Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Safe for Pregnant Women

’Even if I don’t think about my own health, I have to think about the baby in my belly!’

It was clear that Ryan Sterling valued this baby immensely, as if it were his own life. If anything were to go wrong, he would be devastated.

Evelyn Grant didn’t want him to be sad after everything he had already given.

...

The law firm wasn’t far from Chloe Shea’s apartment.

When Evelyn Grant got home, her mother was washing fruit.

Hearing the noise, Chloe Shea quickly walked out, wiping the water from her hands with a smile. "You’re back earlier than I expected! I thought I’d be waiting for you until ten!"

"I was in a rush to finish things today. If work gets really busy, it’s pretty normal not to be off by ten."

Evelyn Grant wanted to explain this to prevent her mother from worrying in the future.

"I knew it. When you get caught up in work, you neglect everything else! You don’t care about your health or anything." Chloe Shea sighed. "But sweetie, money isn’t everything. We can earn it slowly! It’s not that big of a deal."

Because Chloe Shea hadn’t worked in a long time, she naturally didn’t understand the pressures of a job.

However, Evelyn Grant had no intention of getting into it and telling her mother how stressful work is these days.

She just smiled. "Mom, my boss and colleagues at the law firm are all wonderful to me, so I really enjoy working there. I don’t mind putting in a little extra time, especially since it keeps me in a good mood every day."

"That’s true! I’ve noticed you’ve been smiling a lot more lately."

From Chloe Shea’s perspective, she naturally assumed this change in her daughter was because she had made up with Julian Sterling.

After all, compared to how she’d looked when she first came back, her daughter clearly had a sparkle in her eyes now!

Evelyn Grant was, of course, happy.

She had finally gotten her wish to be cherished and treated well by someone.

It was just that...

’When I made that wish, I hoped Julian Sterling would treat me well. Now, that person has become Ryan Sterling.’

"Come on, let’s eat! I’ll go heat up the food."

"I’ll help you."

Evelyn Grant put down her bag and followed her mother into the kitchen to wash her hands.

Watching her daughter, Chloe Shea secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Ever since she found out her daughter and son-in-law had fought, how could she, as a parent, not worry? She didn’t ask about it because she was afraid of bringing up a painful topic and didn’t want her daughter to dwell on unhappy things.

Now that she knew they had reconciled, what parent wouldn’t be happy to see it?

Chloe Shea sat down and ate with her daughter.

After watching her finish, Chloe Shea stood up, grabbed the bottle of medicine that Julian Sterling had given her, and poured a few pills into her palm.

"Here, take these!"

Evelyn Grant froze for a moment when she saw the medicine.

"What’s this?"

"Vitamins and nutritional supplements to boost your health!" Chloe Shea pointed to the description on the bottle. "See? They’re good for you!"

Just to be safe, Evelyn Grant took the bottle to look at it herself.

She thought, ’Mom doesn’t know I’m pregnant. What if pregnant women can’t take this medicine?’

Evelyn Grant carefully read the instructions, examining every line with great focus.

Finally, she spotted a line of small print at the bottom.

[Safe for use during pregnancy]

Only then did she relax.

"Mom, these must be expensive, right? You don’t have to buy them anymore. If they’re helpful, I’ll buy them myself!"

"I don’t know—" Chloe Shea was about to say she didn’t know how much they cost either.

But she quickly changed her tune and caught herself.

"I’m not sure if they even work, so I only bought this one bottle. It wasn’t expensive!"

Evelyn Grant smiled, pursing her lips, and took the water her mother handed her. "Thank you, Mom, for always thinking of me! With you and Alex, I feel so incredibly fortunate!"

This was what she truly felt in her heart.
