I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 157: Disgustingly Filthy
Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Disgustingly Filthy
Although Evelyn Grant was heartbroken, but...
She was still rational.
She didn’t want to become warped by hatred. At the very least, Evelyn Grant felt that the love Ryan Sterling had shown her wasn’t entirely a lie.
"Evidence?" Julian Sterling scoffed. "That so-called evidence could all be fake, too! Since Ryan Sterling had everything planned out, he must have tampered with every step! Otherwise, why couldn’t my men find a single thing when I sent them to investigate?"
Evelyn Grant looked up at him, her lips curling into a sneer. "Did you ever even consider investigating?"
"..."
"When Jane Jacobs died, you never once thought about finding evidence. You just wanted me to go to the grave with her!"
Evelyn even suspected that if Julian had found evidence back then, he might not have revealed it at all!
He might have buried that evidence forever, just to prove that his actions and his suspicions were justified.
That was just the kind of person Julian Sterling was.
Evelyn saw through him completely now!
"That’s not true. I wouldn’t—"
"You know perfectly well whether you would have or not." Evelyn Grant cut the conversation short. "I only came here to verify the screenshot you showed me. Now that I have, I should be going."
With that, she turned to leave.
Julian’s expression soured. Taking advantage of his long legs, he cut her off in two quick strides.
"Evelyn Grant! After all our years as husband and wife, you’re really just going to give up on us? Yes, I hurt you, I admit it. But didn’t Ryan Sterling hurt you, too? We’re the same now, so why can’t you give me a chance as well?"
Just listen to him.
Evelyn found it utterly laughable.
She looked up, and it was as if she didn’t even recognize the man standing before her!
"Julian Sterling, you’re a real master of deflection, aren’t you? When other people are in the wrong, you seize on it and never let go. But if you’re the one at fault, you have to find someone else’s mistake to point to, just so you can prove your own transgression is no big deal."
"..."
"How did I never realize what kind of person you are?" Evelyn Grant let out a cold laugh. "I used to think you were a kind and humble boy-next-door. You were always so thoughtful, your smile so warm... It made me mistakenly believe you were actually a good person!"
Now, she was finally getting a good look at the real Julian Sterling.
And she found him to be repulsively vile!
"I... In the past, I really was... good to you. But I admit, back then, I only saw you as Mr. Grant’s little sister."
Julian Sterling ran a frustrated hand through his hair, heaved a sigh, and said in a low voice, "Eve, let me be honest with you. In the beginning, right after we got married, I really did hate you. I felt that if it weren’t for you, Jane Jacobs and I could have been together! Just because you said you wanted to marry me, my parents forced me to do it and made me give up Jane. I think... that feeling was understandable, wasn’t it?"
"You could have just told me then! It’s not like I was desperate to marry you!"
"My parents wouldn’t let me!" If they had, wouldn’t he have said something?
At the time, he had even considered asking his brother to take his place.
"So because your parents wouldn’t let you, you pushed all your resentment onto me? I had no idea you didn’t want to marry me. I didn’t know you had a girlfriend and were forced to break up with her because of me."
If she had known, she never would have suggested marrying Julian Sterling.
