"Is Eve working so much these days?" Chloe Shea suddenly grew worried. "I need to have a talk with her. That child... she’s definitely just focused on making more money and completely ignoring her own health!"

Julian Sterling seized the opportunity to console her. "Mom, I’ll talk to her again when I get back. You know how she is—very responsible. Her cases are keeping her swamped, so there’s not much to be done. Once she’s past this busy spell, I promise I’ll have a proper talk with her."

Chloe Shea nodded.

Then, she realized something was different. A pleasant surprise lit up her eyes as she asked, "You two... have you made up?"

From the sound of it, their relationship was much more harmonious than before!

After all, she’d never heard of them sitting down to talk things out before. Her daughter would only ever come home and tell her how incredibly busy Julian Sterling was—so busy he didn’t even have time to come home.

"Our relationship is very stable now. You don’t have to worry."

"That’s good!" Chloe Shea sighed in relief. "You’ve known Eve for so long, so you should know her temperament. She’s actually quite easy to please! Unless she’s absolutely furious, she won’t really throw a fit."

Julian Sterling nodded. "I know. It was my fault before, and I’m sorry for making you worry. It was completely wrong of me. As the younger one, I failed your trust and let Eve suffer under my care. For that, I want to apologize to you again."

Chloe Shea waved her hand. "Don’t apologize to me, we’re family! I’m not angry. Besides, I know that when a couple builds a life together, a few bumps in the road are inevitable. It’s fine, what’s past is past."

"Thank you for understanding. I promise I will never let Eve be sad or hurt again. I also brought the doctor over this time hoping that Eve can have some peace of mind and focus on her work. As long as you’re healthy, we, as your children, have nothing to worry about."

As the president of a company, Julian Sterling naturally knew all the right things to say.

He had Chloe Shea beaming, the smile never leaving her lips.

The doctor gave her a simple check-up and prescribed some medication.

"Your condition is indeed a bit tricky. You’ll need to keep resting," the doctor said with a smile. "You absolutely must not put any strain on your heart, and don’t do any strenuous exercise! I’ll leave you my number. If you have any issues, you can contact me anytime. I can come over even if it’s very late."

Chloe Shea nodded eagerly.

This was a thoughtful gesture from her son-in-law, and she was, of course, delighted.

Julian Sterling stayed for a little while longer, making small talk, before he and the doctor finally got up to leave.

As they reached the door, he made a point of adding, "Mom, please remember to give this medicine to Eve. Make sure she takes it! It’s a very potent supplement."

Chloe Shea hummed in agreement, her face beaming. "I know! Don’t you worry! If Eve knew how much you care about her, she’d be thrilled."

Julian Sterling froze for a moment, then quickly said, "Mom, it’s better if you don’t tell her I bought it. Just say you got it for her."

"Why?"

"Well, we just had a fight. If I suddenly show this much concern, Eve might think I have an ulterior motive. I don’t want her to think that."

"Please, just listen to me. Don’t tell her!"
