it herself. So, Laxus struck the flint, then taught Ali how to use a branch to prop open a gap in the dry weeds and blow into it to ignite the kindling.

However, since it was Ali’s first time starting a fire, she lacked experience and couldn’t control her breath properly. With one massive exhale, she caused the entire pile to combust instantly. The flames flared up violently and caught her hair on fire.

“AH! My hair is on fire!

“Help! Help! Laxus, save me!”

Ali scurried around in a panic. Laxus tried to approach her, but she kept dodging out of his reach.

Seeing this, Ophelia hurriedly shouted, “Ali, stop running so we can help you put it out!”

Hearing this, Ali finally stopped. She pursed her lips, her eyes welling with tears. Ophelia and Laxus were just about to step forward to extinguish the flames when a thin stream of water shot directly at Ali’s head.

Although it left Ali looking like a drowned rat, it completely doused the fire in her hair.

Ophelia was thoroughly astonished, wondering where the water had come from. Tyler and Zerev also looked toward where the water had originated.

To their absolute shock, it was the white firstborn cub spitting the water. Ophelia was beyond stunned.

“How is this possible?”

“A dragon cub can actually spit water! I’m not seeing things, am I?” Laxus’s jaw dropped in disbelief.

Everyone’s gaze simultaneously landed on Zerev.

Zerev’s expression turned grave.

Moye, who had just returned from hunting with the males, happened to witness this exact scene.

“Young Master, the Little Master can spit water! Could this mean…” Moye was trembling with excitement.

Zerev nodded, his expression solemn. “That’s right. It’s an ancestral awakening.”

“Ancestral awakening?” Ophelia asked in confusion.

“In the earliest eras, both the Winged Dragon Clan and the Phoenix Clan possessed an Elemental Superpower. That was how they were able to establish the Holy Capital and lead the Dragon Clan and Phoenix Clan out of being primitive, low-level tribes.

“However, as time passed, fewer and fewer members of the Phoenix Clan and Winged Dragon Clan were born with a superpower. By a century ago, both clans had completely lost all members possessing a superpower.”

“A superpower?”

Ophelia thought it sounded a bit like the apocalyptic superpower web novels she used to read. This was simply too miraculous!

“Young Master, the Little Master possessing a superpower is a wonderful thing!

“If the Family Head knew that the Little Master had a superpower, he would definitely accept the Little Masters. He might even agree to let you and Ophelia become mates!

“Should we send this news back to the Holy Capital right now and inform the Family Head?” Moye asked, feeling this was the perfect opportunity.

“Ophelia, what do you think?” Zerev didn’t make the decision on his own.

Ophelia pondered in deep thought for a long while before finally refusing.

“You yourself said it’s only a ‘might’. There’s still a risk of danger.

“I don’t want to gamble my cubs’ lives on a mere possibility.”

Even if the Yilong Family Master gave the oldest cub special treatment because of his superpower, what about the second and third cubs? They didn’t have superpowers. Would they just be abandoned by the Yilong Family Master?

Ophelia didn’t dare to imagine it, nor did she want to take that gamble.

If it truly came to a point of absolute desperation where they had to tell the Yilong Family Master, she hoped to hide it for as long as possible. Ideally, this secret wouldn’t be exposed until the dragon cubs had the ability to protect themselves.

Zerev could guess what Ophelia was thinking, so he voiced his agreement.

“Don’t worry. As long as you don’t want it to, nothing that happened today will be leaked.”
