I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant

Chapter 100: Chapter 100: I Like It, You Wouldn’t Understand
Getting involved with her own brother-in-law?
The Sterling family would become a laughingstock!
While the Sterling family wasn’t some ancient, aristocratic clan, they still held considerable influence in the country.
Over the years, they had built a complex and deeply-rooted network of connections. Plus, they frequently engaged in philanthropy, so their reputation was, needless to say, excellent.
They absolutely couldn’t let a single relationship lay waste to all their past efforts.
...
The next day, the moment Evelyn Grant opened her eyes, she saw several missed calls from Julian Sterling.
And two unread text messages.
She didn’t call back or even open the messages, simply deleting them.
It wasn’t that she was afraid Ryan Sterling would be upset if he found out. It was mainly that she felt there was no longer any need for her and Julian Sterling to be in contact.
’What was there to even talk about?’
’It would just be dredging up all the things that hurt her, then listening to him apologize and repent.’
’But for a lot of hurts, a simple "I’m sorry" and "I’ll change" can’t just wipe the slate clean.’
After Evelyn Grant got out of bed and washed up, she found Ryan Sterling had already made breakfast.
He was a CEO, yet he was always in the kitchen cooking for her. It made her feel a little bashful.
"Why don’t I cook tomorrow? You’ve been doing it for so long, I should pitch in."
"I like doing it." Ryan Sterling smiled, placing the toast in front of her. "You wouldn’t understand."
He truly enjoyed the feeling of being able to cook for the woman he loved from the moment he opened his eyes!
’Just glancing at Evelyn Grant’s closed bedroom door filled him with a sense of contentment.’
’He was finally able to live with her. No one could possibly understand that feeling!’
"..."
And it was true. Evelyn Grant didn’t understand.
They had both just sat down when Julian Sterling’s call came through again.
Evelyn Grant glanced at her phone. Ryan Sterling’s eyes instinctively followed, and his dark pupils constricted.
"My brother... is calling you."
"Yeah, he’s called a few times. I haven’t been answering."
This time, Evelyn Grant rejected the call as well.
Ryan Sterling’s thick brows knitted together. ’Mother must have said something to my brother again. He’s probably going to make a move soon.’
’Otherwise, he wouldn’t be trying to contact Evelyn Grant so frequently and desperately.’
After Evelyn finished her breakfast, Ryan Sterling drove her to the law firm. He didn’t leave right away. Instead, he parked nearby and called Mr. Shaw.
"I’m at the coffee shop in front of the firm. I’ll wait for you."
"Okay!"
Mr. Shaw rushed to the coffee shop, casting his work aside without a second thought. He didn’t dare to be slow.
After all, his "protection detail" over the last few days had been full of mishaps. He couldn’t risk angering his employer again!
Pushing the door open, Mr. Shaw respectfully pulled out a chair and sat down across from Ryan Sterling.
"Mr. Sterling, you wanted to see me?"
"Yes. For the next month, I want you to find a way to keep Evelyn Grant working inside the law firm. She is not to go out or see anyone. Ensure that every single person she encounters during the workday has been screened by you."
Mr. Shaw thought for a moment. ’It’s not like I have any other choice.’
"Alright, I’ll figure out how to make it happen."
"And remember, you absolutely cannot let Evelyn Grant come into contact with any unsavory characters. From now on, even if someone is just delivering materials or documents to her office, you need to find out exactly who they are and what they’re bringing!"
Mr. Shaw nodded. "How about this: I’ll have my personal secretary assist Ms. Grant for the next few days. If anyone wants to see her or give her anything, he’ll keep a close watch."
Even after giving such thorough instructions, Ryan Sterling still had a bad feeling.
’He had to keep the matter of the text message hidden.’
