I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 26: Get Rid of the Bastard in Evelyn Grant’s Womb
Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Get Rid of the Bastard in Evelyn Grant’s Womb
Worried his mother wouldn’t believe him, he quickly added, "I already agreed to your plan, didn’t I? If I were lying to you, why would I ask Ryan to go to all this trouble?"
Florence Morgan considered this, and her expression finally softened.
"Once your brother gets that drug, I’ll help you figure out a way to make Eve drink it! But let me tell you, you only get one shot at this. I’m risking Eve hating me forever to get you two lovebirds back together! After you sleep together, that’s when a woman is at her most vulnerable. You have to be patient and coax her properly. You’d better make it work the first time, and then you two can go and get happily remarried!"
’That way, she could leave Kyro with her mind at ease.’
"Yes, I understand."
Julian Sterling nodded.
But a moment later, a sliver of doubt crept in. "Mom, are you sure... Ryan agreed to help me get that drug?"
"Of course I’m sure!" Florence Morgan replied, then sent him a screenshot of her texts with her younger son. "Look, Ryan replied to me. He said, ’Okay’!"
Julian Sterling tapped open the image, his dark eyes scanning it.
It was true. Below, Ryan Sterling had replied in agreement.
But...
’He couldn’t shake the feeling that his brother had never been very supportive of him and Evelyn getting back together. Maybe Ryan had just given their mother a casual reply to placate her.’
’His expression remained neutral, but another idea was already forming in his mind.’
’If I prepare a dose of that drug myself, it’ll be foolproof, right?’
’And before that, he first had to find a way to get rid of the bastard in Evelyn Grant’s womb!’
...
Evelyn Grant had just returned to work, and she was already swamped with things to do.
To make matters worse, this was when the morning sickness started to kick in.
The morning meeting was only halfway through when she couldn’t take it anymore. After a hurried "excuse me," she got up and ran to the restroom.
After she left, Sean Shaw gave the female colleague nearest the door a look. "Go check on her."
The colleague followed her and asked with concern, handing her a cup of water. "Ms. Grant, are you all right?"
Evelyn Grant waved a hand dismissively. "I’m fine."
Wanda raised an eyebrow slightly as a thought occurred to her. "This is a lot like when I was pregnant with my son. You couldn’t be..."
"No," she denied it flatly. "It’s just an upset stomach."
’Everyone at the firm knew she was divorced from Julian Sterling. If word of her pregnancy got out, she would definitely become the subject of everyone’s gossip.’
’That was the last thing Evelyn wanted.’
"Well, you should get it checked out at a hospital soon. Stomach issues might seem minor, but they can be serious. The longer you wait, the harder they are to treat."
In response to Wanda’s well-intentioned advice, she managed a weak smile. "Okay, thank you!"
"Don’t mention it. We’re all colleagues here."
By the time Evelyn Grant came out of the restroom, the morning meeting had already ended.
She had just returned to her office when Julian Sterling’s name flashed on her phone screen again!
Instinctively, Evelyn Grant looked down through her office window.
Sure enough!
He was there again.
’If this kept up, she’d become the laughingstock of the entire firm.’
Evelyn Grant’s lips tightened into a thin line as she answered the call. "Julian Sterling, what the hell do you want?"
"I want to see you."
"There’s no reason for us to meet."
"Eve, your mom called me. She asked me to free up my evening to have dinner at her place with you."
Evelyn’s heart sank. "What are you trying to do? My mom has a heart condition. If she gets a shock—"
"Relax," Julian Sterling said with a placid chuckle. "I didn’t say anything. I simply accepted your mother’s invitation."
