I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 32: Not Good Enough for Ryan at All
Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Not Good Enough for Ryan at All
"Go back to the villa."
The moment Evelyn Grant answered, Ryan Sterling’s palpable anger seemed to radiate right through the receiver.
Just those four words carried an oppressive weight that was impossible to ignore.
She froze, her eyes instinctively darting toward Julian Sterling, who was once again walking toward her. Her nerves went taut, and she said quickly, "We’ll talk later!"
She hurriedly hung up just as Julian Sterling reached her.
"Hanging up the moment you see me? Feeling guilty?" A man’s intuition can be scarily accurate sometimes. "Was that a call from the bum you’re fooling around with?"
Evelyn Grant ignored him. Just then, a waiter brought over the bill.
Julian Sterling beat her to it, taking the bill and handing over his card. "Put it on this."
"Don’t use his card!"
Evelyn Grant tried to stop him.
But she wasn’t tall enough and couldn’t snatch it back in time.
Her delicate brows knitted together as she turned and walked straight out.
After leaving the restaurant, she hailed a taxi. Once inside, she sent a message to her brother.
[Alex, something came up, so I had to leave. Please take Mom home.]
Alex Grant quickly replied, [Don’t worry, I’m here. Mom will be fine! Did you and your husband get into another fight? Is he giving you a hard time?]
He had been wanting to ask that the whole time.
Evelyn Grant clutched her phone, pressing her lips together again and again. In the end, she decided against telling the truth.
[We’re fine. Just focus on your studies! I’m counting on you to ace your college entrance exams.]
...
Ryan Sterling stared at his phone, the call disconnected. He was gripping it so tightly that the veins on the back of his hand bulged.
Harry Quinn was the first to notice something was wrong with his good friend. "What’s up?" he asked tentatively.
"She... took my older brother to have dinner with her parents."
"..." Harry Quinn’s thick brows furrowed. "In that case, don’t worry about us," he said immediately. "You should go find her!"
He knew Ryan was only staying out of consideration for him and his sister, who had just returned to the country, and hadn’t left immediately.
’As his friend, I can’t be the one to get in the way of his happiness!’
"Yeah." Ryan Sterling didn’t stand on ceremony. He stood up. "I’ll call you after I handle this."
"Alright!"
They watched as he strode out of the restaurant, his handsome face grim.
Wendy Quinn’s gaze followed him until he was out of sight. Only then did she speak, her tone full of dissatisfaction. "Brother! Why did you let Ryan go?"
"Didn’t you see the state he was in? His mind was already somewhere else!"
At first, Harry Quinn didn’t think much of it and used the serving chopsticks to pick up some food for his sister.
Not until Wendy Quinn said bluntly, "That woman doesn’t deserve Ryan at all! As his friend, how can you not even try to talk some sense into him?"
"Do you think I could change his mind? He’s been in love with Evelyn Grant for years, you know."
"But what is she even?"
Harry Quinn was shocked. "You absolutely cannot say that in front of Ry!"
With that, his brow furrowed slightly as he looked at his sister. "Wendy, don’t tell me you like Ryan Sterling?"
An unnatural expression flashed across Wendy Quinn’s face, and she lowered her head. "I... I was just making an observation..."
"I don’t care what it is, but you’d better get that thought out of your head!"
"Why?" She looked up, her face filled with confusion. "Am I not as good as that Evelyn Grant? If Ryan and I get together, you two would still be best friends. Wouldn’t that make our families even closer?"
"Why? Because I guarantee that if you fall for him, you’ll only end up with a broken heart!"
Others might not know, but how could Harry Quinn not?
If Ryan Sterling could have forced himself to love someone else, he wouldn’t be the man he was today!
