Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Actually Already Divorced

But now, Evelyn Grant had only been hiding it because she truly didn’t want her problems to affect her family.

But from the looks of it, continuing to hide it was no longer an option.

She took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "Alex, what I’m about to tell you is for your ears only. You absolutely cannot let our mom know! You know how her health is; she can’t handle any kind of shock!"

Alex Grant immediately promised, "Don’t worry, I won’t say a word!"

"I... Your brother-in-law and I... we’re actually divorced. It’s been a while."

"What?!"

Evelyn Grant frowned slightly. "I originally didn’t want to tell you this. I was afraid it would affect your studies. But I didn’t want to lie to you, either, so I chose to tell you the truth. I’m not telling you this to make you worry, but to put your mind at ease. I’m fine, really. I’m doing great now!"

’Great?’

Alex Grant didn’t believe that for a second.

"The reason you divorced must be because he mistreated you! I don’t even need to ask if I’m right. I’m sure of it!"

"We’re already divorced. What’s the point of talking about all that now? It doesn’t matter anymore!"

Evelyn Grant herself didn’t want to bring it up again.

Talking about it would only make her feel like her past life was a failure, that she’d been a fool who had wasted years of sincere affection for nothing.

"He mistreated you, so how can you just let it go with a divorce? I can guess what happened. He looked down on you just because our dad passed away and he thought no one would stand up for you, right?" Alex Grant grew more and more agitated, his voice nearly a low growl. "But he better not forget, even though Dad is gone, this family still has me! I will absolutely not allow him to wrong my sister!"

"I know, I know all of that! Alex, right now, the best thing you can do for me is to focus on your studies. Don’t think about the rest, and more importantly, don’t get involved."

"Sis!"

"Listen to me, Alex! The adult world isn’t that simple. It’s not as easy as just getting revenge when you’ve been wronged. But I promise you, I’m doing really well now! There’s someone looking after me and caring for me."

Although Evelyn Grant didn’t directly tell her brother about Ryan Sterling, saying this was tantamount to announcing his existence to her family.

It took a moment for Alex Grant to process this, and he asked, stunned, "You... you have a new boyfriend?"

"Mhm," Evelyn Grant admitted openly.

"...So you’ve really given up on Julian Sterling? You don’t love him anymore?"

Alex Grant’s voice suddenly jumped an octave.

Evelyn Grant wasn’t surprised by this.

After all, everyone had thought she would only ever love Julian Sterling in this lifetime, that there would never be anyone else.

"Yes, I don’t love him anymore. We’re really in the past now."

"That’s great, Sis! Please don’t ever love him again!" Alex Grant sounded almost relieved. "That Julian Sterling, he never loved you at all. It was obvious in every way that he didn’t love you or care about you. But I could see that you loved him so much, so I couldn’t say anything. I could only feel indignant for you in my heart."

Anyone who saw Evelyn Grant back then would have said she was hopelessly devoted, wouldn’t they?

If Julian Sterling so much as coughed, she would practically turn into a doctor, fussing over him endlessly. And what about Julian? He would just think she was being nosy!

Evelyn Grant must have been blinded by love. How else could she have overlooked even that?
