I Can Level Up Infinitely
Chapter 320: Phoenix Breath
A colossal monster rose from the ocean as water rippled wildly. Its body was covered in midnight-blue scales, each one gleaming like wet steel. Hundreds of jagged bone spikes covered its skull and extended to its tail. It was as if it were wearing a coat of golden spikes. Its enormous jaws parted slowly, revealing rows of dagger-like teeth. Its thick tail whipped at the ocean, churning the water, while its massive limbs crawled forward. From a distance, it looked less like a living creature and more like a moving mountain.
Steven froze. "No... That’s... That’s a peak S-Class monster. It will only appear when..."
"When the tester is a Disaster Class hunter." Jason finished for him, his eyes glued to the screen. ’So he really killed Sylus Moure. What a freak!’ Jason mused inwardly. ’He is not even over twenty yet has already reached this level. What will happen in the future? What kind of existence will he become? Will the world be ready to accept someone like him? Or will fear drive them mad? Though we are Disaster Class hunters, all of us are kept under observation. Even all our family members are kept under observation so that we will never try to do something wrong. But him? If he’s allowed to grow stronger, nothing will be able to keep him on a leash. I hope his strength doesn’t become a curse for him.’ Jason thought to himself.
"He... He’s a Disaster Class hunter?" Steven finally spoke again, his voice shaky with disbelief and bewilderment. "At that age? Where did you find him, Mr. Flemming?"
"I didn’t. They did." Jason pointed toward Emily and Sol.
But before Steven could digest what had just happened, something even more shocking happened.
The giant crocodile wasn’t the only one. Two more beasts emerged from beneath the waves of the ocean.
The first one was even more monstrous than the giant crocodile. Its gigantic body was wrapped in layers of dark blue scales. The shifting of muscle was clearly visible even from a distance. A massive spear-shaped horn jutted from the center of its skull. Rows of jagged teeth were arranged dangerously in its maw. But its most horrifying feature was not its mouth. It was its arms. Two enormous limbs stretched from its shoulders, each ending in a hand large enough to wrap around a cargo truck. Long black claws gleamed dangerously. As the creature crawled through the water, its claws scraped across the ocean floor while its enormous body displaced the sea around it.
Leon had no idea what species of monster this was.
Then came the third one. A gigantic serpent. Its body stretched so far that Leon couldn’t even see the end of its tail. The monster was wrapped in layers of blue-gray scales as hard as armor. Massive fins spread from its sides, pushing aside torrents of water with every movement.
This time, even Jason looked shocked. ’Three peak S-Class monsters? Impossible. Even Sylus had to face just two. And he barely made it out alive. But this boy has to fight three? What kind of monster is he?’ Jason wondered.
This time, Steven didn’t say anything. Because he couldn’t. He felt like everything had ceased to exist around him. Even he himself couldn’t move. He could only watch. Watch Leon still standing on the island. Looking totally unbothered even amidst the chaos.
Sol, Emily, and Snow were also watching carefully now. They knew Leon was strong. But they didn’t know how much. And finally, the time had arrived. They could see him in real action now.
Because beasts at the same level were far stronger. So a peak S-Class monster meant it was already on par with a Disaster Class hunter. So Leon was about to face three Disaster Class beings at once now.
On the island, Leon looked at the three beasts storming toward him. "I wish these monsters were real. Their monster cores could’ve been of great use. What a shame!" Leon sighed. The black claymore vanished from his hand. "But I can at least try the Phoenix breath. Let’s see what it can do." Saying that, Leon soared in the sky, the corners of his clothes billowing. He steered his head back. "Phoenix breath." The moment he said that, fire erupted from his body.
Snow’s eyes narrowed. Even Jason couldn’t help but suck in a deep breath.
And then...
Leon thrust his head forward. A gigantic fireball shot out from his mouth and struck the giant crocodile at lightning speed. The gigantic crocodile was blasted away, smoke curling up from its body. The other two monsters were forced to disperse on both sides.
The crocodile’s body cut through the air and slammed onto the ocean surface, splashing water. The splash wasn’t normal. It felt like a tidal wave, erupting angrily.
A gust of wind exploded outward. The force made the trees on the island bend.
Jason stood frozen in his spot. He was a fire mage too. But the prowess Leon’s last spell just showcased was not something he had ever witnessed. Even as a Disaster Class hunter, he couldn’t help but admire Leon’s strength at the moment. "The tenth spell," Jason whispered. "He actually managed to learn the tenth spell."
Snow’s mouth was also hanging open. She too was a fire mage. But before Leon’s last spell, every spell she had comprehended felt like cheap tricks.
Leon, meanwhile, looked pissed. The other monsters were silent in shock for a moment before lunging at Leon. But Leon looked unfocused. The serpent whipped its tail at Leon. Leon dodged it with ease. Slamming one palm against the tail, he threw himself toward the serpent’s head like a bullet.
Bam!
A double leg kick slammed into the serpent’s head, sending it flying.
The other monster threw a punch. Leon dodged it again. He was fighting at his full potential. But for some reason, his mind was a mess.
"That wasn’t Phoenix breath. That was barely a high-level fireball. But I followed the basics of the spell. Then what went wrong?"
