Because Ryan Sterling had been abroad this whole time and hadn’t come back once, Chloe Shea naturally had some trouble recognizing him.

She could only make out a general resemblance.

He looked familiar, but she couldn’t be certain.

In the kitchen, Evelyn Grant’s nerves tensed the moment she heard her mother.

Julian Sterling, standing beside her, looked as if he were about to march into battle!

His whole body went rigid.

Evelyn Grant hesitated for a moment, then made to get up and go outside.

Julian Sterling immediately grabbed her wrist. "Don’t you forget, your mom’s health can’t handle any kind of shock. If she finds out, do you have any idea what the consequences will be? Can you handle them!"

Evelyn Grant looked up at him. "If you hadn’t come looking for my mom today, we wouldn’t be in this mess!"

"Then what should the situation be? You, going back to Ryan’s place and hooking up with my own brother, completely disregarding my position and the awkwardness of it all?"

’How could he just stand by and do nothing?’

"We’re already divorced, and you were the one who initiated it! Who I’m with now is none of your business! You have no right to preach to me from your moral high ground!"

"But you could have been with anyone, why did it have to be Ryan! He’s also a Sterling, part of the Sterling Family!"

"So if it weren’t Ryan, you wouldn’t be making such a scene?"

Julian Sterling froze.

He found he had no answer to that.

’Because it didn’t matter if it was Ryan or someone else; he couldn’t seem to accept any other man by Evelyn Grant’s side!’

Ryan Sterling brought the gifts he was carrying inside and set them down to one side of the room.

"Ms. Shea, I hope I’m not disturbing you?"

Ryan Sterling pressed his lips together, doing his utmost to conceal his emotions and not reveal anything in front of Chloe Shea.

He had just taken a step forward when he saw Julian Sterling and Evelyn Grant walk out, one after the other.

"Ryan? What are you doing here?"

Julian Sterling spoke before Ryan could even open his mouth.

He even walked toward him, putting on a warm and friendly act!

"I came looking for you."

Ryan subtly dodged his older brother’s familiar gesture. With his back to Ms. Shea, he shot Julian a warning look.

Of course, Julian Sterling had no intention of backing down. He simply pretended not to understand. "What do you need me for? Is it about the company?"

Julian wanted to put on a show, but Ryan refused to play along.

Evelyn Grant felt that if the two men exchanged even a few more words, her mother would sense that something was wrong. She quickly cut in, "If you have business to discuss, take it outside. You can come back and eat when you’re finished."
