Chapter 133: Chapter 133: The Baby Definitely Can’t Be Saved

Ryan Sterling looked into her eyes and spoke softly. "Evelyn Grant, we can talk things over, but I’m very firm on how I’m going to take care of and protect you. That’s not up for negotiation."

Evelyn Grant wasn’t just on her own now. She had the baby to think about! She needed someone watching over her at all times!

Whenever she was out of Ryan Sterling’s sight, he was terrified something might happen to her.

Evelyn Grant blinked, then suddenly smiled.

"Alright, I’ll listen to you."

Ryan Sterling breathed a sigh of relief.

Evelyn Grant said gently, "Just give me some time to get used to it. After all... I’ve never been cared for this attentively before. I’m not used to it."

She was simply speaking from the heart.

But she didn’t realize that her words made Ryan Sterling’s heart ache for her.

’She was supposed to be my treasure, so how did she end up so worn down by life?’

’To the point that just being loved felt like an overwhelming surprise.’

"I’m sorry. I came back too late."

Evelyn Grant shook her head. "You didn’t come back late at all. The timing was perfect! If you’d come back any sooner, I wouldn’t have given up on Julian yet. I wouldn’t have had any room in my heart for you. I’m just that stubborn."

’Thinking back on everything I did... it’s just so absurd.’

’How could I have been so foolish?’

’Julian had made it crystal clear that his heart wasn’t with me, that he didn’t love me anymore, but I... I still tried to change him.’

’I thought that with enough time, with enough sincerity, I could win Julian over.’

"If I had known, I would have done anything to snatch you away! I could never have let him bully you like that. I... I couldn’t bear it."

Ryan didn’t even have to experience it firsthand.

Just hearing from others about the sacrifices Evelyn had made for Julian was enough to make him hate himself for deciding to back away.

’Why didn’t I fight harder? At the very least, I should have made things clear to Evelyn!’

"What’s past is past! Ryan, I’m not going to dwell on it, and you shouldn’t either! Didn’t we already agree? We’re looking forward. Both of us."

"Mmm."

"Come on, we came out to eat. Why are we talking about such serious things right away!"

Evelyn Grant truly didn’t want to dwell on the past.

She didn’t want to think about it at all.

...

Julian Sterling held the medicine in his hand, examining it over and over.

"Are you sure this won’t fail?"

"I’m certain! As long as the pregnant woman takes it, the child is gone for sure! Never mind the first trimester, even a fetus in the second trimester couldn’t possibly survive it!"

Julian’s dark eyes narrowed, a glint of ruthlessness in their depths.

’At a time like this, I can’t hesitate for even a second!’

’The child in Evelyn Grant’s womb absolutely cannot be born. Once it’s born, what dignity will I have left?’

’I’d even have to completely give up any thought of getting back together with Evelyn!’

’Otherwise...’

’Am I supposed to raise a child my wife had with my own brother?’

’Tell me, what man could possibly stand that?’

"I only have one shot at this. If the baby survives, I’m coming for you."

The female doctor waved her hands frantically.

"As long as you make sure she takes it, I guarantee it. That fetus... no one, and I mean no one, will be able to save it!"

A fetus is fragile to begin with, especially in the first trimester.

There was no question about the drug’s effectiveness.

Julian put the medicine away, grunted in acknowledgment, and turned to leave.
