"As long as I like it, that’s all that matters. If anyone dares to say a word against it, I’ll gouge out their eyes." Sang Zhi’s voice was soft as he lifted his head slightly, his dangerous gaze sweeping over the crowd.

His killing intent was completely undisguised.

His imperious presence made everyone avert their gaze. No one dared to look at him.

Held in his embrace, Ye Qianning naturally didn’t see how terrifying Sang Zhi’s gaze was. Hearing his domineering words, however, she couldn’t help but ask, "When did you get so thick-skinned?"

Sang Zhi retracted his gaze, satisfied with his survey of the room. A smile touched his lips as he heard her. "It’s you who’s gotten thin-skinned."

Ye Qianning subconsciously wanted to touch her face, but her hands were pinned by his embrace. She said with some annoyance, "I still have things to do. Let go of me."

"I’ll go with you."

"I’d rather you didn’t."

"If you don’t agree, I won’t let go." Sang Zhi tightened his hold on her slightly for emphasis.

Ye Qianning was at a loss for words. ’When did he learn to be so clingy?’ she thought.

"Fine, fine. Just let go first."

The corners of Sang Zhi’s mouth lifted. He smiled as happily as a child who’d just been given candy and released his hold.

Ye Qianning shot him an annoyed look and straightened her clothes. "Luo Feng, dispose of these unsightly corpses."

"Yes."

Luo Feng beckoned a few men over, and they began carrying the bodies out.

"Miss Ye," Huo Feng suddenly said.

Ye Qianning looked over at him. "Is there something, Mr. Huo?"

Huo Feng was still restraining Huo Liran, his hand clamped firmly over her mouth.

When Huo Liran saw Ye Qianning look over, her expression turned vicious—a mix of hatred and jealousy. She struggled to say something, her words coming out as muffled cries. "MMPH! MMPH!"

"Behave yourself," Huo Feng warned her.

Huo Liran glanced at her older brother and only struggled more violently.

Seeing he was about to lose his hold, Huo Feng resignedly delivered a sharp blow to the back of her neck. Huo Liran’s eyes rolled into her head, and she collapsed.

"Miss Ye, my sister has offended you. I will be sure to punish her severely when I get back." Huo Feng was too ashamed to meet her eyes.

"I didn’t take it to heart."

"Right... Miss Ye, may I take my second uncle’s body back with me?"

"As you wish."

"Thank you, Miss Ye." After expressing his gratitude, Huo Feng turned to Jiang Chenyi. "Brother Jiang, could I trouble your men to lend a hand?"

Jiang Chenyi nodded.

The Jiang family’s attendants entered the hall and lifted Huo Tu’s body.

"Thank you," Huo Feng said, then walked out the door carrying Huo Liran in his arms.

Jiang Chenyi stole a glance at Ye Qianning. ’Some people,’ he thought, ’can captivate a room just by standing there, without needing to strike any sort of pose.’

Before he could look away, a shiver ran down his spine as his gaze met a pair of crimson eyes.

Those eyes were different from before. Laced with the killing intent was a thick hostility, promising that if Jiang Chenyi dared to look again, his own eyes would be mercilessly gouged out.

Jiang Chenyi hastily averted his gaze.

Jiang Yue clung to his arm and looked up, calling out softly, "Brother."

"Yue’er, let’s go."

"Mhm." Jiang Yue nodded. After a moment’s thought, she let go of her brother’s arm and walked over to Ye Qianning. "Sister Ye, my brother and I are so relieved to see you’re all right. Um, we’ll be going now. Sister Ye, if..."

She trailed off. ’Sister Ye is so capable,’ she thought, ’and the people around her are too. Why would she ever need our help?’

Ye Qianning understood what she meant. "Still, I want to thank you and your brother for today."

"But... we didn’t actually help with anything." Jiang Yue lowered her head, nervously fiddling with her fingers.

"Who says? You were incredibly impressive when you charged in earlier. You stunned them all."

"Really?" Jiang Yue looked up shyly.

Ye Qianning reached out and patted her on the head. "Mhm."
