Chapter 564: A Silver Elf

  • Next Chapter

A few seconds of silence ruled over the prison.

Lian did not take his eyes off the creature standing among the huge golden rings.

Long silver hair, long ears, and eyes that reflected the light around them like mirrors; none of them matched the human race.

A Silver Elf, and as far as he knew, based on common knowledge and the knowledge of the Vorhelm Family, this thing was one of the natives of the Heavenly Realm.

But her presence here, in the deepest part of one of the most secret places on Earth, was stranger than her appearance itself.

How had she entered?

As far as he knew, humans needed certain conditions to enter the Heavenly Realm, and traveling between the two worlds was not as simple as passing through a normal gate.

Even Awakened below Level Sixty were not allowed to enter that realm, and it had never been heard of that a creature from that world could enter their world.

However, one of the residents of that same world was now standing in front of him.

Seris pulled out her sword.

The sound of metal spread through the huge space of the prison, and a faint silver light appeared along the edge of the blade.

"Who are you?"

The Elf looked at her sword and then fixed her mirror-like eyes on Lian’s face.

"I did not expect humans to reach this place, at least not this soon."

It was not an answer to the question.

Lian also had no intention of waiting for the creature to decide to behave more politely.

He activated [True Sequence].

The flow of mana around the Elf appeared in his perception, and almost at the same moment, something strange became clear.

The structure in front of him was not a body.

There was no blood flow, no life core, and no natural mana circulation could be seen.

What kept the Elf-shaped body together was a collection of commands made from mana that came from the silver seed between the seal rings.

The thing in front of them was not real, more exactly, the closest thing to it was a clone.

Lian narrowed his eyes slightly.

"So you really are not here."

The female Elf stayed silent for a moment, then the corner of her lips rose.

"Sharp."

She gave a small shrug.

"For someone who managed to make the Six Great Families and the Twelve Guilds fight each other, I expected you to at least come personally to see the result of your work."

But this made one thing clear, this Elf was truly not in their world, but had somehow managed to send a clone.

"Why should I risk my life to do something that can be done from this distance?"

It was not a bad answer.

Especially for a creature that had managed to bypass Verendal’s security network without being physically present.

"How did you come to our world?"

Seris took one step forward.

The Elf looked at her.

"You humans really think that only you can enter other worlds?"

This time, her tone was somewhere between contempt and amusement.

Seris did not ask another question, but Lian could understand that the creature’s answer was intentionally incomplete.

The fact that this Elf was a clone only explained that she was not physically present in the prison and in this world, it was still unclear how the clone had reached Earth and how long she had been inside the Pendragon network.

The answer to that question probably had a lot of value, not just value, it could also prevent more threats from entering their world.

The only problem was that they did not have enough time to find it for now.

The Elf’s eyes stopped on Seris’s Ancestral Dragon Mark.

The mirror-like light in her eyes changed for a moment, and then she looked at the rings at the heart of the prison.

"Are you trying to stop this friend from waking up?"

Lian checked the seed from the corner of his eye, the thing that seemed to be placed at the center of the seal.

Thousands of thin threads came out of it and entered the golden structure of the seal.

Some were only on the surface, but several thicker threads had moved close to the central rings.

The Elf noticed the direction of his gaze.

"We were supposed to have more time, but now that you have arrived, there is no reason to be careful anymore."

As soon as her sentence changed, a sword with destructive power was thrown toward her.

The Elf only gave a smirk, and the sword passed through her without any problem, as if she was nothing more than a ghost, then she turned her eyes toward the person who had made that attack, Seris, and gave a mocking smirk.

But she said nothing and continued with her work.

The sword returned to its owner’s hand, and the Young Pendragon frowned.

"Looks like physical attacks cannot hurt her."

Lian immediately felt the change in the flow of mana, they had an even bigger problem for now.

"Seris, get ready."

The Elf raised her hand.

The seed at the center of the rings began to spin.

Thousands of silver threads lit up at the same time and spread along the chains and seal pillars like veins carrying fresh blood.

The golden light of several rings became weaker for a moment, then one of the main mana paths changed direction.

And then... Boom!

A heavy sound came from deep inside the prison.

The young Vorhelm turned his eyes toward the huge creature imprisoned in the sea of red mist.

One of the chains connected to the neck of the Demon of End trembled.

Not because of the dragon’s movement, but because the energy inside it had greatly decreased.

The Silver Elf had moved the operation forward.

If she had previously needed several hours to weaken the seal, now she intended to do the same thing in a few minutes, caution no longer mattered.

Lian took a short breath, so there was no more time for further investigation.

"Seris, do you see the chain on the left?"

Seris nodded.

"I will remove its corruption caused by those silver threads, you return the chain to the main flow of the seal again."

The girl moved without asking any questions.

He focused his eyes on the silver threads.

The main structure of the seal, even with all its complexity, had a clear logic, the golden commands moved along fixed paths and transferred the stored energy in the pillars to the restraining chains.

But the silver threads recorded part of these commands before they reached their destination, then an almost identical version, with a small change, entered the flow again.

As a result, a chain that was supposed to become stronger lost part of its own energy.

It was not direct destruction, but it was more like changing the commands, this was somewhat similar to what happened to the cells of the body and caused cancer.

It could even be compared to a genetic mutation.

This was the reason the corruption could pass through the defensive layers.

The network still seemed to be following its own commands, only the result of some commands was no longer what their creators wanted.

Lian raised his right hand and the Eclipse Core began to spin.

Some Eclipse Essence was released from his limited supply and moved through his body.

The golden light of the prison was reflected on the metal rings, pillars, and even the shiny surface of the silver threads.

For most creatures, this was only light and brightness.

But for him?

There were hundreds of different paths formed from the light.

The Corrupted Sun responded to his perception.

He chose several paths, paths where the existing light passed over the surface of the corruption without directly touching the main structure of the seal.

The color of the light changed.

Black lines appeared inside the white light and moved along the paths of the reflected network.

The light became corrupted.

But this time Lian did not stop there, and five very thin threads made from Eclipse Essence separated from the paths, and each one reached one of the main centers where that silver corruption was spreading and forming.

Tssss!

The first center turned black and the second cracked, the third lost its organized structure almost immediately after contact.

The Eclipse Essence was not supposed to destroy the golden chain, his goal was simple, with the help of Eclipse Essence, he destroyed from inside every structure that was causing the corruption of these chains.

The chains were the seals of the Demon of End, and the Silver Elf was trying to weaken them enough for the dragon to wake up and destroy them.

But he was not going to let that happen, and in less than a few seconds, the silver threads on the first chain began to collapse.

"Now!" Lian shouted.

Seris placed her right hand on one of the golden paths, and the Ancestral Dragon Mark lit up.

The main command that had been hidden under the false layer until a moment ago appeared again, and with the contact of her Mark, it began to flow.

Energy moved from the pillars of the prison, and the silent grooves of the chain lit up one after another.

The sound of huge metal being pulled spread through the prison, and the chain became tight again.

Seris slightly pressed her teeth together.

Lian noticed.

Activating that path again was not without a cost.

Although her Mark only restored the main command and the energy came from the prison’s own reserves, the pressure of the commands passing through the Ancestral Dragon Mark was still transferred directly to her body.

But Seris did not back away.

"Next."

He looked at her.

The girl was still holding her hand up, and her expression was cold.

Then she turned toward the second chain.

"Right side, we do the same thing."

They had to continue until all the chains were restored again.

Seris nodded.

The second chain also began to light up.

For a moment, Lian truly thought they might be able to remove an important part of the corruption before the dragon woke up.

But the Silver Elf had not stayed silent this whole time.

Her eyes moved between Lian, Seris’s Mark, and the restored chains.

There was no longer any sign of her earlier amusement on her face, she lowered her hand and then stared at the main structure of the prison seal for several seconds.

"So even this much is not enough."

He turned his head toward her, and the Elf gave a very small smile.

"Let’s see if you can work this well after she wakes up too."

All the silver threads connected to one of the distant pillars lit up at the same time.

Lian saw the change with [True Sequence], and the energy stolen from other parts was suddenly transferred to that same pillar.

It seemed she wanted to strike the seal with one huge attack at once, an attack so large that it could cause the Demon to wake up.

"Seris, back!"

It was too late.

The golden light of the huge pillar went out, and the chain connected to the neck of the Demon of End became loose.

Then the second chain...

Krrrrrrrack!

A breaking sound came from a very far distance, but it was so heavy that the platform under their feet shook.

Lian raised his head, and in the sea of red mist, part of one of the dragon’s huge wings moved.

It was a very small movement, but that movement pulled hundreds of chains.

The dragon was waking up....
