I Can Level Up Infinitely
Chapter 322: I Am Coming
Steven slowly guided everyone to a reception desk. A young, charming woman was sitting behind the desk. "Steven, you are here already? So? Did your candidates pass?" Jason, Emily, and the others were still at the back, walking forward. So the girl didn’t notice them.
Steven only slid two disks toward her. "Their mana and battle record. Issue the licenses."
The girl nodded and inserted those two disks into a disk reader. Data started popping up on the monitor in front of her. The woman was just about to start her job when she noticed something. Her jaw tightened. The others stopped before the desk as well. The girl looked up. She stared at Leon and Snow before looking at the monitor. Then again. And again...
"A-Class? D... D-disaster Class? What the fuck, Steven?" She blurted out, her eyes widening.
"Just get the processing done," Steven said. He had barely any energy left to entertain her shock.
But just as she was about to say something, footsteps echoed behind them.
Jason turned to see who it was. Emily and the others also turned. Everyone except Leon. He looked at the girl at the receptionist desk. "Can you make it a bit faster?" He asked.
The girl was startled and was about to speak when...
"Stop." An authoritative voice echoed behind Leon. The person who had just spoken strode toward Leon.
"Mr. President." The receptionist girl stood up instantly when she saw who it was.
The person who had come wasn’t anyone else but the president of the Daselvia Hunter Association, Hank Froster, one of the five Disaster Class hunters in the world. Behind him, Dylan and a few other hunters also arrived.
"Long time no see, Jason." Hank looked at Jason and said.
Jason nodded but didn’t say anything. But Hank didn’t mind it. Instead, he looked at Leon. "Young man. What’s your name?"
"Leon Bale."
"Leon Bale. Are you from Daselvia?"
"No. I am from Delvan."
"Delvan? That pathetic excuse for a country? And you want me to believe you are this strong even after being from Delvan? I know what you did in the testing chamber. So why don’t you tell me honestly who sent you?"
"What do you mean?" Leon’s eyes narrowed. He could feel it. Killing intent. It was subtle. But it was there. Leon couldn’t understand why a person who had just met him for the first time would harbor killing intent against him.
"Still want to pretend?" Hank glared at Leon and strode toward him angrily. Stopping before Leon, Hank threw a punch. "You bastard. You dare sneak in here as a spy?"
His punch whistled through the air. Even when it was meters away, a strong gust of wind struck Leon.
Hank chuckled, only to freeze at the very next moment. His fist! It had stopped in midair. Leon was grabbing Hank’s wrist with ease. Leon leaned in toward Hank. "Don’t force me. Or else, let alone Disaster Class, you won’t even remain a hunter." After those words, Leon put more pressure on his grip.
Crack!
Hank’s eyes widened before rolling back in pain. He felt his bones being bulldozed under a machine. He tried to yank his hand away, but it wouldn’t even budge.
"Do you even know who I am, boy? One word. And you will be banned from ever being a hunter. You will be hunted like a criminal."
"And do you know who I am?" Leon whispered. "One more word from you... And I will ban you from this very earth. Do you want to give it a try?" Leon’s words weren’t loud. But they sent a chill down Hank’s spine.
Dylan was trembling with anger. He wanted to storm ahead and skin Leon alive. But he had seen what Leon was capable of. Both of them weren’t even in the same league. Even his father, Hank Froster, was struggling at the moment.
Jason stepped forward. "Did you have to make it this ugly, Hank? You are the president of the Hunter Association. Yet you were charging a person without any basis or proof. What? Dylan asked you to do so? You know how that looks, don’t you? I can file a complaint against you. Even though you are a Disaster Class hunter, the higher-ups will take action against you. Don’t forget that."
Hank wanted to speak but didn’t dare. Leon’s eyes were like an abyss where the grim reaper of death lived. He had come here to dominate him. He already knew Leon was a Disaster Class knight. Jason was already a thorn in his path. There were only five Disaster Class hunters in the world. Yet two of them had to be from the same country. And now there was another one. How could he let Leon go just like that?
And then there was Dylan. He knew his son liked Emily. And Hank wanted them to be settled together too. That way, Jason wouldn’t be his opponent anymore. But Emily had never shown any interest in him. But now, here she was, showing feelings for a person he couldn’t let go. Even in pain, Hank glared at Leon. "You are an outsider from a foreign country. You are attacking the president of the Daselvia Hunter Association, standing at the Association’s headquarters. No one will be able to save you. Go ahead and kill me if you dare."
At those words, Leon’s gaze hardened. He stared at Hank and tightened his grip even further.
"Agghhhhhh." Hank howled in pain and dropped to one knee.
"Hank." Jason started. "You must have heard what happened to Sylus Moure, right?"
Suddenly, a dread gripped Hank’s heart. Even under the excruciating pain, he looked at Jason. "W-why?" He somehow uttered that word.
"Why, huh? You should have paid your informers properly. Even if it wasn’t a face, they should have given you a name. But whatever. We have already passed that situation, so let me give you a chance to still amend your behavior. The person who killed Sylus Moure..." He paused, letting his words settle. "Do you know what his name is?"
Hank’s heart skipped a bit. ’No, no, no. Don’t tell me it is what I think it is.’ He screamed in his mind.
"Leon Bale. The very same Leon Bale you just threatened. So let me ask you a question. Do you think the person who didn’t bother about Sylus Moure would be afraid to kill you?" His words weren’t loud, but they landed like a thunderbolt in Hank’s heart. "No. It can’t be. You are lying to me." He whispered.
Looking at Hank’s pathetic condition, Leon let go of his hand. Hank collapsed on the ground, not even daring to look up. Dylan was also shaking in a corner.
After all, who was Sylus Moure? He was the strongest Disaster Class hunter in the world. Other than a few cultivators, nobody else was his match.
For a few seconds, silence filled the entire reception area. Nobody spoke. The hunters behind Dylan looked frozen, their gazes shifting between Hank and Leon.
The receptionist girl finally snapped out of her daze. "Y-your license..." she muttered. She hurriedly turned toward the monitor and completed the remaining procedures. Her fingers moved quickly over the keyboard, though they were trembling. A few minutes later, a small slot beside the monitor opened.
Click!
A metal card slid out. The girl picked it up and hurried toward Leon. "Mr. Bale... your hunter license."
Her hand trembled as she stretched the card toward him. Part of it was fear. She had just watched Leon force Hank Froster, the president of the Daselvia Hunter Association, down to one knee without even looking serious.
But the other part...
It was pure admiration.
Her eyes couldn’t help but linger on Leon’s face. ’He isn’t even twenty yet...’ she thought. ’And he is already in Disaster Class... What kind of monster is he?’
Leon calmly accepted the card. His eyes immediately fell on it. Unlike ordinary hunter licenses, there was nothing flashy about it. The card was made of pitch-black metal, its surface smooth and cold. It wasn’t heavier than a normal card either. There wasn’t even a rank written on it.
B-Class, A-Class, S-Class...
Nothing.
Instead, at the center of the card, a lion’s face had been carved into the black metal.
Leon brushed his finger against the card. ’Slick.’ He thought.
Steven finally spoke from the side. "Disaster Class licenses are special."
Leon looked at him. Steven continued, "Ranks are written for other hunters. But once someone reaches Disaster Class, a symbol replaces the rank."
Leon looked at the lion again. Snow leaned closer. "Looks fitting."
Sol instantly nodded. "Of course it does. Big bro is basically a monster among monsters."
Emily looked at Leon but didn’t say anything.
Leon ignored them and slipped the card into his pocket. "Done?" he asked.
The receptionist girl nodded quickly.
"Then let’s leave." Without even sparing Hank another glance, Leon turned and walked toward the exit.
"Dungeons. I am coming." He whispered while leaving.
