Chapter 310: Chapter 211: Final Battle (Part 2)

Suddenly, more than twenty Flying Devices appeared in the sky and descended. The exercise was over, and they were here to take everyone back.

Yu Fei waved to the others from a distance before boarding one that flew toward him. This Flying Device was much smaller, about the size of a car.

"Surprised, Boss?"

The moment Yu Fei boarded, he saw Qin Hao and the other three already waiting. This Flying Device had apparently picked them up first before coming for him.

"Nice work. The five of us are the only freshmen survivors!"

"Boss, we defended the other two base stations to the very end. But you’re the really incredible one, taking down all the sophomores by yourself."

"Haha, now we just have to see what the judges decide. If defending both counts, that’s 10 million merit points!"

"You’re a badass, Boss..."

As they spoke, blue flames erupted from the bottom of the Flying Device, and in an instant, it shot into the clouds.

So far, Yu Fei had seen three types of Flying Devices.

There were traditional jet aircraft, which were mostly used by ordinary people. He had seen plenty of them at Shenhan University and had ridden in one before the exercise.

Then there were the Flying Devices on the Shenhan campus. They produced no exhaust flames, and once inside, the fuselage itself became invisible. They were pilotless, offered a 360-degree, unobstructed view of the outside, and flew as if they simply ignored gravity.

Finally, there was this type of Flying Device he was currently in. It looked more rugged and durable, like something straight out of science fiction, and it was incredibly fast.

Yu Fei and his peers were on the martial path, and Shenhan University placed particular emphasis on cultivating students’ combat strength, so they didn’t have a deep understanding of scientific theory. It was said that Tianwen University, on the other hand, recruited many geniuses for its research track. These various Flying Devices were likely the fruits of their labor.

Sitting in the cabin, he suddenly felt a wave of exhaustion. ’Even after being healed by His Majesty the Green Emperor, the mental fatigue from two days of high-intensity combat still lingers.’

About twenty minutes later, Yu Fei was flown into a vast military complex. He caught a glimpse of it from the air before his craft landed on a dark, bluish-black training ground already teeming with people.

The moment Yu Fei stepped out of the Flying Device, he saw members of his Yulin Army holding up a giant banner...

"LORD OF THE YULIN ARMY, UNRIVALED IN DIVINE MIGHT, VANQUISHER OF ALL HEROES, INVINCIBLE BENEATH THE HEAVENS!"

"You’re a beast, Boss..."

"Great work, Mr. Yu..."

...

The eliminated students had been watching the battlefield surveillance feed. They saw Yu Fei challenge and defeat Feng Hua single-handedly after the rest of the Yulin Army had been taken out by her. They saw him go on to block Zhang Hu and Qingshan, fighting a long, bitter war of attrition that utterly dismantled two sophomore classes. From the sidelines, they had a front-row seat to Yu Fei’s overwhelming power.

On a normal day, they all knew Yu Fei was probably a little stronger than them, but they never truly grasped what that meant. It wasn’t until this exercise against the sophomores that they realized the true gulf between them and him.

Feng Hua could crush them in an instant, and Yu Fei could crush the sophomores. Didn’t that mean the gap between them and Yu Fei was equivalent to the power of an entire Feng Hua?

Yu Fei was given a hero’s welcome by Jiang Nianwei and the others, who crowded around him. According to the feedback from his unique sensory ability, the members of the Yulin Army had never shown him such goodwill. Every single one of them was radiating warmth.

Yu Fei knew full well what was happening. Defending the base stations and defeating Feng Hua’s Salted Fish Assault Team—those two accomplishments meant at least 15 million merit points were in the bag. Although the points would surely be distributed based on combat contribution, there would still be a guaranteed minimum for everyone.

And that wasn’t even counting the fact that he’d promised to give away the rewards for half his kills, a portion that was to be split evenly among them.

Nothing swayed the heart like personal gain. That was the real reason for all this goodwill.

But it didn’t matter. ’Judge people by their actions, not their hearts—if you judged by their hearts, you’d find no one perfect.’ Besides, without the help from Qin Hao and the others, his later fights might have been more difficult.

"Hey, what about us? We worked hard too! Where’s our welcome party?"

Qin Hao complained from the side.

Liu Ze shoved him aside impatiently. "Worked hard my ass! Hell, you spent the last two days stuffing your face. You call that hard work? Did you fire a single bullet from that gun of yours? Did you fight the sophomores head-on even once?"

Qin Hao got defensive at once. "I fired the artillery! I contributed!"

Xiang Kun said coldly, "Only your first three shells were useful. The rest were just firing at empty air. You have the nerve to talk? Mr. Yu could have tied a leash to a dog and it would’ve been about as useful as you!"

"Damn it, you guys are taking this too far! I stuck with Mr. Yu to the very end! My team contribution is definitely higher than yours. But I’m the bigger man, I won’t hold a grudge. When the merit points come through, you can all eat your hearts out!"

"Piss off..."

While the Yulin Army was celebrating boisterously, the members of Meteor Pavilion and the Iron-Blooded Divine Guard could only look on with envy.

"Gao Shou, do you think we picked the wrong name for our class? ’Meteor Pavilion’ doesn’t sound very auspicious, you know... like ’Fallen Stars.’ Our class got zero kills, while Li Jueyin’s class got at least seven!"

Lin Zihao looked crestfallen. He had been taken out by a single slash from Zhang Hu the moment they met.

Gao Shou looked indignant. "At the end of the day, we’re just too weak. I’m starting to realize this ultimate flying dagger technique of mine is pretty useless!"

His flying daggers lacked the power and speed of super-powered firearms. Against a monster who could dodge bullets head-on, they were indeed not very useful.

Gao Shou began to wonder if he should go back and talk to Mr. Tang about changing his path of cultivation.

Zhang Xunyi was nagging incessantly in Li Jueyin’s ear, going on and on about how Li Jueyin shouldn’t have led the raid and how he would have done things differently. The moment Li Jueyin tried to argue back, Zhang Xunyi would tilt his head back at a 45-degree angle, draw his personal sword, and declare proudly...

"This sword has claimed four enemy heads. A pity... such a pity!"

Li Jueyin had gotten three kills; he had gotten four.

And with that, he would refuse to listen to anything Li Jueyin said, stubbornly clinging to his one-kill advantage. He was driving Li Jueyin mad, but there was nothing Li Jueyin could do to vent.

In truth, the difficulty of their respective fights wasn’t even on the same level. Li Jueyin had led a frontal assault, already under surveillance by Qingshan’s team, yet had still managed to take down three opponents in a no-win situation.

Zhang Xunyi, on the other hand, had only succeeded by playing dead and launching a sneak attack when Qingshan wasn’t paying attention. But on the scoreboard, Li Jueyin was indeed short by one kill, and could only sulk in frustration.

Now, seeing Yu Fei’s triumphant return, they were filled with envy. They couldn’t help but silently calculate how many points the Yulin Army would get to split, and just how large Yu Fei’s own share would be.

On the other side, Zhang Hu and his group had also returned. Their numbers were sparse, only forty or fifty in total, and many of them wore expressions of pure joy, like survivors of a catastrophe. The pressure Yu Fei had put them under had simply been too immense.

It was as if a monster were constantly trying to break down their door, forcing them to stand guard every second. Their nerves had been stretched to the breaking point, which was why they felt such overwhelming relief now that the exercise was finally over.

Feng Hua and Qingshan were there to meet Zhang Hu, their expressions grim. In the last decade, no sophomore class had been beaten this badly. They had failed to uphold Shenhan’s tradition of the seniors leading the freshmen, and had completely failed to establish their authority as upperclassmen.

Of course, Jiang Nianwei and the other freshmen didn’t dare to mock them. Even though the sophomores had lost to Yu Fei, they could still wipe the floor with the rest of the freshmen without breaking a sweat.

In the midst of the chaos, Yu Fei managed to wave a greeting to Gao Shou and his group before being ushered to the rest area by Jiang Nianwei and the others. After much persuading, Yu Fei finally managed to decline their well-intentioned company. He just wanted to rest.

Before she left, Jiang Nianwei told him that at nine o’clock the next morning, a military officer from Shenhan would be coming to lead their post-battle debriefing. There would also be an exchange forum, after which the merit point rewards and details about the third assessment would be announced.

It was a packed schedule.

Yu Fei took a long, luxurious bath in the temporary rest area and immediately fell into a deep sleep. He didn’t even have the appetite to eat.

Elsewhere, Feng Hua and two others sat facing each other, their expressions grim.

They were all renowned geniuses, yet they had been thoroughly humbled by the new generation. Naturally, no one was in a good mood.

"Can’t be helped. Yu Fei is a monster. I admit defeat," Zhang Hu said nonchalantly.

Feng Hua studied the longsword in her hand and said coldly, "I’ll find him and fight him again."

Losing to Lu Bufan had been frustrating enough; losing to a freshman was a whole other level of humiliation.

"Ahem... Now that the fight’s over, shouldn’t we settle our bet, you two?"

Zhang Hu said with a grin, rubbing his smooth, round head.

"A bet?"

Feng Hua sneered. "What bet?"
