Chapter 151: Chapter 151: He Was the One Who Asked for the Divorce

Evelyn Grant was alone in the hospital, staring out the window until dawn.

Her tears seemed to have run dry, leaving only her dry, aching eyes.

She knew with certainty that she couldn’t hide the miscarriage; Ryan Sterling would find out sooner or later.

But she just didn’t know how to tell him...

Evelyn Grant didn’t even have time to process why she had suddenly miscarried!

It was just too difficult to talk about.

Because she knew better than anyone how much Ryan cared about this baby.

After lying there in a daze for she didn’t know how long, Evelyn Grant finally pushed herself up and slowly got out of bed.

She paid the hospital bill by herself, then weakly walked out.

The morning sun was so blinding!

Evelyn Grant had never felt this way before; the air felt so thin... she couldn’t breathe.

After walking a few more steps, her hand flew to her lower abdomen!

Gone.

There was nothing left at all.

Evelyn Grant closed her eyes, suddenly remembering the pills her mother had handed her!

’There has to be a reason for a miscarriage!’

’I didn’t fall, and I certainly didn’t do any strenuous exercise, so how could I have miscarried?’

’It must have been for some other reason, then.’

But because of her mother’s condition, Evelyn Grant didn’t dare to ask directly. She hesitated for a moment before calling her.

"Hello, Mom."

Chloe Shea was a little surprised to get the call. "You’re not home? You already left?"

"Yeah. Something came up this morning, so I went back to the law firm early." Evelyn Grant pushed through her pain, forcing her voice to sound normal. "By the way, Mom, can I ask you something? Please don’t lie to me, just tell me the truth."

"Between mother and daughter, what can’t you ask? Just tell me."

Evelyn Grant pressed her lips together.

’She really... she didn’t want to assume the worst of someone, especially not the man she had once loved so deeply!’

But besides Julian Sterling, Evelyn Grant couldn’t think of any other possibility.

"Mom, those vitamins you gave me yesterday... you didn’t buy them yourself, did you?"

The silence on the other end of the line was all the answer Evelyn Grant needed.

"How... how did you know?"

"You don’t usually buy things like that." Evelyn Grant pressed a hand to her forehead. "Was it Julian Sterling? Those pills... did Julian give them to you for me to take?"

As she asked the question, she couldn’t stop her voice from trembling.

Chloe Shea didn’t answer right away. Instead, she sighed. "Oh, Eve, Mom knows how much you love him, so I know exactly what it feels like to be hurt by the person you love most! But you two are married, after all. You can’t let things stay so strained between you! I was only helping him because I want you two to repair your relationship, to live a happy, peaceful life as a family."

Evelyn Grant, of course, understood her mother’s intentions!

But...

But now, Evelyn Grant’s biggest regret was not telling her mother what had really happened between her and Julian Sterling!

"Mom, we’re already divorced."

"What?"

"Nothing he told you was true! Julian Sterling and I haven’t spoken in a long time. He’s tried to contact me, but I refuse to see him."

Chloe Shea was so shocked by this news that she was speechless!

"You... you two... really got a divorce? Eve, didn’t you love him so much? What on earth did Julian Sterling do to leave you this heartbroken?"

"He was the one who asked for the divorce."
