I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 577: Between Two Celestials
CRAAAAAASH!
A massive wave of pressure spread across the sky above Verendal.
The city’s golden dome bent inward under the impact of the two powers, and for a moment, hundreds of defensive towers lit up at the same time.
Thick streams of mana reached from the towers to the dome and slowly pushed its sunken surface back to its original shape.
Lian looked at the sky with a frown.
Several kilometers away, two beings moved among the shattered clouds, and every time they clashed, a large part of the sky changed shape, while the pressure from their attacks could even be felt through the city’s defensive network.
Seris stood beside him, her usual cold gaze fixed on the sky, but the way her fingers were wrapped around her sword’s hilt showed that she was following the situation closely.
Fortunately, they had evidence that could change the course of the entire situation.
"I think it’s time to show them this."
She looked at him.
"Are you going up there?"
He raised his head.
At that moment, one of Kairos’s attacks passed by Rhaenar and struck the bent space at a distant point.
Part of the energy spread out at that spot, and the remaining shockwave made the surface of the dome shake again.
Lian gave a faint smile.
"I don’t think they’re coming down on their own."
Seris looked at the black wings behind him for a moment.
"Be careful."
He gave her a brief glance, as hearing those words from Seris was rather unusual.
"Okay."
The girl nodded, then turned her gaze back to the sky.
The young Vorhelm took a slow breath, and the two huge black wings behind him spread open.
With the first movement of his wings, his body rose from the ground. A small cloud of dust rose from the stone pavement beneath his feet, and he quickly flew toward the sky at a controlled speed.
Using these wings still felt strange.
It was as if two new limbs had been added to his body, limbs he could control in terms of angle, pressure, and movement without even needing to think about it.
The higher he flew, the more pressure he felt from the battle between the two Celestials.
He raised his head slightly.
In the distance, Rhaenar disappeared from one point in the sky with a single step and appeared several hundred meters away. Kairos’s attack passed through the empty space, but before it could move toward Verendal, Rhaenar once again bent the distance between the two points.
The attack changed direction and was released into an empty part of the sky.
Those two beings were truly fighting on another level.
Lian had no intention of interfering in their battle, and he did not even imagine that he could withstand one of their direct attacks.
He only needed to get close enough for them to hear him.
When he reached the upper part of the defensive dome, he slowed down.
Right at that moment....BOOOOM!
A wave of pressure was released not far away.
He was not even in the attack’s direct path, but the remaining force was so strong that his right wing was pushed backward, throwing off his balance for a moment.
The armor plates on his injured shoulder struck each other with a dry sound.
Sharp pain spread through his arm, and he gritted his teeth. By folding one wing, he turned his body sideways.
The wave passed by him.
But before he could correct his position, another wave of pressure moved toward him.
Damn it.
Even the leftover force from their clashes was dangerous to him.
He prepared to use [Ashen Thunder Step] to change his path.
But before he could activate the skill, the space around him changed.
For a moment, the pressure moved away from him, not because it had disappeared, but because the distance between Lian and the attacking wave had expanded in an unnatural way.
He raised his head. In the distance, Rhaenar was looking at him. The Patriarch had apparently noticed his presence.
A moment later, the space in front of the young Vorhelm bent, and a narrow path formed between him and the two Celestials.
Without hesitation, he moved his wings and passed through the path.
When he appeared in the open sky again, he was no longer far from Rhaenar and Kairos.
"Lian?"
Rhaenar raised his eyebrows slightly when he saw him, and his gaze remained on the black wings behind the young man for a moment.
"It seems your trip down there wasn’t without its rewards."
Lian looked at his wings for a moment.
"It’s a long story."
Rhaenar gave a very small smile.
"I’m sure it is."
Then his expression returned to normal.
"But what are you doing here?"
Before answering, he turned his gaze toward Kairos.
The man was floating in the air at a distance, and the pressure of his presence was still heavy, although much of the released mana had now settled down.
Ads by PubFutureKairos was also examining Lian. His eyes remained on the wings for a moment before returning to his face.
"A Vorhelm?"
"Lian Vorhelm." Lian nodded.
"Why did you come here?"
Lian reached toward his armor.
Rhaenar narrowed his eyes slightly for a moment, but when he saw that Lian was only taking out a small silver seed from beneath his armor plates, he showed no reaction.
The young Vorhelm held up the seed.
"I think I’ve found something both of you need to see."
Kairos glanced at the seed.
"What is that?"
"Evidence that might prove all the accusations were wrong from the beginning."
Silence fell for a few seconds.
Lian continued.
"We found the person behind the two attacks, someone who forged Stormheart’s signature and the Vorhelm Warform."
Kairos’s expression changed.
"And you expect me to believe a child?"
"No."
He raised the seed a little higher.
"I expect you to examine it yourselves."
This time, the man said nothing, his gaze fixed on the seed.
Even from that distance, he could tell that something inside its structure was unusual.
But a single glance was not enough to determine its origin or all of its uses.
Lian continued.
"If I’m wrong, you lose nothing. You only need to spend a few minutes examining the evidence."
He paused.
"But if I’m right, you two are fighting over something neither of you was responsible for."
Rhaenar gave Kairos a brief glance.
"I don’t think a few minutes will kill us."
Kairos was still looking at the Vorhelm before he slowly spoke.
"If this turns out to be another trick, you’ll be held responsible."
Lian gave a slight shrug.
In the end, the pressure around them decreased, and the sky around Verendal became calmer.
The battle between the two Celestials had stopped, not because they had suddenly started trusting each other, but because evidence had appeared that was worth examining.
Returning to the palace was much faster than Lian’s climb.
By bending the distance, Rhaenar transported them directly to one of the central security areas.
Isolde Pendragon also came there after receiving news that the battle had stopped.
When she saw Lian with Rhaenar and Kairos, she gave him a brief glance, but contrary to his expectations, she did not ask how he had managed to enter the battlefield of two Celestials.
Lian placed the Silver Corruption Seed on the examination platform.
