Chapter 126: Chapter 126: He Fell in Love with Evelyn Grant

After Florence Morgan finished speaking, she waited there for her younger son’s reaction.

She wanted to see how he would respond.

Ryan Sterling wasn’t a fool; he understood immediately.

He paused for a moment, his voice rising. "Impossible! I don’t believe it."

Those words finally put Florence Morgan at ease.

’It seems the "boyfriend" Evelyn Grant mentioned isn’t my younger son.’

’While it wasn’t good news that she had a boyfriend, at least it wasn’t Ryan. It meant the brothers wouldn’t be turning on each other just yet.’

’This would also buy me more time to get Evelyn Grant and Julian Sterling back together.’

"What’s so hard to believe? Eve has never been one to lie! Ryan, you saw it for yourself. She’s in a new relationship now, and she didn’t choose you. That proves she has no interest in you, so you should just give up on the idea! With your prospects, what kind of woman couldn’t you have?"

What she said was undoubtedly true.

Given Ryan Sterling’s current status and position, it would be easy for him to find someone, not just like Evelyn Grant, but even someone better and more outstanding.

After all, weren’t women practically flocking to his door?

"You’re not saying this for my own good. You’re just thinking that if I back out, you can disregard my feelings and use some of your tricks on Evelyn Grant, right?"

Ryan Sterling saw right through her and didn’t bother to be subtle.

Even if she was his own mother.

"What do you mean, ’tricks’? I’m just playing matchmaker!"

"Have you asked Evelyn Grant if she’s willing? If she consciously still wanted to remarry my older brother, she wouldn’t have found a new boyfriend, and she certainly wouldn’t be avoiding him now!"

"I..." Florence Morgan was so taken aback by her younger son’s retort that she didn’t know what to say.

’If Julian wasn’t so emotionally unstable right now, and if she weren’t so afraid something might happen to him, she really wouldn’t want to get involved anymore.’

’One was her son, and the other was her son too. And the woman they were fighting over was someone she had watched grow up since childhood!’

’For Florence Morgan, this was an impossible choice.’

"You said it yourself that Evelyn Grant has a new boyfriend now. That means we should stay out of her life and stop forcing our own ideas on her! Who she chooses to be with is her right!"

"But your brother, he—"

Florence Morgan stopped mid-sentence, quickly swallowing her words.

She was afraid that using the wrong word or phrase would provoke an argument between the two of them.

"My brother is not Evelyn Grant’s savior. And even if he was, she doesn’t need one now! If you really don’t want the relationship between Evelyn Grant and our family to become strained, then stop interfering."

Florence Morgan sighed. "Ryan, this is very difficult for me, too! To be honest, I know what your brother did was terrible, and I know you despise him for it and can’t understand it, but... but your brother just admitted that he’s in love with Evelyn Grant."

"So he’s in love with Evelyn Grant, and I’m supposed to back off? Mom, don’t you get it? My older brother would never have come begging to you if it wasn’t for Evelyn Grant! You think he’s changed, you think Evelyn Grant will be happy with him, but I’m telling you, she won’t be!"

’Evelyn Grant was a loyal and devoted person, that was true.’

’But Julian Sterling wasn’t!’

’He always had an ulterior motive when he got close to people.’

’And Evelyn Grant was no exception.’

’How could a relationship like that possibly last? At best, they would reconcile now only to be waiting for their next fight.’
