Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Ryan Sterling Is My Husband

After work, Evelyn Grant returned from the law firm to Ryan Sterling’s apartment.

The moment she unlocked the door and stepped inside, she saw him sitting on the sofa with a smile on his face—a rare sight, as he was usually working in his study.

Upon seeing Evelyn, Ryan Sterling stood up, walked over, and naturally wrapped his arms around her.

He encircled her, but didn’t pull her into a tight hug.

He was afraid he’d get too excited and hold her too tightly, which might hurt the baby in her belly.

"What is it?"

Evelyn didn’t quite understand why he was suddenly so different today.

"Did my mom bother you again?"

Ryan’s voice drifted down from above her head.

It was as deep and pleasant as ever, but with a hint of cheerfulness!

This only confused Evelyn more. "Yes, she did. Your mom asked me to help her with a lawsuit, but after all was said and done, it was just another attempt to set me up with Julian Sterling."

"And you said no."

"Of course I couldn’t agree! I’m trying my best to avoid Julian as it is. If I take your mother’s case, she’ll definitely keep asking to meet with me alone to discuss the details, and then have your brother show up! What would I do then?"

’Once I’ve signed the agreement, I’d be stuck. I couldn’t leave, but I couldn’t stay either.’

’And when faced with Julian, I wouldn’t even know what to say!’

’Everything that needed to be said has already been said.’

Ryan Sterling’s thin lips curved into a smile as one of his hands caressed her long hair. "So, to solve the problem once and for all, you just told my mom you have a boyfriend now?"

Now, Evelyn finally understood why he was so happy.

She sighed in resignation.

"I do have a new boyfriend. That’s a fact."

If only it weren’t for her mother’s health condition and the fact that she couldn’t be agitated.

Evelyn wanted to just tell Florence Morgan directly that she hadn’t only remarried but was also pregnant, just to make her stop trying to find ways to persuade her to get back together with Julian Sterling.

That was absolutely out of the question!

"This ’boyfriend’ you mentioned... that would be me, right?"

Although he already knew the answer in his heart, Ryan Sterling still wanted to hear Evelyn say it with her own lips.

"...What do you think?"

"It’s not about what I think. I want to hear you say it."

Evelyn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

She gave him a light push. "Ryan Sterling, are you being childish?"

"If this is childish, then I’m childish! Evelyn Grant, I want to hear you personally acknowledge our relationship! Even if we can’t appear in public together right now, I want you to give me a title in your heart."

That was something Ryan Sterling had dreamed of.

How long had he been waiting for this?

It was a feeling Evelyn would probably have a hard time understanding.

"Your title isn’t something I give you. Legally, you’re already my husband!"

They were a legally married couple, weren’t they?

"I just want to hear you say it."

It was rare for Ryan Sterling to be so insistent with Evelyn.

"Fine, I’ll say it."

She wasn’t going to be stingy with a few words.

After a light cough, Evelyn turned around, lifted her gaze, and looked at Ryan Sterling with utmost seriousness.

There was no trace of a smile on her face; she was completely solemn.

"Right now, you, Ryan Sterling, are my husband and the father of the baby in my belly! It’s because of my family’s problems that I can’t acknowledge this publicly, making you suffer this injustice and hide it for my sake. I’m sor—"

The two words "I’m sorry."

Ryan Sterling couldn’t bear to let her say them, and he quickly covered her lips. "Don’t you dare say you’re sorry to me! I’m doing this willingly. It has nothing to do with you."
